So I played the original Kumoon around 2005, the same year it released. I have been trying to find it again for 20 years. Along the way of finally finding it, I discovered this iteration, which seems to be a continuation/successor of the original game. Here's how I think it stacks up to the original after a wee bit of playtime. In the 2005 version of Kumoon, you played as a chick - the animal - with a revolver, a shotgun, and a bazooka. Levels featured a pretty sterile aesthetic, containing a series of red boxes that turn white if disturbed by bullets, other white boxes, or you. Disturbing a box granted you some points, but using your weapons deducted points and could bring your score into the negatives - as did disturbing the red boxes with your own body - so the trick was to ricochet your shots off of walls and other boxes in order to bring down more of them at a time. These ricochets would also grant you extra points to further offset the score reduction from shooting. It's a pretty decent free game, and I had a lot of fun giving it another go in 2026. In this 2015 version of Kumoon, nearly every aspect I mentioned has been reworked. You are now a robot with what I think is only one "weapon" where you shoot singular balls. Here, the ricochets are the defining mechanic, and you don't lose any points for shooting or colliding with boxes with your body. Accumulating ricochets with your projectile - without firing another - will increase the amount of points each box offers, with the goal being to beat a "par" score. The aesthetic is now this more coherent, cutesy sci-fi look, which I like just a little bit less than the original style for reasons I'll get into soon. One thing I do like here is that there are little screens on the wall that show you your current points, the current music playing, and your FPS. I assume this is partially for the VR mode, but it appears in non-VR as well, and I think it's a cool touch. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that this game has a VR mode! I have not tested it myself, but it seems to have been made before hand-tracking controllers were a thing, so you have to play it with a regular controller. Make of that what you will! Overall, I think Kumoon is a pretty good puzzler for the asking price, and having a VR mode is pretty cool too. I do miss the vibe and "art style" of the original 2005 version though... it really reveled in its own weirdness, where the 2015 version feels almost too sanded-off. I would say the updated mechanics are a lot more approachable though.
Not too bad to bad of an idea for a puzzler. I am glad the game was short cause it got very repetitive. It's worth the price if on sale.

I really like original Kumoon, but this is just amazingly poorly made. VR is even worse. Would not recommend to anyone to even try this.
Była w miarę fajna ale usunęli ją :(
Чисто субъективно - не понравилась игра. Не очень понял механику и не увлекся целью игры.

There are very few games I've hated as much as this one. I'm usually the one that LIKES ♥♥♥♥♥♥ games, but even I can't find the charm in this one. I bought it expecting some fun challenges and figuring out the angles for trick shots to be like solving a puzzle, but all I got was a $3 fee to get slapped in the face. This is one of the most frustrating and unintuitive "games" I've played on Steam. The controls work when they feel like it, the core mechanic is utterly broken, the level design is a nightmare, and to top it all off they stuck achievements into the mix just to remind you how unplayable it all is. If Steam didn't have a time limit on getting refunds, I would've absolutely sent this game back. If you take a chance on it, try it right away instead of letting it fall into the abyss of your library. At least then you can decide if you want to keep it while you still have the option to get your money back.
