Claritas has a simple premise - make up a party from a variety of classes, try to synergize them properly for the challenges ahead, then get to it. You explore very simple square maps comprised of one terrain tile, covered with fog of war, which is exposed as you pass through it. You might find chests, random events, or the boss of the area. Defeating the boss nets you some items, including gems which are used for a variety of upgrades and crafting. There are random encounters, though there's usually only a couple of different foes per area. You can equip your characters with a variety of stat-boosting items to help specialize them or round out their defenses. Eventually you'll hit a wall that will either require you to grind or reconsider your party composition, skill set up and synergies. You can re-assign skill points as you desire for each character, and you can swap your party composition easily. The game also saves your progress with each class, so if you swap out a level 6 paladin and decide to swap him back in, he'll retain his levels. Claritas is pure gameplay - there's no annoying story to get in the way, text boxes to mash through, or anything of the sort. Once you get through the tutorial, you're good to go. If you're looking for something to play where you basically just grind and that doesn't require involvement in plot or the like, this is it. EDIT: The game currently suffers from a bug where it freezes at times during combats - it seems to be completely random. The dev has responded to discussion posts and said he'd investigate. EDIT: The freezing bug happens often enough, and causes enough lost progress that playing is now a gamble as to whether I will make progress or just lose time. Until it's fixed I can't, in good conscience, recommend a purchase. EDIT: The developer followed through and worked to resolve the freezing issue for Windows users. I played for several hours without an issue, so it seems to be resolved. I've changed the review to recommended, as it deserves.
Quick and dirty review: RPG maker style game that (for me) scratches the same dopamine itch as vamp survivors. Game cycle is explore maps and grind levels/gear. Very minimal explanation of the systems in the game so it is a learn-as-you-go type of thing.
Claritas RPG is a fun turned based game that allows you to level many different and unique characters. The loot system feels rewarding and grinding out maps seems to have lots of benefits for your later, much harder grind. You really cant beat the price for how much content is here. Get it.
I guess if you want something uber-simple and like, for kids...here you go. Kinda Final Fantasy like battle, I dunno...just started out grinding. I fought 2 battles and turned it off. Not for me. Very underwhelming.
Great little grinding gem. No fuss or BS just straight to it and "it" is good. Pros- +Complex builds possible. +Varied classes to fit playstyes. +Interesting take on passives, adding a strategic choice to them. +Varied yet not overdone loot to compliment the builds. +Various was to gain power, not just leveling. +Varied Boss battles, ones that can actually be difficult for the level. (if you didn't grind hard.) Cons- - Battles can get a little bit sloggish. - Not exactly inspired maps, leading to some additional slog.
Claritas is a simple yet engaging RPG where you command a group of 20 heroes, guiding them through dungeons of escalating difficulty. Each dungeon is designed as a square grid shrouded in fog-of-war tiles. As you uncover these tiles, you’ll encounter treasures, random events, or battles, keeping exploration exciting and unpredictable. Treasures yield gold, consumables, or equipment matching the dungeon’s tier, providing a satisfying reward loop. The random events are diverse and impactful, offering encounters like traveling merchants, rituals to summon boss fights, or village parties, adding variety to every run. Defeating a dungeon’s boss allows you to exit, earning you an enhanced treasure chest and gems based on the map. Gems are a versatile currency: you can use them to craft equipment (with each dungeon revealing a unique recipe upon first completion), purchase party-wide perks, or boost your heroes’ attributes beyond standard leveling. These perks are permanent buffs with effects like HP and MP recovery when uncovering tiles or even earning interest on your gold. The equipment system stands out from typical RPGs. Each hero has six slots, and you can equip any item in any slot, even stacking multiples of the same item. This flexibility feels reminiscent of a MOBA, letting you tailor a hero's build to your playstyle and party composition Difficulty scales gradually, starting off manageable up to tier 3 maps before ramping up significantly. After clearing all maps, you unlock the ladder at the bottom in the hub, a final challenge to complete the game.
great game love it
6 hrs in game is fun, but needs a bit of polish. But the core loop of map grinding is satisfying
Quick and easy grinding game that scratches the itch of RPG's .
