About

Welcome to Carmel, an Academy Citadel renowned for its cutting-edge technology, where survival of the fittest is the only law and strength reigns supreme.
The "Carmel Star" —symbolizing the ultimate honor— is the goal students dream of. As the Centennial Anniversary approaches, a new "Carmel Star Election" is about to begin.
You represent a mysterious "exchange student" who suddenly appears, determined to join the competition.
To get the Carmel Star you will have to explore the sprawling labyrinth that is the Academy Citadel, a treacherous place where technology can unravel reality itself with mind-bending illusions, impossible machines, and self-contained biomes.
Each area demands mastery of your fluid powers. Use your special abilities to overcome deadly traps. Return to previous zones with your newfound powers to uncover secrets hidden behind illusory walls and locked gates, revealing shortcuts and unexpected treasures.

In this Academy where "survival of the fittest" is the only law, exceptional power is the key to turning ambition into reality.
Master Kotama's unique fluid constitution to weave through hordes of bizarre enemies with blistering speed. Switch weapons seamlessly, combining them with skills and Memocards to chain dazzling combos. When your energy peaks, unleash a Fluid Detonation to wipe the field in a flash.

Different sections of the Academy Citadel are guarded by powerful creatures or robots that will stand in your way to the dreamed Carmel Star. They all have unique attacks and game mechanics, but all are strong enough to destroy you in a heartbeat; it will take all your skills to emerge victorious.
Master your opponent's patterns, parry at the critical moment to neutralize lethal strikes, and break their stance. As you enter bullet time, seize the fleeting openings to deliver a decisive, crushing blow.

You are not completely alone in this adventure – there are other peculiar, captivating students scattered across the Academy Citadel! Aid them during your journey, uncover their stories, and earn their loyalty as allies in your search for the Carmel Star. What might seem like a small choice at the moment could make a real difference and end up saving the Academy and deciding your fate.

The Academy Citadel welcomes challengers of all kinds, offering a range of difficulty settings to suit your style. I get why people love this game - the combat has real depth, and there's genuine satisfaction in learning enemy patterns and mastering the flow of a fight. The art direction is fantastic: gorgeous backgrounds, smooth movement and combat animation, and the character designs (the girls especially) are absolutely top-tier. Early on, reading enemy tells, timing parries, and knowing when to dash away from unblockable hits felt genuinely rewarding. Unfortunately, this game just isn't for me. I picked Normal expecting a moderate challenge where I could relax and enjoy the story, but by the midpoint both the story and the combat stopped being fun and started being a chore. The sci-fi narrative leans into a "smart, complex plot with a big reveal" structure that's grown into a cliché for me after a few similar Chinese platformers - the underlying message always ends up feeling the same, even if the setting (a survival-of-the-fittest academy with hidden secrets) is dressed up differently. Combat-wise, bosses and enemies increasingly spam unblockable attacks, making parry almost irrelevant - instead it's all about memorizing tight dash-invincibility windows. I don't enjoy that kind of grind-heavy, trial-and-error pattern memorization that's common in a lot of Asian action games; it turned into a second job rather than something fun. Worse, when I tried to just lower the difficulty to enjoy the story, the game wouldn't let me - I had to grind resources and levels instead, which killed the experience for me. So: great art, great animation, great character designs - genuinely top-notch there. But between the story feeling overly familiar and the combat demanding a tryhard mindset I wasn't looking for, I ended up regretting the purchase.
To be forward about it, I bought this game for the Ecchi CGs. Regardless of that, this game is a solid Metroidvania. The bosses are fun and challenging, the combat feels good, the platforming sections/puzzles felt rewarding to complete. If you asked me if I'd recommend this game, obviously I do. To do everything and get all achievements, it took me about 27 hours and a half, I think that a good length for a game like this. The story is whatever, and the music, too me, is at best serviceable, but all the character designs are top notch in my book, they all have their own distinct charm that I liked. I like that Kotama hums to herself if you idle. With all that said how Ecchi is this game? It's not very, *Spoiler Alert* there's like 5 solid CGs and they're very brief; which is either a boon or negative depending on who you are. For me, it's less than I would've liked. The game's fun though, so all is forgiven of course.
除5大区域对应的5个演出型Boss(真结局感觉会多一个会长,或者还有其它隐藏Boss?),区域小Boss打败之后就会变成常驻小怪。
At first I was a bit sceptical but still wanted to give it a shot. I'd say it's a hidden gem, a bit rough around the edges but overall I had fun so far. Still got a few things to do in the game at review time but overall it's not bad. Game could be a tiny bit longer tho. :3 I hope for either more content or a sequel with Kotama. I really like her design. Keep in mind that the game is not completely on the easy side depending on chosen difficulty. Also you may want to get used to parry fairly early too, otherwise you're in for a rough time on certain bosses. Combat is super fluid and intuitive and the bossfights are quite well designed as well. A big plus is, that you can get all endings in one playthrough. Platforming sections are also fair designed despite some offscreen shenanigans in rare cases. Also the OST is very good and fits quite well and every boss has their own theme which is great. Makes them more memorable. Overall I'd recommend the game, it's a nice one which should get more attention in my opinion.
This is my 4th Metroivania. I give it a 7.5. Loved the visuals and combat system.
