Legend of Cenama is an existential and story driven retro RPG that doesn't hold your hand, but lets you explore and find your own way to the end. Decisions you make can irreversibly alter the story line and the final outcome of your journey.

If you enjoy good old 16-Bits JRPGs, you will love this game. It kinda reminds me of Breath of Fire, one of the last games of its kind I played on Super Nintendo. Since Role Playing takes a lot of time, and I have a full time job now, I don't play them as often as back when I was a student, but sometimes I just happen to start playing one to remind me why I loved Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger and so many other great adventures on SNES. The battle system may not be very fun to the modern users, and the characters may look a bit too static, but this game is a throwback to the early 90's where imagination also played a part, since there were many hardware limitations. And I have to mention, that the music is pretty well done, full nostalgia with the chiptunes here. If you're a Retro Gamer fond of early Square, Enix, Capcom RPGs and such, you may just end up spending lots of hours with this one. PS: there are some pretty funny character dialogues XD
Really good game
Awesome game, I will definitely let my kids grind the ♥♥♥♥ out of this game.
Fun game. I really like it. I might let my kids play also some day.
Legend of Cenama brings to the table some familiar things and gives them a twist. To start with, the story is given by scrolling text just as any good ol' JRPG. Once you start, the first thing you'll notice is that there's no tutorial. That's not necessarily a bad thing as the combat system is really simple and intuitive, and if you've played any JRPG before, you already know the deal. But the lack of any tutorial battle makes you wonder all the time if there is something you missed, or if the game is unfinished. And this sense of unfinished-ness goes with you the whole game. The next thing you'll notice is that moving with the mouse is the wonkiest way of transporting. The pathfinding changes tile by tile and having the camera focused on the character all the time only makes you give unnecessary steps if you just click the mouse button and try to make a path for your character. I still find it more convenient than using the arrow keys, since you instantly run, instead of having to hold shift all the time. Once you're past all that, you enter the main world, which is where you spend most of the travelling time. The world itself is a great throwback to old JRPGs such as final fantasy, with nice touches everywhere. The problem is, you have no idea where you go, and the exposition text led you to believe you were a boy who has left the city, but instead you are his brother it seems. It's really confusing and bothers the mind at each step of the story. Anyways, you are put in the world map, no indication where to go or what are you supposed to do. If you are used to go to the right to advance, you'll find yourself probably with the first encounter of the game, which are probably Goobas. They are easy, but just not as easy as one would expect for the first enemy of the game. Once you realize you where supposed to go to the city and talk to your mother, you are given more story and given a place to go. If you spend your time talking to the NPCs you will quickly realize they are the best part of this game. The witty dialogue they have and the great jokes they make give the game a nice atmosphere and really help with immersing into the story. Not the same can be said about the main characters who progress the story. Their dialogue seems forced to make you go the way they want to, almost as if you were a child and they needed to guide your hand through the complicated and intricate story. But that is really different to what the gameplay and lack of explanation or help they give. I liked the story, it has some great moments and makes you feel all the spectrum of emotions on the characters, I just don't like the way it was given. That is not a fault of the game tho, but of the general format of this style of games. If you don't mind some forced exposition and being given a long story that's not really that immersive, you will find yourself with a loving, caring story. So, you are now facing the first boss of kinds, and are dying to it more than you think you should? That's because you have to grind yourself through potions and buying the equipment in the city. I personally dislike having to use potions in battle. I feel like it takes me out of the immersion of the game. But that is a problem of mine, as this level of grindiness is the same in every JRPG. If you like a system where you need to fight hundreds of bats and fire elementals before you can fight the boss, great. But it's not everyone cup of tea, so be ware. The last thing to talk about is the artistic side of the game. Music-wise, the tunes are great, they give each zone its own personality. The battle music is great too, and not really repetitive as most can be. You will definitely feel the inspiration from the whole Final Fantasy music in this, although it has it's own unique voice you can find. Visually, the game is great, if not a bit empty. The city specifically feels like it has too big empty spaces on the inside, and don't have the cozy feeling the feel they should when you see them from the outside. The world map, specially at the start, is mostly a green patch, which is kind of a dissappointment given the great battle backgrounds and enemy design you find throughout the game. The characters are a bit generic, but that is mostly with the NPCs, the main characters do actually feel like heroes, and their animations are great. Overall, I recommend playing Legend of Cenama if you're a fan of JRPGs and want to have a great story while being thrown into a nostalgia trip to Final Fantasy land with its music, art style and battle system. But if you're not sure you like the genre or dislike having to grind your way through tens if not hundreds of enemies, I would not recommend you start here, at least not in its current state.
I'm a crazy fan of RPG game, and I was in search of a classic RPG game for quite a long time. However, after doing some research, I came to know about the Legend of Cename, which is also an RPG game, and I personally fell in love with that game after a few minutes of play. One thing that I personally like about the game is the story. The people of King Balthazar are threatened by an Evil who is making all the people disappear, and I am going to save them all. This story makes me feel like a savior of humanity, which is pretty funny as well as amazing. So Kill enemies and bosses in the game, save the people and enjoy. However, one thing that I hate about the game is that it contains some bugs and flaws like the player may not be able to re-enter Catatonia Cavern, other than these flaws the game is worth it. On the other hand, the pixel art graphics in Legend of Cenama are amazing. Music adds more interesting into the game. I have finished this game 2-3 times, but still, I'm loving it. Even playing it for that much times, I'm willing to spend some more time on this game. I don't want to miss any single thing about the game. If you are looking to play a classic RPG game, I would individually recommend you to give a try to Legend of Cenama.
