There are still a lot of things that need to be improved for now, but I liked it.
MEGADOG!!!
It'd be cool if the weapon options were color-coded by rarity. Aside from that, if you're a fan of Vampire Survivors, Brotato, and Megabonk, you should definitely buy it. The price is really good.
MEGADOGGGGGGGG
It's a fantastic game. I really enjoyed playing it.
The controls were a bit challenging; at one point I felt almost immortal, but I still ended up dying. As someone who plays Megabonk a lot, I think the game will improve over time I liked it.
Good game I am on the top 1 in leaderboard right now.
I really appreciate that you listened to the feedback and added features like the leaderboard after the demo. That was a great move. I genuinely enjoyed playing it. It’s the kind of game I can keep coming back to just to beat my own high score. It’s especially fun to play while listening to a podcast in the background or chatting with friends on Discord. Definitely a game I’ll keep playing.
I enjoyed playing leadearboard part makes it game more fun but still need some development
King Charles: Rise of the Alpha is a survival roguelite developed by DodoModo and BoppoLoppo and published by Realify Games. Built around the increasingly popular arena-survival formula, the game introduces players to an unlikely hero: a courageous canine king determined to overcome endless waves of enemies. While its premise carries a playful and humorous tone, the gameplay underneath is surprisingly focused and addictive, combining automatic combat mechanics, progression systems, and strategic character development into a package designed for repeated runs. The game's foundation revolves around surviving increasingly dangerous enemy assaults while gathering experience and resources. Like many titles in the genre, attacks occur automatically, allowing players to dedicate their attention to movement and positioning. This design choice transforms every session into a balancing act between aggression and survival. Navigating through dense enemy formations while collecting rewards becomes increasingly challenging as the battlefield fills with threats, creating a constant sense of momentum that keeps players engaged from the opening minutes to the final moments of a run. One of the most enjoyable aspects of the experience is the flexibility offered by its upgrade system. As players level up, they are presented with cards that unlock new powers or improve existing abilities. These upgrades shape the direction of each playthrough and encourage experimentation. Some combinations emphasize overwhelming offensive power, while others focus on defensive resilience or utility-based strategies. Because the available upgrades can vary from run to run, players are often encouraged to adapt rather than relying on a single predetermined build. This element of unpredictability helps maintain long-term replay value and ensures that repeated sessions remain interesting. Weapon progression also plays a major role in the game's appeal. The ability to enhance and modify attacks creates a satisfying sense of growth throughout each run. What begins as a modest arsenal can evolve into a devastating collection of abilities capable of clearing entire groups of enemies in seconds. The steady increase in power is one of the defining pleasures of the roguelite genre, and King Charles: Rise of the Alpha successfully captures that feeling. Watching a carefully planned build transform into an unstoppable force provides a rewarding payoff for strategic decision-making. Outside individual matches, the game offers a permanent progression system that rewards continued play. Through upgrades earned between runs, players can improve key attributes such as health, damage output, movement speed, experience gain, and other useful statistics. This persistent advancement creates a sense of accomplishment even when a run ends in failure. Rather than feeling punished for defeat, players are encouraged to return stronger and more prepared, which helps maintain motivation during difficult stretches. The inclusion of a luck-based mechanic adds another layer of depth to progression. By investing in luck-related upgrades, players can improve the quality of future rewards and increase the chances of obtaining more powerful abilities. While randomization remains an important component of the experience, the system gives players a degree of influence over their future opportunities. This balance between chance and player agency helps keep progression engaging without making success feel entirely dependent on luck. Combat pacing benefits greatly from the appearance of powerful miniboss encounters. These enemies arrive periodically and serve as significant difficulty spikes that test the effectiveness of a player's current build. Unlike standard opponents, minibosses demand greater awareness and positioning, forcing players to react to more dangerous situations. Successfully defeating them yields valuable rewards and creates memorable moments that break up the routine of standard wave clearing. These encounters help ensure that the gameplay remains dynamic throughout a session. Visually, the game embraces a colorful and approachable style that matches its lighthearted premise. The canine protagonist provides a unique identity that distinguishes the title from many competitors in the survival roguelite genre, where darker fantasy and science-fiction themes are often more common. The cheerful presentation helps make the action feel accessible while still delivering the intense combat scenarios expected from the genre. Although the visuals are not groundbreaking, they effectively support the game's personality and overall charm. As an Early Access project, the game is clearly intended to grow over time. The developers have outlined plans to expand the content with additional enemies, upgrades, environments, and gameplay features. This roadmap suggests that the current version serves as a foundation for a larger experience. Players who enjoy participating in the development journey of indie games may appreciate the opportunity to see the project evolve through future updates and community-driven improvements. King Charles: Rise of the Alpha does not attempt to completely reinvent the survival roguelite formula, but it understands what makes the genre enjoyable. Fast-paced gameplay, satisfying progression, meaningful build customization, and a humorous central concept come together to create an experience that is easy to pick up and difficult to put down. The combination of accessible mechanics and strategic depth makes it appealing to both newcomers and experienced roguelite fans. While some players may wish for more content and variety as development continues, the existing foundation is solid and entertaining. Rating: 7/10
