About
Love retro, lightweight football sims?
Want something nostalgic yet portable?
Prefer fun and speed over depth and detail?
If you’re after a fast, nostalgic, football management fix with bite-sized tension and strategy — then this is the football management sim for you!
Classic simplicity with subtle depth: Manage your club across four divisions, with promotion, relegation, domestic cups, and European cup competitions. There's a transfer market, tactics to set, player fitness-wise decisions, and club finances to balance — all designed to be quick to learn but hard to put down.
Match highlights: Stylised, text and graphic match highlights reminiscent of the original 8-bit title. It’s charming, easy to follow, and still engaging.
Customisation & roster controls: Rename teams, edit kits, or retitle players. Player ratings consist of skill, fitness, and age. Aged out players retire or decline, while younger talent can improve season by season.
Strategic decisions: Purchase loans to fund signings, manage morale boosts (twice per season to lift spirit), bid on players with risk/reward valuation, and navigate transfer valuations that fluctuate with division status.
Remade and re-released for 2025, the godfather of football management games is back with Kevin Toms Football Star Manager. This faithful recreation of Kevin Toms' groundbreaking Football Manager (1982) breathes new life into the retro classic with modernised improvements to recapture the footy magic of the 80s.

It's great! It is certainly a simple title by today's standards, but it does what you're expecting and is pretty engaging. Very happy with the title and can see how it grew into what we have these days.
Kevin Toms Football Star Manager
As a fan of Premier manager 98 on the Playstation 1 this game is perfect for throwing on and just enjoying some low concentration gaming. Not having to spend hours setting formations or scouting players or worry about how much your half time pies cost is such a nice change from the hyper-realistic management games on the market that cost 20x what this did. I'll be playing this long after I unlock all the recently activated achievements
I’ve now played a few seasons now and there’s definitely a good, simple football management game here. It captures the spirit of the original really well, but there are areas that could be improved without losing that simplicity. Results feel fairer the deeper you go I've found, but I think the game would benefit from a fixture preview. Right now, you don’t know who you’re playing next until the match starts, which makes it difficult to rest players or prepare for big games against top teams or in the cup. Even a basic fixture list would add some forward planning and strategy without complicating the game. The match highlights could also use a little more variety like more passes, corners, free kicks, pens, keeper diving, hitting the post would make them feel less repetitive and more exciting. I'm not a fan of the goal frame, it seems a strage size to me, But overall its a solid and enjoyable throwback that just needs a few small tweaks to feel complete for me.
I just smashed Scunthorpe United 6-0. We're gonna win the league.
KRÓTKA PIŁKA: Ależ piękny powrót do przeszłości! To pierwszy futbolowy menadżer z 1982 roku. Ależ się wtedy grało... I wiecie co? To wciąż działa! Great!
great game i had this game over 30 yrs ago
for those of a certain age this is the classic original that we played over and over again, rekindling your youth
Great nostalgia hit from the 1980s for an owner of the original ZX Spectrum version. Probably too basic for today's players, but the simplicity means quick games and it's surprisingly addictive nonetheless. Also the most egregious failing of the original (player skill resets at the end of season so Kevin Keegan 5* becomes 1*) has been fixed to +/- 1/0 skill level. Give it a try!
