Look , I wasn't going to buy this game however you need history. I bought the original game back in October 1982 (yes I'm that old) because I knew I was getting a Spectrum 48k for Christmas. I lost Christmas day that year trying to load the game from tape (oh the joy the joy) For those memories and many more Ive dropped £5 in your wallet Mr Toms and thank you for all you have done

Such a good game, and steam deck compatible (handheld) Just entered my third season with Dulwich Hamlet, promoted in the second season. I’ve got a long way to go yet until the European trophy comes home, but it’s so addictive and easy to play. Highly recommend for any football manager lover

A real nostalgia trip for me as a played this game on my old spectrum for hours. This updated version runs a treat on modern systems and is still as much fun as ever. There have been graphical to tweaks to the highlights as well as the text only and even the original stick men classic visual highlights. The game is simple, No PHD in spreadsheet manipulation and jiggery pokery that the latest soccer management games have. Its quick simple and passes a few easy hours. Buying and selling is a breeze, borrowing money and repayment too. the price is keen and i'm sure if you gave it a whirl you would find it a simple filler for the times you haven't much time to play. Reverting to a league status pre premier league, so the old 4 divisions. 1 domestic cup competition and the European cup. I love it cheers Kevin!

The fact that I can buy a new Kevin Toms football manager in 2025 is mind-blowing. The only difference between 1982 and now? Some new grey hairs on his promo image. Perfect.

After about 10-15 minutes I was close to refunding the game. For nostalgia's sake I thought I'd give it "1 more game"... ... ... A couple of hours later I realised I'd been enjoying the game-play loop of picking the best available team, suffering as the match scores role in with no opportunity to make changes mid game, waiting for the right player to pop up to sign (only 1 player available to bid for each game week), and removing the dross from the squad. I've enjoyed returning to the grand-daddy of the genre for a few hours and it was well worth the price of a coffee!

No offside, no corners, no substitutions, no tactics, It's exactly how you remember the original. The original players are still there with some of the more recent players added, and an additional European cup, if you're lucky enough to win Division 1 or The cup. The graphics have been updated but you have the option to switch back to the original look and keep it proper old skool. And you have the option for "99 to continue" I'm addicted

If your a fan of Football Manager and no I dont mean the flashy spreadsheet version you probably seen over the last few years but the 1982 version (created by Kevin Toms) then you will love this ......but dont expect much when you are playing this. Its VERY basic and the season will go quickly before you know it. You first choose your side from a database of team names (but you can change this later), you pick 11 players (using the old 1982 database of classic England players names) with a few more recent ones added (again you can alter players names), then type in your manager name and the game starts. The game has only a few screens and you then choose your best 11, each player only has two stats its main rating (up to five) and fitness rating (up to 20) then sit back and watch the old school match highlights....again this is old school so newer players will wonder whats going on here. The highlights are basically goal mouth action for either side and trying to score in an very odd 3-dish wire frame goal. You can buy/ sell players, obtain a bank loan and moral boost your players if needed and thats about it...no training...no coaching...again this is old school. As I use to play the original Football Manager it felt like going back in time and playing this again and it was fun for a short time anyway. The game came out a few years ago on mobile and it showed but will it attract the modern day player I dont know. At least the price is pretty cheap though as it should be. I would recommend it but for those who want to go back to the days when games were like this...for those who like the modern day FM series then you be in for a shock. You do have sound...not much but a bit when the game happens Warning the game does crash sometimes though and when you click for 'No Sound' and then want sound again...it dosent comeback.

Very basic and very addictive. The game that got me into football management sims when I was a kid. I have been singing it's praises to any and everyone of the same era as me. Easily the best £5 I have ever spent on Steam!

It's great! It is certainly a simple title by today's standards, but it does what you're expecting and is pretty engaging. Very happy with the title and can see how it grew into what we have these days.
