I played this game as a child back in the days of the early 2000s internet, and I'm so happy to see it available on Steam! When I think of Shockwave games, this is the first one that comes to mind. The pixel art graphics are wonderful, and in this port they can now be experienced in fullscreen thanks to Tomysshadow's hard work! The original bomb puzzles and jetpack sound are back as well, and are now toggleable! If you want to go on a bonza space adventure with a wacky Australian man and his pet dingo, then this game is for you, mate. Rest in Peace, Shockwave.
Another blast from the past, now in spaaaaace! The follow up to Walkabout in Space is one of the best adventure games you'd find in the internet back in the day, and even now it's cool environments, its humorous and creative take on the planets of the solar system, and of course our iconic Aussie hero in all his hilarious glory are a timeless experience worthy of being a part of the memory of new generations to come. This version of the game even comes with the good old puzzles of its first iteration, which range from fun to challenging, and really give a sense of triumph to the end of the story. What's more, if you aren't into them, you can still experience the wacky story by just turning them off. The exploration in the environments of each planet are still the core of the game. If you liked Walkabout, definitely buy this game! If you enjoy adventure games, absolutely buy this game! And if you like games in general, don't miss out on this unique experience! Truly one of the masterpieces of the Edis brothers, a true gem of E-zone!
In 2019, Mobius Digital fixed Myst. They created Outer Wilds, an adventure game that improved upon Myst's format of exploring strange distant worlds by filling them with life and personality, and making the protagonist very much an active participant in an adventure that is both perilous and funny. In 1999, Ezone fixed Myst...
This game was a massive portion of my childhood along with Lenny Loosejocks goes Walkabout. If you want to play a great late 90s adventure game, this is a great way to kill an afternoon :)
Love this game, it brings back so much memories. Really got it for the nostalgia factor, but it's still really enjoyable even today. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys puzzles and a wacky story with wacky characters. This game will forever be near and dear to my heart.
Part of my childhood on dial-up internet back in the early 2000s. Frankly better than most mobile internet puzzle games these days, although I may be biased. The Jupiter puzzle is my archnemesis.
Hey look Donga! Uranus
Cute and fun puzzle game, although some of the puzzles were honestly way too hard to solve without googling.. I mean, you could keep trying for hours and even maybe run out of time and need to restart the game all over, but that would be so frustrating, so I just couldn't be bothered. I'm so happy to be able to finally finish one of my childhood games that I wasn't able to finish as a kid. The game crashed when I finished Pluto when the cutscene finished playing, which nearly gave me a heart attack, but thankfully it autosaved and I was able to immediately continue back to Earth after rebooting.
Just as I remembered it, with the exception of the bomb puzzles, which were not in the version I originally played. I heard the bomb puzzles could be toggled, but I saw no option to do so. The pixel art is a wonderful aesthetic, the game is filled with lots of funny animations, and while the planet puzzles have a couple elements that can't be solved without a guide, it's still a very fun game that hits right in the nostalgia.
I remember this game from way back, and remember loving it! Playing it again 20 years later, it still has a lot of the charm intact. Is it worth 20 bucks? Probably not - the puzzles are fun (except for Mercury...) but will probably only last you around 2-ish hours. Still, if it's on sale, I'll happily throw a few bucks towards some gamedevs who left a fantastic mark on my childhood.
