GOTY
Hi, this game is fire
I'm making my way through my unplayed games chronologically. I only briefly played this one over ten years ago. I'm actually really surprised I'm not recommending this one so soon, but a lot of things were hitting me that I'll explain. This is definitely a game in the tail-end of the piss era/xbox 360 games, it has a huge appeal as an over the top action game letting you grapple every where and jump on cars and shoot lots of guns. It sort of feels like a lot of open world games from the era; it takes Grand Theft Auto IV and adds more to it with interesting mechanics. GTAIV was so popular most games of the era wanted some kind open-world design with something to appeal to gamers at the time. The issue for me is it just feels kinda janky, there's been much better action games since, it's sort of frustrating to get used to now. You don't feel cool, you kind of feel funky trying to learn it and it does feel more dated now rather than impressive. But worst of all, the story. The story was nothing to write home about at the time, but in the year 2026 it's straight up eerie. Playing an open world action game where you're an American CIA agent freely blowing up a fraught foreign country (you can kill civilians too with no consequences really), and intentionally, even specifically, destabilizing the entire region for all for America's eventual benefit makes you feel gross. Thankfully Americans today are becoming more aware of our history and how things like this are... well exactly what we've done (and are still doing) for decades. And participating in this as what is supposed to be b-movie action schlock might not make everyone feel weird, but for some like me it just becomes a deal breaker. And I want to say too, it's not international spy fun like the movie Red or something where it's sort of aware of itself, maybe it acknowledges the ethical issues of being an agent. This game seems to find no issues with you as a government agent just blowing up Panau because they dared to have another dictator take over, which gives you free reign to sow death and destruction upon all it's residence. Even if it changes its tone down the line like a twist that your mission is corrupted, through the gameplay you're still encouraged to wreak havoc and get paid doing it. If you can look past all that and enjoy the action schlock for what it is, and want to experience a well made open-world action game from the early 2010s then I say go for it. But I think most people without that lens of nostalgia will feel weird, and there's much better games from this era that are more thoughtful as well like Prototype, Saints Row (the satire in Saints Row IV is immaculate and much more fun to play), and Infamous.
A Serie Just Cause é bom demais.
Just Cause 2 is an absolute dumpster fire of a game. It doesn’t save settings properly, it crashes constantly, the camera shakes like it was programmed by someone having a seizure, and the controls are a complete disaster. You can’t even change the difficulty without starting a new game, which is some next-level idiotic design. And the second-highest difficulty? Pure sadistic garbage. You get one-shot, quest NPCs get one-shot, everything dies instantly, and the game acts like this is somehow “challenge” instead of broken trash. Vehicle controls override other controls, other controls mess with vehicle controls, and the whole input system feels like it was built by drunk monkeys smashing keyboards. This game is a miserable broken pile of crap that deserves to be buried and forgotten.
I mean it's a really good game its just sometimes the game will freeze and kick you out usually during missions, and it doesnt save anything you did. So its a 50/50 rating
I love this game, its amazing, its like if you took every action movie ever and put them together into one game, in my opinion, one of the best games of its time
