I suck ass at it but I llike it. The demo does need updating though, the performance-improving changes in the paid game are not in the demo, so people trying it will be getting a far worse view of the game than reality.

This is my first introduction to the Touhou Franchise and i have to say it doesn't disappoint. It reminds me of games like Labyrinth of Refrain/Galleria or Etrian Odyssey. It can feel a little awkward story wise and even overwhelming with all the unique character introductions, some personalities are just so polarizing from one another that i found myself at a loss at times. But that's not surprising seeing as how much lore the characters have. The gameplay itself is very standard and the length of the game is quite fair. It does have it's challenges at times where as in other games you might be able to brute force a solutions, some of these boss fights require very in-depth strategies. If you like dungeon crawler-esq games i'd definitely recommend giving this one a whirl. It's also very forgiving in that it will never send you to the title screen after a loss, lol. I liked that a LOT.
First ever review, but should do more for games that i really enjoy, and feel like other people would also really like. Beat the game, and just taking a break and waiting for the post game later on I have seen quiet a few complaints about the difficulty, i played on hardest difficulty and yeah moving to a new zone was hard at the beginning and the boss was even harder, but i played it because i wanted it that way, if you like grinding then definitely play on lunatic and go at it vs the bosses, if you don't like grinding or hard bosses then no point in harder difficulties, I'm not going to put the game on Lunatic and complain about difficulty. No bugs from me in all my hours played on the pc. Now some points about what i really liked and feel other people will enjoy: -Touhou- Have not played many Touhou games or consumed the media, but really liked it -40+ characters- With a lot of different play styles so you will definitely have options of who you want to use in your party. -Played on hardest difficulty and felt like the grind/move forward with story was kind of perfect and i enjoyed it, if you don't like much grinding then i recommend going a lower difficulty. -Playstyle- So many characters and there is a lot of options on how you want to play, are there OP characters or some better than others? yeah i think so, but i enjoyed just picking who i liked and then making them work. -Bosses- Lunatic- they were pretty hard but i enjoyed grinding and looking for a strategy to beat them, you cant just force your way through with whatever party you want, unless you are overleveled. -Story- i really liked the story, nothing crazy but not bad at all. Definitely give the game a try if anything sounded interesting to you, or if you like turn-base dungeon crawlers. they also have a demo so give that a try if you are still unsure. The game does have some flaws and other reviews have said them, but overall the game is good enough, that i don't even remember or don't even care for the flaws that the game had. 1 good tip i have is to not feel like you have to rush the story, just take your time and enjoy everything the game has to offer.
An excellent DRPG with great map design and engaging bosses at a bargain price. Be aware before you start playing: there are currently major issues with the save system that may result in lost progress. 1. Every individual save slot is actually a set of ~100 tiny files stored in a folder. This is apparently too much for the Steam Cloud sync system to handle. Uploads / downloads of save data frequently fail silently, resulting in partial losses of progress (for example, it might sync your characters' level up progress, but not your map progress). These problems are particularly common if you install the game on multiple PCs / devices and have Steam running on both of them simultaneously. 2. If you disable Steam Cloud (cloud saves) for this game after previously using them, your saves will unpredictably delete themselves. I lost many hours of progress as a result of this bug. I'd strongly suggest only installing this game on one device.
This game looks and feels so good i wish i could actually play it. Consistently seeing a black screen when entering the 1st floor after recruiting Meiling (about an hour into gameplay) basically makes this game unplayable. Configured GPU settings to no avail. Already refunded but if this is a known problem with a known solution then I would happily try this game again.
