МИША ЛЕГЕНДА ГОРОДА
Left 4 Dead 2 is truly a timeless game that I will remember 100+ years from now. There's just so much incredible content in this game such as the well-designed campaigns themselves, the cool myriad of Special Infected to fight (and play thanks to the incredible VERSUS mode), the crazy mods available and the hilarious character dialogue. Before purchasing the Steam version, I played this game frequently on console with friends and it was such a blast to conquer every campaign possible. I liked the game so much that, when I first got Steam, it was one of the first games I purchased. So many great memories attached to this game. Dead Centre, Swamp Fever, Dark Carnival and No Mercy are my favourite campaigns to play through normally. All the campaigns are consistent in quality but those four stand out to me for their map design visuals and replayability. Additionally, I do like how campaigns like The Sacrifice and The Last Stand have lengthy stages, providing additional challenges to players. The scaling of difficulty in each campaign is well executed too. The traits and abilities of the Special Infected are great as well. The Tank is such a monster to fight and the Witch requires quite a bit of mechanical knowledge to beat without dying. The Jockey and the Hunter share a similar pouncing ability but I like the differences they have. One takes you on a walk and one... rips you to shreds on the ground (in game). The Spitter is absolutely insane in crowd control situations and blocking off exits (one of my favourites to play in VERSUS). The Boomer can be especially pesky when exploding on your whole team and causing the horde to swarm you. The Smoker's ranged attack is so unique and is, in my opinion, the most menacing-looking. Finally, the Charger is goated. His charge attack is quite scary, especially when he appears from the shadows. Great collection of Special Infected to differentiate from the Common ones. The mods in this game can either turn this game into more of a nightmare (harder difficulty, sensory loss, completely new campaigns) or turn online games into a laughter fest (custom character + weapon models, new sound effects). Either way, the community mods are awesome. The extra gamemodes are cool. VERSUS is a perfect activity to play competitively with friends. The potential of Special Infected combos mixed with seeing who can get the furthest in a campaign is so well thought-out. So many nights of playing Charger and Spitter and just doing crazy plays. Playing against friends is fun as well, so I'm glad the developers have integrated this aspect into an already brilliant game. SURVIVAL's decent too. Wave preparation is important. The MUTATION modes are nice (I've yet to play through them all at the time of this review). SCAVENGE is good, just an item collecting mission. REALISM is a great challenge for experienced players. SINGLE PLAYER is not as fun as playing online with friends but still enjoyable. Fantastic gamemodes overall. Shoutout to the writers + voice actors of this game because the character exchanges are absolutely hilarious. The amount of times I've heard friends spamming Ellis' Keith stories, Francis' spoken hatred towards anything/everything and in general, Coach's voicelines have made for constant laughs. Music and sound effects are amazing scored/performed (especially the multiple Witch themes). Composed perfectly. I still feel like there's so much to explore of this game mechanically and lore-wise so I'm keen to keep playing. Even after almost 20 years of this game being out, it still hasn't lost any charm. Amazing game overall.
