This was fine, it's just there's barely anything to it. But I'm looking forward to playing the other game from this developer, I think based on this something longer with more substance will be great. So there's nothing wrong with this, there's just not much here at all. What's here is good though. I'm still going with negative on the review, since it didn't really tell a complete story or anything, so it just felt like a little taste. Like, I love ice cream, but I'd rather have no ice cream than just like a single spoonful, it's that kind of a thing. There was a bit of jitter/stutter with the camera, and when I turned TAA on once it started taking over my screen with a huge black blob. But otherwise performance was fine.
I got to know about Leaving Lyndow after trying out the demo for Songs of Glimmerwick. That demo impressed me so much, that I had to see what else the developer has done. Leaving Lyndow also happens to be on sale for 75% off and it’s known to be short, all buzzwords that made it easy to give it a shot. Leaving Lyndow is a fairly typical walking simulator game where you go to different locations, talk to NPC, read some notes and do a few mini-games (there aren’t many of them). What the game does best is bringing over the feeling of leaving a village behind along with its community through excellent writing, interacting with loved ones, beautiful/homey/warm graphics and soothing soundtrack. The amount of notes and dialogues are deliberate in adding to the world and they’re not too wordy, they feel perfect if you care about learning more. You won’t get to know much about the character you control (that’s not the point), but you will get to see how others handle you leaving and you doing some activities that feel nostalgic to the character. The world created feels lived in and that’s a pretty big accomplishment. The game doesn’t have any voice acting unfortunately, this could have added to the experience. The character models also look weird/goofy. I’m guessing they’re supposed to be different species but they could have been presented better even with that in mind. Lastly, others might not like the game being short. It took me around 50 minutes to complete the game and get all the achievements. Leaving Lyndow is a fine game, I enjoyed my time and felt very relaxed playing it. I can definitely recommend it if you’re looking for the next walking simulator game to complete within one sitting. It also made me interested in playing the developer’s second game, Eastshade. But that one is still a tad too pricy, I’m hoping it will get cheaper at some point. The normal price of €4 for Leaving Lyndow is okay, you’re getting good quality for that one hour. I got it for €1 (it’s still on sale) and I’m satisfied with what I got. There are 7 achievements with some most likely requiring a guide, but they’re not difficult when you know what you’re doing.

Nota: 6/10
