Fairly unique puzzle game. It's a little challenging at parts, but nothing impossible, and no moon logic. Worth trying if you like puzzles.
Light Borrower is a respectable, mostly casual puzzle game in which you twist and slide stuff around to try to shine light in the right spot(s). The trailer gives a very good indication of gameplay. It's pretty straightforward. Nothing epic, not bad for an afternoon. 34 levels, first playthrough will probably take >1h but <2h. Then there's some more abstract/tedious hidden stuff to keep you going for another 1h or so if you have the patience: there are actually 2 ways to "beat" each level, there's an alternate ending, and you'll have to scour the post-apocalyptic cult narrative-text to find some hidden info. The main challenge on a level is that most slidey/rotatey bits are locked until you manage to get light onto them. So you start with one light, need to shine it onto the next control-point to activate that, then need to reconsider the level now that you have more control over it, etc. And you can't see what's going on in the dark, of course. Backing out of a level resets it, functioning as an "Undo" though it isn't really necessary. Click-and-drag controls are sensible, but there's some weirdness, like when you have a note or the settings screen up, clicks can still register behind them on the non-visible gameplay screen. Standard fare for small Unity devs, not too frustrating here. Very minimal settings, as you might expect from a Unity game. A few Steam achievements are a little wonky (though Steam isn't counting them -- "Profile Features Limited") but you can poke around the dead Discussion Boards for old but useful hints. The story is revealed through various notes and books you find throughout the game. Each piece of writing belongs to one of four main characters, and as you collect them, you unlock their stories bit by bit. In short, the plot centers around Charlie, an electrician who had a vision of the apocalypse and ended up starting a cult. Then there’s Jess, a journalist who decided to investigate the cult, Robert, Charlie’s loyal second-in-command, and Leah, the daughter of Jess and Charlie. And then there’s Rachel, the main character you’re trying to save from the strange situation she’s caught in. Relationships between the characters are not a spoiler because everything is revealed right away. The main challenge ahead is known as the Cleansing, which is meant to guide you along a path of enlightenment by completing a series of puzzles. Each scene takes place in a single room where you can click on various notes and interact with puzzles. Every room contains several puzzles, and often they can be tackled in any order. However, you don’t need to solve them all, just enough to activate the switch that opens the next floor. But if you do decide to complete every puzzle in a room, you’ll reveal an image at the center. The puzzles themselves revolve around the use of light and shadows. They’re not too hard to understand once you learn the rules. Each puzzle has a number of movable pieces, and your goal is to manipulate, rotate, and reposition them to direct light toward a yellow target. One key mechanic is that a piece can only be moved once a beam of light shines on its handle for long enough; this “unlocks” it, allowing you to move it even when the light is no longer touching it. The main challenge lies in the precision required. Obstacles often block the path of the light, and you have to carefully arrange the pieces to create a narrow route through which the light can reach the target, sometimes just barely. Luckily, the yellow target doesn’t need to be completely lit; even a small amount of light will activate it. Overall, it’s not too difficult to solve enough puzzles to finish the game and reach the ending. But if you decide to go back and complete every puzzle, you’ll uncover a hidden secret. Part of it will already stand out during your first playthrough; those strange red switches hidden in certain puzzles. When you shine light on these switches, they make a sound, but they don’t seem to do anything else. These switches are often obscured by the camera angle, but once you realize you can rotate the entire puzzle view, you’ll be able to spot them more easily. Of course, that means you’ll need to replay puzzles and arrange the pieces so that the red switches get lit. It’s not particularly difficult, especially since you can use the yellow target light to help this time. The only problem is that the game doesn’t indicate which puzzles you’ve already triggered switches in. Since you might have activated some by accident earlier, it’s easy to waste time replaying ones you’ve already completed. There’s also a slight bug with puzzles in the last room, because you can’t exit a puzzle when you start it. This can be fixed by returning to the main menu and back. Once you light up all the red switches on a given floor, you unlock a secret compartment; a keypad on the first floor, and an extra note or book on other floors. All of these hidden elements provide more clues, eventually leading you to four secret codes. But figuring it out can still be tricky, since you’ll need to carefully read the notes and closely observe each scene.
The game is really calm and chill, it's great to go along with some morning coffee and a light breakfast. You only need one hand to play, the mouse controls everything here. There is a weird "fiddle factor" to this game, sort of like playing with a rubix cube for the first time. The game also has some light point and click adventure elements to it in the hub area. Here you can choose which puzzle level you want to go to next and also click on things in the environemnt that reveal hidden messages and such. Artwork is pretty good too, it reminds me of the stained glass window artwork you'd see at like a church or something, it works well for the concept. Overall if you want a nice, relaxing puzzle game, you're gonna want to grab this one.
Light Borrower is a really fun puzzle game that has mystery and surprise in abundance. I really enjoyed playing it, and if you like puzzles and mystery, buy it, you won't be disappointed.
Interesting premise. You rotate, slide and move a light source to open up other control points to rotate, slide and move more things. Repeat until you beat the level by lighting the final control point. The most frustrating part is the finnicky controls that are often not as intuitive. Light will sometimes clip through things and activate/deactivate things unexpectedly.

Very innovative and challenging puzzle game!
Good short puzzle game. all of the puzzles were different which can be done twice for different endings. I really do suggest doing a completely plain run then go back into the save after the credits to do the bonus stuff. Story and lore is interesting wouldn't mind seeing how they got on in the past/after. the one i had the most trouble with was on the last level on the bottom right found it really difficult for some reason.
