Karma City Police

The game might be cheap but it was still a letdown.

There's an element of comedy and satire in the incompetency of the Karma City Police Department, but it's hidden beneath the bugs, glitches, and inconsistency of the story. It was a little too short for me to enjoy in any meaningful way, and it's all over the place. I was expecting more call shifts and pinball fights, but the game was sorely lacking in..well, everything. Would not recommend.

Karma City Police é um jogo completamente fora da curva, uma verdadeira insanidade no melhor e no pior sentido da palavra. O roteiro é ácido e escrachado, no nível das comédias mais sádicas, usando a violência e o exagero como ferramenta constante de crítica social. Não existe sutileza aqui, e o jogo claramente abraça o absurdo. A mecânica de combate baseada em pinball é uma ideia criativa e ajuda a dar identidade à experiência, funcionando bem dentro da proposta, mesmo não sendo algo muito profundo. No fim das contas, é um jogo simples, que se sustenta mais pelo texto, pelas situações extremas e pelo impacto do que pela complexidade da gameplay. Em alguns momentos, essa simplicidade acaba gerando frustração e até indignação, mas isso também faz parte da experiência. É curto, agressivo e provocativo.

Don't you dare pay $15, but as an unfinished game it's totally worth $1 if you get it bundled somewhere. Love this game. Wish it was finished. Needs more gameplay... it really wouldn't be hard to add more, but if it wants to be a pinball game it really needs to fix the physics (the ball really loves to head to the left side of the screen.... and to occasionally teleport beneath the paddles). But I legit love the emergency calling segments; they keep me guessing in a good way. Unfortunately I doubt I'm ever going to see the true ending because the final fight depends majorly on chance and I accidentally selected "no" when it asked me to try again and my last save file was a long time ago and there isn't any reminders to tell me what my current objective is. I really don't want to explore the whole police station again. Also, I keep accidentally skipping dialogue and selecting options I don't intend because there isn't dedicated buttons for the two actions... Press once to display the full text, then again to progress... 99% of rpgmaker games get this right, why not this one? So... a lot of big negatives... but it really could be something special if they updated it to be... a game... rather than a difficult to read story.

Some developers spend too much time with unnecessary dialogues and chores before showing the game itself. This one is a very good example. Also, its not the 90's anymore. Dialogues and pop-ups should be skippable or have faster animations. I lost interest even before finishing the tutorial.

I put in about an hour, got about 34% completed, stopped for the night, booted it up the next day and loaded my save file, and for some reason my 'current mission' went back to the first mission. Felt like I wasted my time playing this.

Jogo curto, mas com uma narrativa impressionante e cheio de reviravoltas. Que ótimo trabalho. Valeu cada centavo, e melhor ainda, desenvolvido por brasileiros. Sinal que nossa indústria de jogos pode sim chegar em alto patamar. Parabens aos devs.
