Taskmaster VR

Controls don't work with the Vive and there is no way to change the keybindings to make it work. I was really excited for this game but have to refund it because it's literally unplayable.

This must have been worse on release, because I just finished a full playthrough over a few days and really enjoyed it! It's not perfect by any means, but it's a lot of fun. If you've got VR and like the show, it's definitely worth a look. :)

I do recommend this game, *but* this is the first time in a long time that a VR game has given me substantial motion sickness. The floor moves away from me when I reach for stuff, which really sets my stomach off. The added Half-Life Alyx style flick setting makes picking objects up off the floor a lot easier, but it doesn't help with that first kitchen task where you're forced to do everything with the spatulas. The short of it is - if you're in that venn diagram of Taskmaster fans and VR headset owners, check the game out and make use of that Steam refund policy if it's not to your liking (or in my case, makes me feel incredibly ill for some reason.)

Like many games, this one had a rocky launch. I played on Index and thoroughly enjoyed the game, none of the control issues other users (especially those with Vive hardware) reported. I am a fan of the show and enjoyed all the little references and in-jokes. I did have a few issues with hands de-synching from controllers often after completing a task, but this seems not to happen any more and when it did, it went away on its own within a few seconds. The developer is active on their discord, although their presence on the Steam platform is hit or miss. If you have any issues or concerns about the game, the Discord server linked on the store page is where you should go. They've now issued two patches to the game with some good fixes. I'm really excited for the creative mode having the ability to create actual tasks rather than just an item sandbox. The dialogue repeating when replaying tasks gets annoying, but I didn't expect them to be able to record multiple versions of every scenario with Greg & Alex. The number of times I replayed the sandwich task trying for the achievement made me cringe hearing the "Earl of Sandwich" lines over and over. This led to my discovery that you can skip any spoken text by opening and closing the menu very quickly. Suggestions for the future: hidden clues or tasks under tables or on the back side of the clue (as happens in the show frequently) and possibly addition of external environments from the show like the park or rail yard.

Nominated GOTY for most nausea inducing. I love Taskmaster and wanted to love this but the nausea is almost instant and VR almost never does that to me. Controls are clunky and not very customizable. Task design is fun but it's ROUGH.

I need to make a clear distinction here: as far as capturing the spirit of the source material, this is a success, but as a functional video game, it's far from it. The ideas for each task are all pretty fitting for what Taskmaster is, but it's so hit-or-miss how feasible it is to accomplish a task in the virtual environment with motion controls. A lot of these I feel like I could do pretty well given real world supplies, but it can get so messy with the wonky physics and limitations of VR controllers. If I wasn't a fan of the show like I am, I would have had a pretty bad time, but even trying to give points where I could, I was left with mixed feelings.

Cool idea, not enough content, editor doesn't have instructions, so I have no Idea how to set the goals for my custom task. Can't find a way to share my created tasks or download other peoples tasks.

I wanted to love this game. I love Taskmaster the TV show, and the concept for the game and silliness of the tasks are totally there! However, even with adjusted settings to help with motion sickness, this game was so nausea-inducing that it is completely unplayable for me. There is something about the way the game is designed that makes me so ill. The banter was a bit lackluster but I think that ultimately is something inevitable given the improv and interactive nature of the show. Ultimately the reason I can't recommend or finish this game though is because of the motion sickness.

hope this gets more expansions or workshop support, the content that made its way to the game is really fun (tho some of the physics puzzles feel a little questionable at times) would love to spend more time with additional tasks and items to play around with! taskmaster in vr has a lot of potential, and this is really nice!
