Great game that makes me miss living in Finland even more! Cons: Maybe could be 30% cheaper for what it is A puzzle near the end stumped me until I watched another player play it, and the mailbox should be easier to find Feels like a plot hole at the end With the available material, also feels like the game could've been double the length with a bit more to explore Some bugs, especially relating to using a key (had to reload the game twice, from a savepoint, to retrigger the 'click' event of the key, after nothing happened the first time) Pros: The Instagram mechanic (best innovation I've seen in a while), got me addicted to checking comments and liking other people's comments The humour and variety of comments, a lot of the commenters were great characters to the story Great pacing, it transitions to different moods fairly well Attention to detail and art style, I loved seeing an accurate Finnish cottage and wood sauna Lots to explore and interact with on the single property Good sound design (mosquitos during Midsummer, I don't miss the real version of that) Possible multiple endings? I got a different ending from what I saw other people get A good type of walking simulator, where it's more exploratory and relaxing, with a decent story in the mix Overall I can easily recommend this game.
Very clever short mystery with lovely visuals and unexpected depth. On second playthrough I was pleasantly surprised by amount of subtle layers the story has. Made me smile. And shiver a bit.
it's really not worth the cost. It's a less than hour game(do not buy it for more than $4. the ending does not make sense sorry can't do A then in the end B happens...it just doesn't make sense...I'd refund it but I somewhat enjoyed it because of the lake and the sunset, and I'm feeling generous
The main character in this game suffers from SEVERE phone addiction and has to take a photo of literally everything to post on social media to recieve a dopamine boost from people liking and responding to the posts. Can't play this game for more than 5 minutes because the sound of the notifications every 3.5 seconds is giving me anxiety. Imagine going to a beautiful lakeside cabin in the heart of Finland during the midsummer solstice, and before you actually set one step inside the cabin where you will be staying you already posted 6 photo's and 11 comments on social media.
Going into it I obviously understood that this is a pretty short game, a simple game. I was excepting a quaint, cute little mystery game that I could maybe relate to a little bit as I am from Norway. That's more or less what I got, the story was fine... up until the ending which was just so stupid and a great way to just kill the entire story and all atmosphere and mood built up until that point. It felt like a horrible M. Night Shyamalan twist. The ending just made me shake my head and made me want to ask the developer "Why? Why did you chose to do that? Such a non-fitting way to end it, that just really doesn't belong in this game. You should've gone the same exact direction that the entire story had been going up until now! Why this!?" I probably would give it a positive review if the ending wasn't that. If the ending was good and kept on with how everything else was I'd probably be more able to look past all the other negative stuff because then it probably would've been an enjoyable game, but for me the ending just killed all atmosphere and mood that had been built up until that point. And the entire social media thing, seeing as I hate social media, didn't clique with me at all. If it was changed away from someone fanatically and maniacally posting pictures on social media to just taking pictures with an older camera or something it would've been much better in my opinion. And out of all places and situations this might be one of the few ones were the majority would probably agree that putting down the phone might be the better option. This is just a pet-peeve of mine, it's not a factor in giving it a negative review: It's also written in that dumb way where every now and then a word is written in the language of where it's set and I guess just expecting everyone to know what it means, or thinking it's cute or something. It's not cute. For me at least it just feels way out of place. And I assume that to most who know what the word means it doesn't feel exotic or mysterious or whatever the reason for doing it is, it just feels weird suddenly seeing a word you use daily in your own language show up deliberately amongst otherwise a 100% English written text. No options menu of any kind, not for sound, not for keybinds, not for video... simply no options menu at all. Inexcusable in my opinion. It doesn't matter how simple or complicated your game is. There is no excuse for not having at the very least a simplified options menu. It doesn't matter for what odd reason someone might have to change keybinds in a game with like 2 buttons to press, maybe they have a disability that makes it so they need to change something, it really doesn't matter. It is incredibly easy to add in a simple options menu. There's also no controller support. Way too short for the price. However, the story is decent with a nice twist. The gameplay was smooth, very intuitive and simple. The art style is beautiful.
This is definitely worth the six dollar price tag. Took me about 90 minutes, but I was lingering and looking at everything, because there's a lot to look at. As the hour gets later, the atmosphere becomes at once more beautiful and creepier. At the end, if all goes well for you, it is laugh-out-loud hilarious. Puzzles are logical (mostly driven by finding various keys). One good jump scare. And a lot of cell-phone interactions with a peanut gallery of friends, grumps, back-seat-drivers, and at least one ******, all of which decide your fate in the game. Be kind and act with sisu and enjoy the ride!
You don't ♥♥♥♥ around with Nøkken. One of the most important folklores to teach children so they don't drown. Possibly as important as the Dodraug (Toilet draugen), mainly to scare children away from sitting on the toilet for hours reading comics. But I digress. Not worth the asking price (maybe 20 mins of playtime?) so get it during a sale. Got a tiny scare by not paying attention, and a nice little chuckle near the end.
Beautiful and atmospheric game! You can really feel the Finnish mid summer and I spent so much time just enjoying the scenery and taking screenshots. The social media aspect gives nice touch to delivering the narrative. I got really into the story and exploring the area. And I even got spooked few times! (You have been warned :D)
Fun way to spend an hour or two! Highly recommended!
