About
Kupala is a mystical visual novel in the genres of horror, drama, and folklore, inspired by Slavic legends and ancient rituals.
This is an Early Access version of Kupala.
The current version offers approximately 1 hour of gameplay, or up to about 1 hour and 20 minutes for players who wish to explore multiple story branches. At this stage, players can already make choices that influence the direction of the story, unlocking different outcomes.
The full version is planned to offer approximately 2.5–3 hours of total gameplay.
Little Anya arrives at her grandmother’s house together with her family, who are going through difficult times, on the eve of Kupala Night — the most important night for pagan Slavs. Among the creaking floorboards of the old house, in the warmth of her grandmother’s tales and the deceptive comfort of village life, Anya senses the approach of a mystical night when ancient spirits awaken.
The full version will feature a non-linear narrative with multiple possible endings, as well as meaningful choices that affect the fate of Anya and her family. Not every decision will be easy — only you can determine whether Anya survives.
The game is currently in active development. A free demo version, Kupala Demo, is also available and takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. The demo is designed to introduce the characters and convey the game’s atmosphere — the coziness of a rural home, the anxious anticipation of the coming celebration, and a slowly building sense of suspense.
All visual assets are hand-drawn using line art and linocut-inspired techniques. All sound effects and music used in the game are royalty-free and not protected by copyright. The game will be available in Russian and English.
Please leave your feedback — it will help make the full version even better.

Had no clue this was a demo till it got really interesting and says... to be continued... i did enjoy the story
Kupala is a lovely game. The artwork and music create a cosy atmosphere that turns unsettling and creepy in some moments. The narrative itself was maybe too long- I was waiting for a moment when I actually get to make some choices but the beginning felt unending. It did have it pros, though, as I was lulled into a sense of security and that made the few scares very effective. And as a fellow Slav I loved the stories about Kupala Night and old stories about our shared folklore in the game. I recommend checking out "Kupala" even if you're not Slavic- it's very interesting. I can't wait for the full release. The "To be continued" had me wailing.
Игра очень качественная, видно что рисовка сделана вручную. Сеттинг и тема хоррора были начаты хорошо, надеюсь дальше сюжет будет интересней и криповее.
