no map or mini map, all time i was lost
Initially I was having a great time with it. But the longer I played the more I ran into puzzles that I just couldn't figure out. So for me the game is essentially a pass, but since our only options are yes and no... It'll get a yes.
Lemma has some fantastic player movement and abilities, the satisfaction of chaining moves together is absolutely delightful. Having a relatively small file size for the game is also commendable! The level designs in the earlier levels are also quite good and fun to sprint through. However, the game's level design and level guidance suffers significantly in the second half of the game, where I was constantly confused as to where to explore next. I strongly suggest playing the first half of the game, and proceeding with the second half (the half where you get a "map" of sorts) only if you want more gameplay/story.
A reminder to myself not to play this one again. I recall 10 years ago when I saw jacksepticeye play this and bought it soon after. I never beat it because I just didnt understand it as a kid. Fast forward to now, I think to myself: I'm grown, I can probably figure this out now. Everything starts clicking, the parkour is fun, the mechanic to build terrain while running is fun, I get to the end and....what the ♥♥♥♥. What is this level design for the last level? The story never was clear and the abstract floaty, almost nonlinear, map designs were often confusing to navigate but that never stopped me from progressing. So then why does the last level suck so bad? The game is full of puzzles and yet the last one is the worst, most unpolished one. It gives a "map" that is nothing more than shapes that mean nothing to the player and when I tried figuring it out (following a doorway that had a corresponding color from the map to go to) I was only left with a dead-end and could only go back. Tried watching a walkthrough and even then I couldn't make sense of it, nor could any of the viewers either according to the comments. Even jacksepticeye dropped it after 3 videos because he was confused on where to go and he wasn't even at the worst of it in the last levels. I write this review in the case that I forget why I never beat this game and install later, only to be reminded why and become frustrated again. I wouldn't wish that to anyone either so I do not recommend.
