This might be a very short visual novel but I found it extremely interesting and there are two more games in the series to play - which I have, so I'll be reading them pronto. You play as a young man with special abilities. This is a murder mystery and you have to question people, examine rooms, etc. You actually only use your unique power at the very beginning of the story and then, for certain reasons, you'll have to investigate like a normal person. If you gather enough clues and figure out the culprit, one mystery will be solved but the game ends on a cliff hangar so you'll definitely want to buy all three games in a bundle. You never find out your character's name, why he ended up at a murder scene, or why he has powers. And I wanna know! So onto story two. One of the things I loved about this particular visual novel is the voice acting done in ENGLISH. YAY! Voice acting in VNs always seem to be in other languages so I turn it off so as not to be distracted. But not this time. And the voice acting isn't half bad either. I really enjoyed listening. Speaking of listening, the music is nice. Haunting and lovely. So.... if you like reading and enjoy a good murder mystery, I recommend checking this game out - along with the two sequels. It's a shame it's not longer but I'm most happy with this purchase.

A short (~1 hour), simple murder mystery visual novel. Nice art, and probably the earliest VN with good English voice acting, so that's cool. Unfortunately, it feels more like a proof of concept than a fully developed game in its own right. The cast and setting are very small, the investigation is straightforward, and the most interesting aspects are relegated to a sequel hook. JISEI was one of the first visual novels I ever played, and it has remained as one of the most interesting ones for me that I keep going back to. Although the first entry to the series is relatively short - more like a prologue to a much bigger story - it still has a lot of intrigue to entice you into sticking around to see what unfolds in future games. You play as an unnamed male main character who is in the wrong place at the wrong time, and immediately thrown under suspicion in a murder investigation at a cafe. A local off duty detective giving you permission to ask some (mostly) harmless questions to help piece together what happened may seem unrealistic to some in this game, but rest assured, future installments explain why this detective in particular was so willing to trust a teenager unwilling to give up his real name. Although the mystery in this visual novel is technically revolving around a murder, the [i]real[/i] mystery is who you're playing, why he has this ability, and who the mysterious voice is that appears in his head and how they know what's happening inside the locked down cafe. Unfortunately, you'll only get some of the answers by the end, because some questions are linked to a much bigger picture that unfolds throughout the series. Each game gives you another piece of the puzzle, but it's never frustrating because each revelation feels like something huge and exciting. Because of this, I'd really recommend purchasing all three games that are currently released so you can immediately move on to the next game when you finish this one. It's also extremely important to replay the game to get all of the endings, because this will unlock each of the games' epilogues which are part of the true ending. Playing all three games also gives you a better idea of the developing relationship between each of these characters, as the series really gives you a "found family" kind of vibe, as the murder investigation in this game brings together a team of misfits that will work together on solving future mysteries that are in some way related to their mysterious pasts. As for JISEI itself, the game on its own is definitely worth buying to check out. The game gives you a bit of nonlinear freedom, as you can choose who you want to talk to and when, as well as getting to choose to examine the room that you're in to learn more about what's going on. This was a huge selling point for me when I first played, because it reminded me a bit of the point-and-click mystery games I played as a kid. In this game, clicking examine will just give you a narration of what your MC observes for you, but in future installments this feature is upgraded to the player having to click around on various items in the room before you can learn more about them. You may also recognize the art style as being the same as the Flower Shop series (Summer in Fairbrook, Winter in Fairbrook) as well as C14 Dating and the free visual novel Autumn's Journey. Deji's art is particularly lovely in this game, though, with Li Mei and Gurski's designs remaining my favourite. You may also recognize the voice of Li Mei, who is voiced by Cherami Leigh. This was one of the first things I noticed, because I recognized her as the same person who did the voice of Mai in the Ghost Hunt anime dub, which is another series I have a soft spot for. All of the voicing in this game is fantastic though, and really brings the characters to life with the added depth and emotion. If you're the type to turn off the voice acting, I don't think that'll be an issue here - but if for some reason one of the characters has a voice you just don't want to listen to, you can turn it off for them individually and still enjoy listening to the rest. All in all, I couldn't recommend this game enough, and I was very excited to see it had finally gotten released on STEAM. I've played and replayed this game several times, and I always enjoy it as much as the first time (though it helps if you wait a few months and forget some of the big reveals like I did). The team is also working on the fourth installment, and with each game improving on the last, I personally can't wait to see what else is in store. [b]Seriously, [i]BUY THIS GAME.[/i][/b]

Auf dem Weg zur Toilette sehen wir das die Tür zur Damen Toilette offen ist und dort eine Leiche liegt. Wir berühren diese um die letzten Erinnerungen zu Erfahren, werden dabei aber erwischt und sind nun der Haupt Verdächtige in diesem Mordfall. Nun liegt es an uns unsere Unschuld zu beweisen und den wahren Mörder zu finden [h1] Gameplay [/h1] Das Spiel ist sehr kurz gehalten und auch sehr simpel. Wir lesen uns durch die Geschichte und haben immer die Möglichkeit von Raum zu Raum zu gehen (es gibt nur 3) um diese zu Untersuchen oder um mit anderen Leuten zu sprechen. Wobei man eh alles immer machen muss und die Reihenfolge an sich ist egal weil es nur dann weiter geht mit der Story, wenn man alle Fragen gestellt hat. Es gibt insgesamt 2 Endings (Bad & True). Das Voice Acting ist überraschend gut gelungen für so ein kleines Projekt [h1] Achievement Schwierigkeit 2/10 [/h1] Es gibt insgesamt nur 2 Erfolge. Hierfür muss man beide Endings gesehen haben. Jisei is the first out of three Games in Sake Visuals Murder Mystery series is a very enjoyable, quick Visual Novel experience and one of the earlier ones at that...together with the original Katawa Shoujo and Narcissu one of my first ever VNs! Its still a joy to replay in 2026 for various reasons such as: -nice art, even if later ones do better there, but i can pardon that given how old this one is. -a consistent plot -likeable characters - good music 10/10 for me...

Jisei is the first installment in 3 games long series. It’s an interesting murdery mystery Visual Novel with great backgrounds and characters designs. What’s also nice is the fact the characters are voiced and have interesting personalities. Given the series is divided into 3 installments, this one is short, but still worth the price. Characters in the game have various special abilities, which you learn about with progress of the story. As the main character you get to question people, examine rooms and so on. In a way you become an investigator. So the goal is to find clues and solve the mystery. And it’s enjoyable while doing so. I’d say anyone that enjoys murder mysteries should pick up this game (and other 2 from the series). It might be short, but it’s definitely worth it. I also played Jisei before it was released on Steam. Played it back when it first came out and ended up playing the entire series many time! This is the series that made me love visual novels so much that I currently own several copies of games in this genre, since sakevisual is so out to the fans it was easy to find back in the day and still today they hold the fans dear. Since this is the first game it's not as long as the rest but it plays well up without feeling too short or too long, it introduces characters in a way that makes sense and I remember cleary being so hyped for the next game <3 If you wish to try this genre out but not sure where to start without spending crazy amount on japanese translated ones I'll definetly recommend this series and sakevisuals other games!

I love this game so much. I played it for the first time years ago, and even on my third playthrough, I'm struck by how much I love the characters. The game is fully voice acted and honestly overall great!! I love this game series. Really excited for the fourth game.
