Played the Isaac DLC for 80 minutes. Very poor. You'll get a better official adaptation in Tabletop Sim for free Also I had to troubleshoot for 10 minutes because they borked the SteamVR runtime somehow
Was a bit worried about this, given the other reviews I thought I was going to run into issues with Virtual Desktop, but it worked through Steam as normal. However, I tend to use VDXR anyway which is the fix given by the devs I believe. As for the game itself, it all seems solid. Only played a game of Dark Castle solo and checked out the others, the environments are nicely modelled and in combination with the music, they do a good job of immersing you in the theme of the game. Everything is set up and automatically kept tidy etc. The predictive select can sometimes get in the way of what you actually want to select, perhaps a toggle for turning that on or off would be handy. Otherwise it has the same feel as Demeo in terms of camera control/player movement. It doesn't have the flexibility of Tabletop Simulator, for example there is no mod support currently or pens and all that stuff, on the other hand obviously the VR implementation is much better and feels good. It would be great if the actual rule books were available in game, while the videos are helpful, they aren't that convenient to look something up quickly and don't go into much depth. Some of the games support solo play (Rally and Terraforming Mars) and hopefully that support continues with the planned future games they will add, if appropriate. It would be cool to see Spirit Island in here. Managed to play with some friends, and I can see it becoming part of our regular gaming sessions.
Couldn't get past term and conditions screen, controllers not detected i guess. I'm using the Quest 2 as PCVR. Guess I'll try again later. Going to give this a no for recommending until I can actually play it.
Cant get past the accept EULA screen
This is awful. I love TM and play the app quite a bit as it's a bit of a table pain with all the bits. This was a terrible experience where cards were mistyped (unforgiveable - the card was supposed to be a +4 mc gain and yet said 64 credits -- not exact memory - close) I dropped one card that became permanently affixed to the table with NO way to pick it back up no matter how hard I tried. Dummies are just that. Blocks of wood that you have to play for so solo x2 3 or 4 is not what I had in mind, but the worst part is the actual interaction. They have this weird bendy line thing that comes from your controller and feels comPLETEly un natural. You know how you have a pointed line normally? Now pretend AI decides for you what you want to choose and where you want to place it. It's beyond frustrating. Bendy Ai line is awful. I couldn't even grab certain pieces on the board - IE oxygen marker etc. There's no "pass" button or anything like that so the game doesn't know when a turn is over - at least it wasn't obvious to me. I just found myself incredibly frustrated after 20 bucks or whatever I spent on these two. I won't refund it because I support board game effort, but I seriously cannot recommend this to others in this state.
Lots of potential here. It copies some of the excellent motion controls of Demeo to adjust your viewing angle and interact with objects. Twisting the board around is easy, and you can flip your non-dominant wrist for general controls. They've got the basic interaction thought out. I tried Escape from Dark Castle and it that runs smoothly. It has a terrific background to add to the feel. Then the components are added wisely. The game auto-deals the necessary components and resets the dice after each round, like a good Tabletop Simulator mod. Each player has a useful dynamic tracker bar that shows them their health/dice/name clearly. Even better, other players have a view of that bar so they can easily see it across the table! It's a neat physical object that is better than most board game adaptations. The only nitpick is that some dice get stuck on a thin corner of the dice tray. Although it's easy enough to re-roll. Overall, it's a smart system and has the potential for being the comfortable, one-stop VR experience we want. Smart ideas like "only one person needs to own a copy of the DLC" makes it leagues ahead of full implementations like Catan VR. They just need to get more DLC/games. Even delivering a standard set of cards would allow tons of games. The killer app of course will be customizable mods, which is promised for the future. That would unlock tons of potential by allowing users to create their own card/tile games. And it might fulfill the promise of Tabletop Simulator but with a fully baked VR experience. If a blank screen: I'm a Quest 2 owner and I was able to get it work easily by setting the Virtual Desktop streamer to VDXR (open the Virtual Desktop streamer application on your PC, navigate to the settings menu, and under the "OpenXR Runtime" option, select "VDXR" instead of the default setting). Easy peasey.
Finally it released!! this is the best way to play board games in vr for sure. The game doesn't hold your had though you actually have to learn how to play the board games. It does have in game video tutorials but it would be nice for ingame paper manuals or quick start guides. The ability to play them by yourself is an added bonus. Also, it does have built in scripts for certain actions like shuffling and for setup. The available games so far are nice but i cant wait to see what else they add. I would like to see more classic card game and other classic board games
Couldn't get past the Terms & Conditions because Controllers are not detected
I got past the agreement screen but then it's gets buggy when choosing the games (the pointers don't work, i had to load it a few times and clicking random buttons on my Meta 2. I did my settings correctly but still no good.
Las primeras horas, han sido muy buenas, jugando al ajedrez con un amigo que hacia tiempo que no podía jugar por estar en países diferentes, con ganas de que lleguen mas juegos y mas opciones en el futuro.
