Ledgerbound is a very charming game. It has incredibly written characters, a simple but engaging combat system, and regrettably, a self-hindering time management system. It's a little buggy at times: with a quite variable volume mix and some minor gameplay issues, but nothing too serious. This game is all about its characters - past, present, and their relationships to each other. They are all thoughtfully written, incredibly well-voiced, and have compelling stories/motivations. By the end of the game, I truly did not have anyone in the party who I disliked. Importantly, the romances are especially well-done - not written in a way that makes it seem like they were only included so you could jack/jill off to them (though they do make you wonder if the writers knew they are allowed to write smut without a game attached). You will likely see complaints about "Marvel Writing", and while the writing can occasionally channel that kind of "He's right behind me, isn't he?" style, it is for the most part, far more engaging that than suggests. Plenty of lines can seem stupid isolated and out of context, but when you're playing the game, it all feels genuine and is often pretty funny. Watch the trailers and clips, and if you can't handle what's going on there, you won't enjoy the full game. The main negative of the game is the time management system, which is regrettable since the reason it exists is tied to the central theme of the game. The idea is that you are an overworked office clerk: with only so much time to do things and the mental toll (burnout) of your work draining you. In theory this can be carefully managed by prioritizing who you speak to and what you do during your breaks but, in reality, it tends to result in a death spiral. Early on you have to choose between engaging with the best part of the game - the characters - or use your limited time to mess with equipment to help with combat. Too much of the former, and you could do worse in combat - which makes your time management in the future harder as you sacrifice time and gain burnout to deal with those consequences. Too much of the latter, and you both gain burnout as a result while also loosing out on the real heart of the game - character interactions (and relationship points that let you see more of them). I played on regular difficulty and found the management to be actively hindering my enjoyment of the game and so I made quick use of the option the devs added just a few days after release to significantly reduce the time and burnout cost of everything. Though if you really relish the idea of having to sacrifice for perfection, you need not do the same. Overall, a really great time. From the trailers and gameplay clips, you'll probably already know if this is the kind of game for you, and luckily, the developers seem to really be on top of post-launch support - so if it's not your cup of tea now, maybe some future additions will address that. The only thing it could really benefit from is some kind of save reload system or chapter select, even if only on a completed save. I know it goes against the games whole “live with your decisions” design mentality but there’s a lot of options and routes I still want to try but probably won’t be replaying the whole game just to experience them - which is a little sad.

Amazing voice acting, a good story, and lovable characters. The humor is very juvenile and sometimes verges on being cringe (though I can easily forgive that since the game actively markets itself that way). It is also balanced, however, by some genuinely serious and mature topics woven into the story and characters. As for the gameplay, the turn-based combat system is basic and gets the job done. What I really cannot appreciate, however, is the game's save system. Not being allowed to restart a fight or retry a "resterlude" becomes very frustrating if you make a mistake or want to rethink how you spend your time. Combined with bugs, missing dialogue, missing text strings, and optimization issues, it holds the experience back quite a bit.
I really enjoyed this game from start to finish. For those wondering if this game is for you I can only recommend watching the trailers and asking yourself 2 questions: "Do you find the humour funny?" and "Does the combat look even a little interesting?". If you answer yes to both, then give the game a shot. The game's humour is consistent throughout, and as someone who is clearly the target audience, I loved it all the way through. It's all down to the characterisation and voice acting in the end. The characters in this game are varied, and they all have depth and feel nuanced. Some characters, who I expected to hate, had me laughing in every scene, and characters I thought would be shallow ended up having a deep and engaging character arc. The combat is also good. It's not the focus of this game, but I ended up having way more fun with the mechanics and side objectives than expected. Doing all side objectives in the game was fun, but is also completely optional (unless the in-game motivation speaks to you 😉). As for the oft discussed topics of time management and the burn-out system, I liked it. I personally didn't run into any of the stress-spirals that I've seen mentioned, but I can see how it could happen, and the game now has difficulty options for disabling those parts. I wouldn't be surprised if the dev team are already working on further addressing the feedback from Steam and Discord. Personally, I regularly created backups of my save files for the occasional save scum of a battle, or to feel more safe in making decisions knowing I had a "manual save". And for those wondering... Yes, the game is very horny, but in a very tasteful, nuanced and funny way. Again, watch the trailer. They aren't hiding the tone of the game.
this game was excellent and SO MUCH fun! the writing, the voice acting, the combat mechanics, genuinely loved every second. 1000% replayable (soo many romance options) and i can't wait to see how it turns out next time i load it up
This a great strategy/RPG with a fun hook; as a hero insurance adjuster your main goal is making sure your company looks good to its shareholders. While I wish that was the entirety of the game's premise the story does turn into a fairly standard "save the world" quest, but the excellent writing and voice acting have me happily along for the ride. Combat is simple yet satisfying, and I appreciate that you can easily revisit battles to get those objectives you may have missed the first time around. Definitely worth picking this one up!
I am super impressed with this game. The story is engaging and funny. You can really tell that the devs put so much love into this project. This is my first time playing a tactical RPG game so I was a bit nervous going in having no experience. But they have a cosmic mode (easy mode) which makes the combat system really easy to learn! The voice acting is also incredible. Well done devs!
Wow. 10/10 A well-told silly adventure full of innuendo, genuine emotion, solid voice work, and good representation of kink and mono/poly relationships imo. Genuine fun. The banter about legality, permits, and economics is also hilariously well integrated. Additionally I adore the main character Rayna, and her "hobby". I particularly enjoy the hobby as it feels like a rewarding tactics game. You probably wont master the encounter the first go around, but you are rewarded if you do with more time to spend with the local hotties! tl;dr - you want a sexy dating sim that is also silly, and has good tactics gameplay, pick this up.
I enjoy a lot of what this game is trying to do. Most of the humor lands for me, the characters are pretty enjoyable, and a lot of the core mechanics are cool. Lets not even get into the amazing voice work. In terms of cons, I think the game lays too hard into its time mechanic. Equipping gear costs time, which is especially rough, but the fact that basically everything costs time can feel pretty bad. This combined with the breakdown meter makes playing the game on higher difficulties very unenjoyable. If you fail a map, your breakdown meter and time both get hit, which leads to a losing spiral that can be really difficult to get out of once its started. With the lack of manual saving and no save slots, it just creates the potential for a very bad experience the first time around (especially with how brutal some of the penalties of the breakdown meter are). The mechanics land very well with the comedy and tone of the game, but they drain a bit of the fun from actually playing the game. The above wouldnt be as big of an issue if the game had standard visual novel options that make replays a breeze. Things like skip text/skip to decision, a text log, multiple saves, anything to make getting dialogue you missed less brutal. Unless this stuff shows up in some type of ng+, it just isn't there. Ultimately, the game is pretty fun. Just make sure you know what you're getting into with the time management and breakdown meter. If you don't like those types of mechanics, you will not have a good time with this game.
Hilarious, uncomplicated, addictive and uplifting. It really does what it says on the tin, it's not very difficult to get into, the fight mechanism is easy which makes the swag stats easy to handle and shuffle about. There's some sense of urgency throughout so you don't spend too much time puttering. The only thing I could gripe on is that the relationship conversations sometimes don't make a lot of sense, and I genuinely don't know what's going on with hat rack where I forgot to talk to him once and now he has been sulking for like 6 hours of gameplay. But other than that I'm very pleased.
I've been waiting for this game for so long and it absolutely did not disappoint!
