I adore this game. I have played the game since it first came out as a beta I believe? Before there were all 10 chapters in the game and it ended at Chapter 4 and had a completely different HUD. This game is nostalgic and still fun to this day. You may not get to play it with the same level of online activity (in fact I know so) however you can still find people online here and there, plus there are plenty of people in the community that you can reach out to through Steam or Discord who are more than willing and happy to play with people so you can get proper 4man games. Because of the online rarity at this point, it wouldn't be worth it for you to buy unless it's on sale (which has started happening again including all of the DLC) or if you REALLY want to play it and don't mind the price point. The game is now out on Google Play, and you can play the first chapter and all 4 members of team RWBY to give you a feel of the game if you'd like, but the Steam PC version is the most active with the most willing players you can find. Aside from the online side of things, let's talk about the game. The game isn't the most well done, but it was decent enough for the time and holds up well enough today, so don't let the look of it deter you. There are plenty of tutorials and guides to get the most out of the kits the game offers, and there is an entire speedrunning community and guides to do proper speedrunning skips and level skips. There is also plenty of options to out of bounds (though that isn't intentional to the game, but the devs only patched one out and let us keep the rest) and videos and guides on this as well. Plus if you get a Rank 10 to help you out, they probably know where these spots are as well. It's just a fun community and fun game, and has multiple different fields to focus on besides just the game that you might be interested in. Both teams are fun to play and have their own mechanics and skill tree, so there is plenty of character variance to enjoy. They also offer different forms of combat, such as Weiss you can focus on putting as many enemies into ice at once to then finish, or be the shooting mage that ices and kills without fail of you dreams. Stuff like that. It has campaign, horde mode, and grimm gauntlet as game modes. It's just a fun and simple hack n slash game. At the end of the day, it is a fun and enjoyable game, and the closest game to the show you'll get, unlike that silly turret defense mobile game and arrowfell is decent but doesn't give the kind of vibes like RWBYGE does, and I think it fits the concept the best as a player getting to get in on the RWBY action. If this game interests you enough to get it, then I highly recommend it, but I just want to be frank and upfront with some of the details, such as the fact that it isn't a AAA game it's definitely very indie, and the online is mostly dead though you can still get ahold of players. Just be aware of these. I still play regularly and can get players, you just have to be open to ask on the forum or discord. There is also the mods, which you might enjoy as well. The creator no longer works on the mods, but you can still find the downloader on the discussions page and use a lot of the texture mods hat are still around, if that's an interest. There are others who are working on taking up the GVK mantle. Thank you for taking the time to read my review, and I hope you consider getting the game.
Its a nice game but needs a remake or a huge update pleasee. It doesnt stand the test of time very well despite being cool... . I really want a better official game for a series i like that draws more appeal into wielding those complex weapons and skills.
Very repetitive and buggy unfortunately. Some of the game play is fun enough but theres very little story or sense of progression. Might be more fun in Multiplayer but I ended up playing mostly alone and that gets boring quick.
I love playing this game with my friends!
it's RWBY what more reason do you need?
hehehe rwby game hehee
If you get the game on sale (and maybe with a friend or three, the game's multiplayer scene is mostly dead) it's really enjoyable. The grind for 100% is a bit tedious, but the gameplay is fun and there's stuff to learn. If it had more to do I would rate it a lot higher, but I can sort of see why there wasn't (lore-wise, although they could just say "♥♥♥♥ the lore" and add more stuff to do). Gameplay-wise (like being in missions) it's a 9/10, I think hack and slash games are a lot of fun, but I think that's mostly the best part about it. On average it's about a 6 or a 7/10, it's fine, but lacks replayability.
