Lawnmower Game: Pinball

"Lawnmower Game: Pinball" ist ein kleines Flipper-Spiel. Dabei ist es schon fast naheliegend, daß sich ein "Lawnmower"-Flipper nicht ganz ernst nimmt und eher als Gag denn als wirklich ernstzunehmender Tisch zu verstehen ist. Allerdings sollte man dennoch nicht davon ausgehen, daß das Spiel ein Haufen kaputter Schrott ist. Sechs Tische gibt es, die sich allerdings nur in Details bzw. Positionierung der Elemente unterscheiden. Keiner ist auch nur annähernd interessant. Zudem scheinen die Macher so ziemlich nichts von Flippern zu verstehen. Was da wild beliebig zusammengeschustert wurde, hat mit einem echten Flipper nichts zu tun. Die Ball-Physik ist bestenfalls als zweckmäßig, in vielen Situationen als absurd unrealistisch zu bezeichnen. Teils scheint der Ball extrem leicht zu sein oder gar keine Physik zu haben. Außerdem erkennt der Ball gerne mal nicht an, daß auf einem Flipper eine Glasplatte liegt. Wirklich ins Aus katapultiert sich der Tisch aber damit, daß der Ball irgendwo steckenbleibt oder sich gar ganz aus dem Bildschirm verabschiedet, indem er durch die Wände glitcht. Zwar kann man am Tisch per Tastendruck rütteln, meist kümmert das den festgefahrenen Ball aber gar nicht. Dadurch wird ein als Spaß-Flipper gedachtes Spiel zu einer nahezu unspielbaren Katastrophe, die wirkt, als hätte man irgendwas an einem Nachmittag zusammengeklöppelt. Die billige Grafik und der schwache Sound runden das Bild von einem Schrott-Artikel gekonnt ab. This is a minimal-effort product where someone threw a couple of lawnmower-themed graphics on 6 very basic pinball tables and called it a day. The game is very cheap, but since it does not work properly, it can't be recommended regardless. After my first 30 seconds of playing, the ball became stuck irrecoverably - neither activating the flippers nor using the "shake machine" function would dislodge it. I had to exit back to the main menu, and tried a different table. This time it took only 20 seconds for the ball to get stuck. Apparently this game has not been playtested at all, or the developer simply did not care. In any case, I would not regard it as playable in its current state. Even without that gamebreaking issue, the game wouldn't actually be good. The tables are extremely simple - as far as I can tell, there are no missions and no different playstates. I couldn't even find bonus multipliers or extra balls, though it's possible that I just wasn't able to play for long enough to find them. The game also has absolutely no settings except a windowed/fullscreen toggle. Keys are fixed to A and D for the flippers, Ctrl for "shake machine", and Space to launch the ball. You basically have to use your left hand to control both flippers, and you'll have to place your fingers at an angle if you use an AZERTY keyboard. Graphics are rather plain, and the soundtrack consists of little more than 5 notes repeated ad nauseum. If you're interested in a cheap pinball game, I suggest trying the free tables of Pinball FX and/or Zaccaria Pinball. If these don't work for you and you want a few simple tables at low cost, then Malzbie's Pinball is also an option. "Lawnmower Game: Pinball" is, unfortunately, just a waste of your time and money - though at least you won't lose much of either. If you're interested in achievements - it takes 12 minutes to get all 12 achievements for this game. If adding another "100%" game to your library is worth the money to you, then that's the only usecase I can see where you'd get your money's worth out of it. Personally I'd rather play a good game than grinding through bad ones just to raise an arbitrary number on my profile that no one will ever look at by a few more points ... but hey, different strokes for different folks. :)

They lack depth and content, because they're just simplistic copies of demos or tutorials. In this case, "Pinball Construction Kit" is just an Unreal 4 engine asset pack containing a basic pinball game set, and doesn't have any merit as a proper, fully fledged PC game, so a copy+paste of it can't be recommended. Asset flips don't involve any professional game development. Sure, sometimes they may change a few cosmetic things, swap out different assets etc, but at heart it's functionally identical to the asset they're ripping off. Asset flips like this are harmful to the gaming industry and to Steam because they reduce the visibility that sincerely made indie games should have, and make it harder for gamers to find real games from genuine developers. Erinnert sich noch jemand an das gute alte Windows Flipperkasten-Spiel. Es war bei Weitem nicht das beste Pinball-Spiel aller Zeiten und doch hatte ich enorm viel Spass damit und viele Stunden in dem Ding verbracht. "Lawnmower Game: Pinball" dagegen ... nunja, das habe ich nach 5 Minuten ausgestellt, weil es so unerträglich ist (und dann nochmals laufen gelassen, um diese Review schreiben zu können). Und die Achievements beweisen: Ich hab' nicht einmal alle Tische ausprobiert. Musste ich auch nicht, denn es ist mehr als deutlich, dass dieses Spiel eher ein Scam denn ernst gemeintes Spiel ist. Schon grafisch ist das Ganze von A bis Z schrecklich. Das Hauptmenü erinnert an billige Windows 3.1-Shareware. Das Niveau sinkt dann aber sogar noch, sobald man einen Flippertisch lädt. Die Grafik ist lieblos und wirkt als hätte jemand schnell in einem Spielebaukasten ein paar Rasenmäherelemente hingeklatscht. Und genau so spielt sich das Ganze dann auch. Flipperspass? Nicht hier. Die Kugel glitcht herum und fällt alle 2 Sekunden durch die Seiten herunter, ohne dass man irgendeinen Einfluss darauf hätte. Physik? Gummiball! Oder Science Fiction, wenn die Kugel plötzlich sich irgendwo hinbeamt oder (wie in 5 Minuten Spielzeit passiert) einfach stecken bleibt, so dass man ein hartes Game Over durchführen muss. Das Design der Tische ist übrigens genauso lieblos wie der Rest. Ein paar Flipper-Assets, die lieblos über den Tisch verteilt wurden. Irgendwelche Aufgaben oder gar Überraschungen sucht man hier vergebens. Fazit: Wer schon immer mal "Pinball - Sein Erfinder würde sich im Grab umdrehen" spielen wollte: Et voila, hier ist dein Spiel. Alle anderen sollten um dieses absolut wertlose Stück Software einen riesigen Bogen machen. So, Review fertig, dann beende ich das Spiel und schmeiss es auf Nimmerwiedersehen von der Platte. Jetzt sollte ja genügend Zeit drauf sein, um diese Warnung posten zu dürfen.

The best lawnmower-themed pinball game I've ever played

I have always loved pinball machines, and they were one of the first videogames I played them in my childhood like the iconic 3D Pinball: Space Cadet, when I entered the gaming world for the first time. And I love this videogame because it is lawnmower theme. :-D CONCLUSION: I highly recommend it, both at full and discounted prices

Simple Pinball! There are not much to "play". If you like playing Pinball with your (Pre-School) kids, this is very nice, not too complicated. There are some locations, ball can stuck... Most times u can nudge it, some times it follows "Tilt"! Easy Achievements, 100% / 15min.
