Hurts to give this one a negative review. This is exactly the kind of game I love to play and would hope to see more of made. The problem with this game is that the feedback loop in combat is very poorly done and it tarnishes the whole experience of the game due to the lack of proper information flow, animations, and pauses between player/enemy actions. There are little to no combat animations, the combat log can't keep up with what's going on during battle, actions taken happen so fast and with no animations it's hard to keep up with what's happening. In addition, there's no turn order gauge which just makes it even harder to follow what's going on, the end result of all of this being a clunky system that's just too hard to enjoy. It's really a bummer because the rest of the game and how it's set up is great. Create a party, get dropped into a world, and you're left to your own devices to figure it out. If the combat was even serviceable I could recommend the game, but it's just simply too rough, hard to follow, and unpolished at this point in time :(
This game has a ton of potential. As an early EA game it isn't there yet, but the foundation is. Decent chargen and chardev. Most blobbers do not have normal crpg content - this one does. MMX, Swords and Sorcery Underworld, Grimoire, BT4 - those are the only ones we've gotten since Wiz & Warriors, Wiz 8, and MM9 near 2 decades ago. We don't get many of these games so I have to support my favorite type of blobber when we get thrown the rare bone. You should consider doing so too.
So, this game is rough right now but it has all the pieces to be a decent blobber. Folks don't make those anymore, so I strongly suggest supporting this game if you have the means. It has several classes, races, stats and skills that make up ye olde fashioned crpg. Now it just needs to be cleaned up and more content added but the basic framework is there. I found the monk, bard, necromancer to be incomplete at best. There are skill levels initiate, novice, expert, master. Most of the expert trainers are missing as the land they live in hasn't been developed. You can level up to max but it's not in questing, just endless respawns of mobs. There are some higher level mobs to make it less tedious. The first town is fully fleshed out, such as it is. Think MM6, not Skyrim :) People are either quest givers and/or merchants and trainers. The 2nd town is much larger in size but most of the buildings are empty and locked. This may change over time. The developer has released a couple small updates each adding a little content and fixing some of the bigger bugs. Other games similar to this: Might and Magic VI-VIII, The Quest (lower graphics but complete and even has DLC) Dev has a discord but he's not online much yet. This is fine since I'd rather him code than chat. Somebody needs to take my place on the discord to help the n00bs :) Updated 9/27/20 Statement on should you buy: This game is $12. If you play any Early Access titles and like blobbers this is a no-brainer. The game closely resembles MM6 and already has dozens of hours of content....before it becomes a broken mess. There are several classes: Paladin, Mage, Death Knight, Druid, Thief, etc. There are a handful of races: Dwarves, Half Orcs, Humans, Elves, Half-Elves, and Khoth. Khoth is a human that has a dragon ancestry and can use a breath attack occasionally. Every weapon has associated skills: Swords have various attacks such as a fast slashing attack that does more damage but eats up endurance, a stun skill, a chance to bleed, etc. This is the same for every weapon in the game. Each has it's own strengths. Even a staff can be very deadly due to stuns and breaks. There are a ton of magic schools: mind, death, arcane, nature, fire, earth, water, air, healing, divine. Each of these have several spells within. Conclusion: I like what I see but truly don't expect the world map to ever be realized. Maybe if it becomes a series, but with one guy it would take years and years, imo, to fill in the content to match a Might and Magic. I foresee burnout, but hope to be wrong. However, there is plenty of content to enjoy today and the developer could really use some folks to try his game and help him find and squash bugs. I did it for 400 hours, so my turn is done. Good Luck KBC/whatever you're called on Steam.
Its similar to HoMM and it has the difficulty found in older titles as well. I like it alot. There is a pretty thorough manual made for the game - its pretty neat. My tip is that you should view every enemy in the early game as a life ending experience or else you will be surprised when a bat rails your character in two shots. However, just a little bit of gear and XP will turn those mobs into a farmable area. The game can be rough as well. Save frequently. Ive had plenty of bugs happen, some are actually fun and I would see them being cool. For instance, if you jump off a cliff it will keep your momentum and slide you around. Or sometimes jumping will allow you to super jump making you fly at least 2 stories into the sky. Others are gamebreaking like not being able to heal your character from potions to having the UI softlock you from progressing. The way I happened to do that was opening my options menu to which I couldnt figure out how to leave, only to see the green button at the bottom right covered by the hotbar abilities of one of the characters. And then there are just mildly disappointing, but not awful things. Like how it feels that someone with 2 alchemy skill for instance wont pick up resources better than someone with level 1 alchemy (or at least it felt like it). Or the fact that many of the mobs in the game share their art. I couldn't tell the difference from a weak skeleton or skeleton although the UI showed them as different creatures with picture art. Some mobs like Goblins have much more variety in art though. So its a give and take with that. Overall though, I like the challenge and the world that it seems to be built around. I cant wait for more spells to come out and content to be added.
This game will take you back in time to the days of Wizardry and Might and Magic. You will have a great adventure. Yes, the graphics will be outdated, and many of the elements are very confusing, but don’t let this scare you, in a couple of hours you will figure it out and start enjoying the game. Caves, islands, mysterious altars, abandoned temples await their heroes. I highly recommend it for fans of old school! GOOD : ✔️Interesting Quests (Without Modern Signs Where To Go) ✔️An Open World Full Of Dangers ✔️Old School Character Development (Levels And Teachers) ✔️Turn-Based Combat ✔️NPCs and Monsters Will Come To You In Your Nightmares ✔️It Will Be Difficult, You Will Get Stuck, Confused! You Will Experience Rage And Then Satisfaction! BAD: ❌Crooked UI ❌Few Achievements ❌Lvl cap (60) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBMrdvTSXfw
And don't forget to Subscribe to my Youtube

Join my Steam Group
After completing the game, I can't fully recommend this game. That being said it is a good game and definitely has some aspects I would highly recommend. Pros: Really good time killer. A good D&D vibe to the game without going full miniature. (if you are looking for this, that alone would make me say play it) CPU demands aren't very high, so that is definitely a plus. Character creation is simple. The story was good. Didn't leave any lose ends. Everything was neatly tied up and eventually all lore questions were answered. Cons: Not enough enemy weaknesses. It felt like everything was weak to crush. Too many enemies had pierce and stab resistance. Even extremely fleshy ones. Navigation was an absolute pain. Also had I not taken to the community for help about maps, never would have made it through the game. Skill books are often glitchy and can't be used properly. It will use the wrong book or say you need a higher level skill even if you have skill. The ranks and levels for skills just made for a very confusing system overall. The system message box is often overwritten. Messages stop appearing. Stats mean virtually nothing. Raised a warriors strength to 43 with the help of lesser strength potions. Kind of expected to start doing good damage, nope still hitting 35's. This was with a weapon who's damage was in the 100's too. Some critical aspects for advancing game play don't load i.e. hidden switches.
I like this game. But, ..... game isn't possible to play constantly. The minimap doesn't work. the motion pointer points in the opposite direction. After a fight the game very often freezes, it is only possible to save and restart. The enemies are difficult, the lava goblems on the initial island in the temple cannot be defeated at all, since there are no trainers to get stronger. The buttons are very difficult or impossible to use because they are covered and cannot be used even by changing the resolution. The enemies often disappear completely into the ground or are not visible at all. Quest information is not explained in more detail, search for lava pitch in the cauldera, but what is the cauldera anyway? I'm very sorry, but I can't recommend the game because of the many bugs. I'm a big fan of Might and Magic, but in this case it's now 2023 and maybe we can keep the old gameplay, but the graphics don't necessarily have to be as bad as they were 25 years ago. I use a 4k resolution, but the UI is so small that the items can almost only be seen with a magnifying glass. I really hope for bug fixes.
There aren't that many new blobbers out there these days, and there are almost(?) none featuring both free-roam (ie, not locked to a grid) and turn based combat. Still, I was a bit leery of the small number of reviews and rather rough look of the game. I gave the demo a shot anyway and was hooked. The exploration, character building, difficulty, and questing all have a great oldschool charm to them. I bought the full game and played through it fairly obsessively. It scratched a very particular itch I'd had since playing Wizardry 8 over 20 years ago (though, the Might and Magic influences are a bit more prevalent in most systems here). Overall, I had a great time. I'd be remiss if I failed to mention some missing polish and critical bugs, though. There are many display issues with the UI, including some instances of overlapping windows causing issues and text cutting off too early. It's generally manageable, but you can feel it. The balance is a bit wonky at times, but, honestly, that's pretty true to the era the game is pulling inspiration from, so I didn't mind it personally. Finally, I ran into a couple of bugs along the critical path that required patches before I could continue. That said, Blind Monkey Games was very friendly and responsive in dealing with the issues I had crop up and quick to push out fixes. If you're into this type of game, I'd highly recommend giving the demo a go and seeing if this one gels with you as well. There's a lot of fun to be had here despite the rough edges.
Not playable as is
If you are old school, like me, and loved playing Might and Magic, you will love this game as well. Yes there are quite a few bugs, but it is EA, as soon as I watched the video, I immediately bought it, knew it was my cup of tea..so to speak. Most of the bugs are fairly minor(more annoying than anything). The one that stops me is when I get to the temple, all my icons in the HUD disappear, as soon as I enter and cannot move other than spin around. But reading the discussions, the developer is very active, and addresses the issues. So with that in mind, try the demo first( I did not, cause it is my type of game). The map to this game is huge, when it gets done there will be many hours that will go into playing this Journey. I know I cannot wait, so I am off to start a new party. :)
