Despite being released in 2009, L4D2 is still one of the best co-op zombie games ever made. The gameplay is simple to learn but never gets old thanks to the AI Director, the variety of campaigns, and the endless chaos that happens when playing with friends. Every match somehow creates a new story, whether it's a perfect team run or a complete disaster because someone shot the car alarm. The biggest reason I've played for over 3,700 hours is the Steam Workshop. There are hundreds of thousands of mods available, including custom campaigns, character skins, weapons, sounds, animations, UI improvements, and complete joke mods that turn the game into absolute nonsense. You can make the game look serious, terrifying, or completely cursed depending on your mood. The Workshop support is one of the reasons the game is still thriving after all these years. Another thing worth mentioning is the price. Valve constantly puts L4D2 on sale, and it's often available for just a few dollars. For the amount of content you get, it's one of the best deals on Steam. Even at full price, the value is incredible considering how much replayability the game offers. The game continues to maintain overwhelmingly positive reviews from players years after release. Pros: ✔ Endless replayability ✔ Amazing co-op experience ✔ Massive Steam Workshop support ✔ Great custom campaigns and mods ✔ Runs on almost any PC ✔ Frequently discounted during Steam sales Cons: ✘ You will install 200 mods and forget what half of them do ✘ Friends may accidentally (or intentionally) leave you for dead 3,716 hours later and I'm still launching it.
