Experienced on the Meta Quest 3
You can view my gameplay & early impressions here: https://youtu.be/fxf0nSB0MIU I did enjoy playing this game. It's actually very beautiful, more than the screenshots would lead you to believe. This developer has talent in constructing these levels which make them enjoyable to view & memorable. I would say this game is a mix of action / puzzle platforming where you control a puppet snowman. You're actually also doing some of the platforming yourself at times to get across the map, while controlling the puppet in some inventive ways. This game is unique. I have played some games kind of like it, but this developer threw in some curveballs that really make the game special. The best thing I liked about this game is that the levels were constantly surprising me with new mechanics being introduced. The levels were getting more complex and longer as well. It's not perfect though. There is some jank. The biggest thing is that your movement speed is slow, along with your turn speed. Which makes movement seem sluggish. Also, I think the game needs some way of better explaining some of the hidden mechanics. Although, I was able to eventually figure it out, it can be frustrating with no tutorial and just being thrown into the levels without knowing exactly what to do. Rocks with messages provide some info, but very little. Game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting mostly 72 fps (Quest 3 default), but I did notice some pop-in or slight stutter when loading areas of the map. You do have full locomotion, along with smooth or snap turning (or no turn option). You can play seated or standing (height adjustment). There is a comfort vignette as well that I turned off. Overall, I think this game just needs a bit more polish. Some tutorial to teach you the game mechanics as well. Maybe some adjustment to some of the mechanics which feel a bit clunky. Rate 6.5/10. It's more fun than it looks from the store page. Just needs some polish really.
Please note: I received a free Steam key through the Steam Curator Connect program. 👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑⠀⠀⠀

Follow Main group
Follow Second group
Follow Third group
English: VRosty, Tomy Horst provides us with a new platformer with innovative controls. The world of Vrosty, the little snowman, is getting warmer and warmer. This can't go on for long and he sets out to find the cause. Undaunted, he rolls through many worlds full of dangers. So much for the story of Vrosty, not exactly spectacular, but still topical. The controls are interesting and, above all, innovative. We move the little snowman like a marionette. We hold our hand over the little ball man and press the A button on the controller. Vrosty now follows the movement of our hand, just like a puppet on a string. This works wonderfully and the snowman follows us everywhere. He can easily get over small obstacles by briefly raising our hand and Vrosty jumps happily up and down. The little one is so attached to our hand that we can call him from far away using the A button if we need to put him down. The fact that we use the puppet function, which is actually the main control in the game, with the A button is a little confusing at first. However, the choice makes sense later on. Because in the last levels we also have to help Vrosty by building bridges and then grabbing them with the grip function. The trigger is, of course, sensibly designed for throwing snowballs. Our little snowman is not quite as defenceless as he might look. Once we have picked up a snowball in the level, Vrosty can shoot it around. We use our wrist to aim at the various enemies, such as torches and guns. None of the enemies pose a major threat and are quickly dispatched. So we steer Vrosty amusingly through more than 30 levels. To get a better overview, the player's height can now be conveniently changed using the stick. Apart from a few enemies, there are of course a few nice puzzles to solve and some great jump 'n' run passages to run through. The level design is mostly coherent to good. But beware! The floor is lava, but our frosty friend can't roll around everywhere; if we drive over the wrong hot surfaces, Vrosty will quickly melt away. Fortunately, at the end of each level there is always a handful of white happiness in front of our igloo through which we can escape to the next level. The game lives from the good controls and motivates us to keep playing. The story is secondary. The levels are all designed in a cute to funny low-poly style. For me, the game could do with more detail. The music is mostly chilled and fits well, it's certainly not annoying. A wonderful little platformer suitable for families. Vrosty is cool enough for people who like to chill productively under their glasses. 👀Against climate change🎊 my curator page. 👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑⠀⠀⠀

Follow Main group
Follow Second group
Follow Third group
Ich bin ca. bis I Dont Now :) gekommen. I really like VR games with innovative control methods and VRosty is definitely one of them! It plays a bit like a VR platformer in the style of Moss, but instead of controling your snowman with the joysticks, you play with it like a string puppet. Those are also knows as Marionettes, so this seems very appropriate for a jump'n'run. At any rate, you stay close to Vrosty most of the time and make him jump by twitching your hand upwards, which is pretty cool. There are also upgrades like snowballs, which you can use to shoot enemies, which feels a bit like a twin-stick shooter. Very interesting. In order to collect all snowflake symbols hidden in the levels, you also have to think outside of the box sometimes, and use your control methods in unusual ways. Later levels are locked until you have gathered enough snowflakes, so you better try your best. Also, as a snowman, VRosty doesn't do too well on surfaces that aren't frozen - for him, even warm sand is lava! So you are responsible for keeping him cool. Speaking of cool, you should really have a look into the game's menu early on, as the graphics preset is "Simple Graphics" - and of course the "Cool Graphics" setting looks much better. In general, the graphics are solid, but not spectacular - but they fit the game nicely. Sound and music are a bit on the light side, which is also not too important for a game like this. Also, there seems to be a bit of an environmental story to the game, but I haven't really progressed too far. At any rate, my first play session with VRosty was really fun and I think the cleverly chosen name for the snowman is worth a purchase in itself :D
VRosty is a paid VR puppet platforming game. It worked on my Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Was cute and fun for a while. Maybe buy, if you like platforming games in VR. I got a free key for this from the Steam Curator program. ViVE VR curator group
This is a quest game on Steam. My 4090 laughs at my Index at 144hz which laughs at my 16 core CPU which then guffaws at my 64MB of dediwated wam. There's only six flakes of snow per level because XR2 would melt faster than a snowman in hell if it actually rendered a believable blizzard. It's on an island because draw distance isn't a thing on Quest 2. The fires volumetric effects make it look less cosy than Mr Freeze's inner sanctum. Clearly, every ounce of optimisation counts for an applab. Game play is dodge, jump, collect, finish the level. Rinse and repeat. Simple premise that's been in video games since I started typing in game code from Beebug magazine at age of five on a BBC B Micro. Everything about this game is optimised for standalone. And I still love it. I love that it starts off more easy than it needs to be just to get you in. I love the cheeky wee animation on the puppety rolling BB9 snowman. The marionette control of yoinking the snowman up is fun. And, ngl, slightly tiring. I say I love this game in VR despite its mobile roots. It has redeemed itself admirably by being a lovely wee platformer. And consider that at the moment of writing this review, my last week has been spent mainlining (and completing) Ghostrunner in UEVR. Maybe I'm suffering from over exposure to rinse and repeat gameplay and my brain has finally mushed. Or maybe, just maybe, this is a awesome little gem which you will secretly enjoy, even if you don't tell anyone. Leave a review though. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks to the dev for the key. I'll be playing more until I'm done and I'll come back and update this review with my final impressions.
Don't let this melt away❕
This game is creative, charming, casual, clever, and yes, cool. It does get harder as you go, and does get close to frustrating in a few spots, but not for too long. It's not perfect, and I did have to take a break due to looking at the floor too much. But overall, it's a good game and DEFINITELY worth the $12 USD asking price. If anyone has questions, feel free to stop by our group chat and ask. 🔥►Meet people CHILL'N now (in group CHAT link below) 🏆►VR Giveaways and CHAT 🏆 https://steamcommunity.com/groups/JoinUsInVR Dear Dev, please contact me if you would like some of our Game Tester's to help make this a hit!
I played this game for 55 minutes and it gave me a stroke. It is more frustrating than playing triple A games.
Got this game real cheap on sale, no complaints. It has an innovative control scheme, feels like controlling a marionette puppet or something. It's a simple platformer with progressively more challenging, but short levels. Good variety so far.
NOTE: REVIEW MODIFIED AFTER HOURS OF PLAY. I finished the game, both bad & good ending. It's a platform game with simple but well-made graphics, and a somewhat neutral but likeable protagonist. The control system is particular: to have semi-direct control of the protagonist you have to constantly hold down a button that hooks him to your hand, and to jump you have to move your hand upwards. This system doesn't work perfectly, it's often a source of frustration and appears to be an unnecessary complication, plus the game totally lacks a tutorial. Because of this, what could have been a very enjoyable platform game turns out to be an enjoyable but cumbersome game. If you can get used to the control system, you will appreciate it. My opinion, despite the criticisms, is POSITIVE. A note of merit goes to the ecological message that pervades the game.
