Worthy Risk of Rain 1 spiritual successor mixed with weapon mechanics of Enter the Gungeon and modern pop culture references. Quality pixel art and the difficulty of old nintendo games greatly adheres to the vibe of arcade games.
real madness, but not the good madness
SPOILERS AHEAD Disclaimer: Big roguelite fan and also big fan of risk of rain. Overall the game is fun to play and the gameplay feels very fluid. It seems to borrow heavily from Risk of Rain (the first one, as it's 2D) and it improves greatly on the game. There are a number of bugs that need to be worked through, but overall the game is enjoyable and I have faith that the team will take care of things. My review is only based on the solo experience, but no major complaints so far. Likes: The artwork is beautiful. Props to the artists. Gameplay is fluid. The dashes feel great and abilities are fun to use. Movement isn't frustrating at all - I do wish the base character speed were slightly higher though. Bosses are unique and fun (although the chadworm seems pretty underwhelming by the time I encounter it usually - seems to get wrecked so fast due to being able to damage multiple segments) Playable character design is great (only unlocked the first two playable ones so far) Could improve: Was able to buy out the gem shop really quickly - seem to just have an increasing pile of gems and nothing to use them on (unless there is a new unlockable shop I haven't encountered). Would love to see a little more replayability in the unlocks - like maybe a system that permanently (but slightly improves) the passives you find throughout the game. Or a system that requires increasingly more gems as you roll so that you don't buy out the whole shop in the first 2 hours. The 2nd playable character is absolutely busted and makes the first character seem lame. iframes on his Q attack means he basically has a 2nd dodge roll, which is super important in the game. His default gun is also superior to the first character's due to its range and hitscan properties. In fact, his gun is so good, I rarely find myself using any of the limited ammo gun drops. While the playable character design is neat, and the skills feel really fun and well thought out, the other NPCs are just...there. Really feels like a lot of wasted potential unless they eventually do something interesting.
单人一开始碰到几个远程巫师的技能太过于恶心,范围太大,速度又快,而且还无视地形,最关键的是随时可能会在同一个位置再次刷新,不管我有没有移动过位置。 这该死的设定制作组来恶心我的?
I'd give it a sideways thumb. It's very unpolished and nothing about progression is explained past a little banner at the top of the screen which is extremely easy to miss. The gameplay itself is fun with the exception that managing ammo in a bullet hell feels horrible and a 5 second cooldown dash is not fun to play with.
After finally playing it again since it's release, I can say I would recommend this game. Although it's not without it's flaws, I believe that it's a solid 2D Rougelite Platformer game. The only thing I'd improve upon are fixing some of the layering when it comes to the blurred background setting, as when bosses start in the background they're also blurred.

Due to the absence of any spanish review, I'll write in both languages. English: Let's get to the point. The game has a good core. It takes inspiration from big titles like Risk of Rain or Enter the Gungeon and does it quite successfully. It is a dynamic and entertaining game, with very nice pixelart and very polished animations. Now my main problems are 2: The game seems VERY unclear to me regarding the hub. I don't know what diamonds are for I don't know how to unlock characters, I don't know what the blacksmith does. I would like a little more clarity on how some of those systems work. The second problem is the spawn of the enemies, which nowadays is very annoying and frustrating. If these things are fixed, the game will improve greatly. Even so, I think at this moment, the experience is still positive.
This is a tough one, on one hand the game looks and plays really well, the controls are lightening fast, movement straight forward but they don't need to be complex, they are really responsive which needed. Boxes ticked then, control, great, looks, great, responsiveness great. On the other hand and the tough part, for me this game just isn't for me, I am not sure what changed and when but I can't get on with the final versions of the game, that does not mean that will be the same for everyone, indeed this is potentially down to my lack of skill and slow old hands. I have no doubt this game will tick a lot of boxes for a lot of people just sadly not me. I am not a fan of the the constant spawning enemies, or seemingly constant spawning, I assume this is the respawn timers on the enemies but boy does that timer feel fast; it also seems like you get extra enemies on the respawn too, I was fighting mage, killed it, as I walked away another spawned, then a Lizard man right behind it by the time you have killed that enemy another mage is there and it seemed to go on like that constantly. This kind of gameplay is going to work for many people, like I said, just sadly not for me but you have to into account that is for me, I don't have the reflexes I used to have and I feel you need good reflexes to play this well. The game is also meant to be hard, very hard and it succeeds at that well. I can easily say that the game itself is pretty and a well made a passion project by a lovely team of devs that have, for months and months, now have been busy trying to make a great game for everyone, sadly I don't think it is for everyone, though those it is for are in for a treat. I would recommend it but only if you are looking for that tough, tough challenge! Backed the game at Kickstarter.
