It could have been a good game with better decisions, but so much is just half baked or suffers from weird dev constraining you into playing in a way that the game loses the charm. Don't think that will ever change, it is one of these games where the devs think they know better than the players and remove player agency and expression to give you a bland experience.
Liars.
Dude, what's funny about this mediocre ARPG is how closely they tip-toe the line between live service and offline singleplayer... ya know what. I don't trust you Eleventh Hour! No I will not buy your 60 DOLLAR SUPPORTER PACKS XD, NO I WILL NOT PLAY YOUR GAME, AND TOMORROW WHEN YOU DECIDE TO MAKE THIS GAME ONLINE EXLUSIVE FOR NO REASON OTHER THAN TO LINE YOUR GREEDY POCKETS, I WILL BE GLAD TO SEE YOU GO BANKRUPT!!
I can't recommend this game in its current state. For me it is the itemization. Arpgs are all about the grind for sure but this is too much. This was a better game so I have +1000 hours in it. So many layers of itemization and it's not fun when you grind like it's your job and not getting a single upgrade. This problem strated with the patch with the primal stuff and it got worse with the corruption system. At this point I can't take it anymore.
Each time i launch this game i want to close it and launch path of exile 1
Badge about optimized for steamdeck is lie.
the classes should be free
Promising game with boring campaign, good endgame and many flaws. After 2 years and 3 seasons i would expect a bit more than week of playing every season. Season 3 boring as hell - corruption mainly for late game with crappy bonuses, time fragments worthless, echo chains boring, servers working soo slow. Skill system praised by many in my opinion is crap - to many options too early, respecing and gaining new exp is waste of time. Game terribly explains itself - especially lacks stats on skills eg. crit chances. Skills triggers other skills and the next - it's hard to know what is actually better. Prophecies are good and fun idea, but later it gets way too long rerolling and finding ones you look for. Farming memory amber, bones is boring - same locations all over again. Weaver faction memory amber requirements needs rebalancing - too much grind. Game lacks in combat weight feeling. Items on character and mobs looks crappy, boring skills. Game still has stupid QOL problems: - you open inventory, and then shop, inventory will close - opening shop in endgame takes 2 clicks, why there is even option to speak? - why there is no respec guy in every timeline? - why clicking on map right button takes you to selected map, but clicking right in faction "Go to observatory" not? - replacing item +skill with the same item respecs randomly skill points, and you have to remember to distribute them again - it's SO frustrating To all that, devs promised all content free and now wants money for future classes - liars. Good things: - great loot filter - fun idols system - lots of stash space
Gameplay
The game shares elements with most other ARPG style games, especially PoE. There are five classes: Mage, Rogue (bow and knife gal), Primalist (Barbarian/Druid), Acolyte (Necromancer), and Sentinel (Paladin/Warrior). These later turn into 3 different masteries. In the game, skills are divided into active and passive. You can unlock and use all active skills of the characters in their raw form, but it only offers the opportunity to specialize 5 skills. For passive skills, you can upgrade them with points after each level in a classic way. Since there are too many skills, you can develop your character in different ways. Unique items are plenty and this is a good contribution to the game. However, despite all this, the story part is too short. After the story ends, an endless game mode awaits you, but I thought the endless mode was unnecessary and started again with another class. I can say that there is a lack of content in the game. Maybe we can see other mechanics as the game receives updates.
Graphics
The graphics remind me of PoE. They are very good and show the dark atmosphere well. I love the corrupted feel of some areas. Because of time travel, you see the same places change across eras. A bright town in the ancient era becomes a dark ruin in the future. The desert maps also look great with nice sand details. Every era has a unique style.
Audio
The sound design in the game is pretty good. Both the character dialogues and the combat sound effects are decent enough for this type of game.
Story
The story is about saving the world by traveling to the past and the future using pieces of an ancient device called the Epoch. In the beginning, one of the four gods, Rahyeh, starts a war against the others and throws the world into chaos. The situation becomes even worse in the future because a dark void consumes everything. You must travel through different timelines to change history and save the world.
Difficulty
The game did not offer any real challenge for me, and I can even say it was a bit too easy. The campaign feels smooth and rarely punishes you. The only part where you actually need to think and plan carefully is when you design your character and choose how to distribute your skill points.
Game runs good, looks great, and provides a step in complexity in-between POE and Diablo, but that's where my positives end. - The game is insanely buggy, to the point where some skills straight up don't even work. - Controller support has not gotten like any updates in 3 years and menus are practically unusable with one. - The story sucks and is incomplete. - Only the main story characters are voiced and some other random things very early on. - Less actual build variety than it initially appears. - Loot filters don't work correctly. - Crafting is very restricted and SUPER rng. - Respecing is atrocious. - Game is incredibly grindy thanks to multiple layers of rng that can instantly brick your item.
