With 300 hours, this game has held my interest for a lot longer than other titles have over the years. It's a middling experience, the scaling mechanics of your character aren't too interesting and skills being bound like they are with the big multipliers on their tree that can only be changed by the devs is not my taste. If you think you're a casual, that 50 hours of a game is a long time, this game has it for you and more. It's not abandondware and definitely don't like the choice of a class behind DLC but I've seen worse predatory practices, you pay for the class instead of stash tabs, personally I take the stash tabs cause they aren't ''mandatory'', I can play the game and micro manage my inventory and filter to fit the experience or after trialing the game for 40 hours I decide to spend 30 bucks to get tabs that heavily lift off the need to filter a lot of items. Which is what I did in that other game and never regretted it. Aesthetics aren't my thing again, a lot better than others games and it is distinct in the UI elements and other aspects of the presentation that set it apart from UE5 and Unity slop you see being loved by American audiences. ''Why don't you recommend this then?'' Because if I knew then what I know now, the inconsistent release cycle with very straight forward mechanics that give you reward you don't even need to beat their first real and only end boss or content, what's the point of them really? They haven't given me an incentive to tailor a build to do a mechanic better than all-rounders, you just get the best corruption, endgame system, build and it can do anything and everything. This game makes me appreciate what the game that inspired it already has, how much effort it takes to make it so and that those devs had it figured out years ago & having only improved since. So if you think you want to play this for a week or weekend, a dad gamer with 2 hours in his evening, I recommend. For guys who want a game to truly sink in their teeth, hours and life, you're better off reading books or going on a walk.
I've been playing this game for awhile and I mostly enjoy it besides the occasional boredom. Recently though i haven't been able to even log into offline mode without the game giving me a LE-51 error. I've verified all the files and restarted everything many times but it just glitches out. If you spam it, you can get into the server but you can't type in global chat even though you can see people running around and right click on player. Idk wtf happened but to go from no issues for years to not being able to log in for months is insane. So hopefully its just me having this issue.
Each time i launch this game i want to close it and launch path of exile 1
After almost 10 years, there's still no attack-move option ( See Grim Dawn). Additionally, the devs decided to arbitrarily delete a very interesting part of the game: building characters around procs. The standard defensive and offensive tools the game provides are, by themselves, really weak. This is fine in a vacuum (albeit very boring), since you can finish the campaign with them, and special items like sets, uniques, and special idol effects would be expected to bridge this gap as the player delves into end-game. Buuuut, some skills are extremely over-represented, while many others skills have nothing, or as mentioned at the start - what little they had has been completely destroyed since 1.3 As an example for combat skills, with reflect you can kill most anything before it has a chance to move, all that needs to happen is for the thing to look at you to oneshot itself. By contrast, thorns totem, an otherwise completely trash and useless skill on its own, had an amazing and fun interaction with itself and a few other skills where you could proc it to spawn when hitting something, then use the spawned totem as fodder for other skills, sometimes as often as 50 times per second. No other supporting items (after almost a decade) so the viability was poor, but it was fun. The devs randomly capped this to once per second, completely killing the skill. Some of the various defensive tools the player has, like dodge, armor, crit mitigation and block protect only from half of the damage sources, so the player is fully unprotected against the rest. Life scales very poorly. Endurance is now heavily restricted and capped. Resistances effectively set your protection to 0, else you would take extra damage... Which leaves ward, with hundreds of uniques and effects dedicated to it, as the only meaningful form of defence. Boring. I've been trying this game since beta but every change has been one step forward, two steps back; every single time, with no exception.
