Kingdoms and Castles is a city-building simulation game about growing a kingdom from a tiny hamlet to a sprawling city and imposing castle. Make trade agreements, alliance, and war with neighboring AI controlled kingdoms. Each villager and resource is individually simulated.

Good times!
9/10. I like how it calms me down and makes me competitive. its old but I still enjoy playing it and making custom banners for it. My only real downside is it will never update again and mods are not really a thing. still would recomend.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

A nice simply city builder/colony sim without a lot of complex systems making it a good entry point for anyone getting into genre. The devs are still updating the games with new stuff which is always exciting when they come!
First time colony sim, wanted something user-friendly to try. Glad other users recommended this to try, because it is very user friendly, simplistic and easy to figure out. Looking forward to training my own dragon!!!
this game must perfectly encapsulate the medieval experience of running a city, as playing it was a non-stop slog of trying to manage a city physically incapable of self-sufficiency. people are hungry? great, let's divert workers to food production! (because somehow every citizen you have is just a net negative on every resource, so you can never have a big enough population to fill every job you have and just have to divert workers to jobs as needed). oh darn, now that i'm doing that, there aren't enough barkeeps, clergymen, or doctors, and now everyone is sad and sick. also somehow there is still a food shortage despite being making several hundred food units in the positive this year. best lower my taxes to keep my people happy enough to not revolt! oh now i can't pay the people training my dragons (who are the only feasible way to protect your city sufficiently without being negative in income), and now the viking and dragon attack every seven or so years has arrived and burned my crops and now people are hungry again. repeat ad nauseam. i definitely don't dislike kingdoms and castles, hence the positive review: it's really cute and super accessible. but for the love of god, don't play on its hard difficulty, it's not hard, it's infuriating, even as someone who tends to be pretty good at city builders. p.s., some higher density housing and better pathfinding for transporting food would fix a lot of this game's problems.
Kingdoms and Castles is one of those games that's dangerously easy to lose track of time in. What starts as a tiny village slowly becomes a thriving kingdom, and watching that transformation is incredibly rewarding. Every new house, farm, wall, castle, and dock feels like another step toward building something you're genuinely proud of. The balance between relaxing city-building and strategic resource management kept me hooked from beginning to end. I ended up spending nearly 50 hours with the game and earning every achievement. The final achievement—reaching 5,000 population—was by far the hardest. It took a lot of planning, patience, and optimization to keep such a massive kingdom alive and functioning. Finally seeing that achievement pop felt incredibly satisfying and made the journey even more rewarding. The charming art style, relaxing soundtrack, and satisfying progression make it so easy to say "just one more year"... only to realize hours have passed. If you enjoy city builders that are both cozy and surprisingly deep, I can't recommend this game enough. It's one of the most rewarding city-building games I've played, and earning 100% felt like a true accomplishment.

good game
Very fun combining kingdom management & tower defense, please consider more defensive towers/artilery and please add more monsters wave like Harpy, etc.
