34 hours (+/- depending on what difficulty level you choose--I played on the easiest) This is not your Momma's Match 3, nor your Grandma's Match 3 game. Jewel Match games are next level Match 3. With multiple screens (I call them rooms) per level that you go back and forth like a metroidvania. Instead of the typical Match 3 game where each level is just one screen and you have to clear that screen, the Jewel Match games have usually 3 screens, sometimes more, sometimes only 2, per level. There are keys that unlock things from zappers to half a screen's worth of space. So, for example, you start on screen one and can only clear half of it. There's an arrow button pointing left, right, up, down, that leads to screen two where the key to unlock the rest of screen one is at the top and you have to make matches so that the key falls down to the bottom. Then you can go back to room one and finish off the other side. There's lots of things that will help or hinder you. Zappers (my word for it) that, when you make a match against it will clear all the icons of that specific one that was matched within a certain area of the screen. Automatic moving belts (you will come to hate these) where you go round in a circle as matches are made and if a key in on the belt you have to look for a match that you can make to swap the key out of the belt. I'm not sure what to call these things but when you make a match against them they charge some of the icons underneath with destructive power. Those are usually used to clear boulders from your way. Then there are chains on icons that can only be cleared by making a match with the chained icon. And more that I can't think of off hand. There are two bonus matching games: Puzzle and Pearl. The Puzzle ones give you stars that you need to unlock things in the scene and Pearl games give you pearls that you use to unlock mini-games like Find the Difference and puzzle pieces that when placed unlock a scene. In addition to all that there are scenes that you build piece by piece. Each level will give you the items needed to unlock the pieces. There is the big main scene of huge mansions and then there are four inner room scenes to unlock also. IF you are tired of the "same old-same old" of Match 3 games then try one of the Jewel Match games and get ready to turn your brain on while you play.
I've set myself to the task of playing a number of Christmas themed games this year, and as a result, encountered more than a few 'match three' types. There's certainly a deluge of them out there of varying content and quality. Yet, even after a brief time with this one, I can already say that it obliterates most others. I can't imagine what you could add to this game to make it better. The iconography is pleasing, appropriate, seldom static, and can even be changed in the options. The music is soothing piano versions of traditional favorites, which again can be altered in the options. Every possible power up and ability is present, along with a few I haven't seen before. Playing earns rewards that can be spent on upgrades and unlockables. There are other types of games, scenes, and environments to enjoy here as well. Plenty of activities outside of the match three genre. There's a completely unexpected trove of quality content here, even in the game altering options available to the player. I would say, even if you aren't a fan of such puzzle games, but are feeling the spirit, and up to try something new, this might just make you one. In short, this is a wonderful gift to give, or receive this Christmas.

I finished every level and every decoration on the first map. I made it to around level 20 on the bonus map, finished the main decoration and was working on the rooms. The next time I started the game, everything was gone!!! I lost all my purchased items! Every room I decorated on the first map is empty again and I have to start all over! The main background on the first level is incomplete now!! The bonus levels are not available anymore! I'm back to level 28 on the first map! Aaaaaaaaaaagh!!! I played a combined total of 26 hours just to start over again! It's too late to ask for a refund, but I'm uninstalling it!!!!!
The most beautiful Jewel Match game yet! I have a 4k monitor, so everything is sharp and crystal clear. The animations are top notch, and the music is just right. It has all of the powerups and features that the last game had. This is not a bad thing. I always buy Jewel Match games on release. I have no regrets that this game was #1 on my wishlist...
It's what you'd expect from the Jewel Match franchise: beautiful graphics, soothing music, charming scenes to construct, and great "traditional" M3 playing style along with extremely long playing time in order to finish everything. Plenty of customization options - don't just look in the game options area, but check the CE extras for different custom cursors and even different tile sets to play with. I like the default playing tiles, but find that the updated tile set from the first Winter Wonderland game to be easier for me to see. You can also edit the game soundtrack to not play certain tracks if you don't enjoy some of the music. If you play in relaxed only all the time you won't notice, but a word of caution to those who like a challenge: While there is a new feature to disable the magic arrows for larger matches and the advanced and insane difficulty modes are back, I will attest that the game is pretty much impossible to play without some extra help of some kind. Normally I'm a true hardcore player when it comes to M3s and play on the maximum difficulty with no extra powerups and it's a personal challenge to complete the game with all the achievements this way. I can't do it in this game...it was taking me as many as 30 attempts in the first 20 levels alone just to finish the level before I finally caved in and bought a few powerups! Sorry devs, this kind of ruined the game for me because I've been able to complete all the Jewel Match games prior in my typical play style with all the Steam achievements even, which was an enjoyable challenge. "Insane" shouldn't mean "impossible"! I would have given the game a "neutral" rating if Steam had that option.
Unlike the other match 3 games by this developer this one is very buggy, it crashes frequently, squares occasionally are populated by multiple icons. Options on the map become available out of sequence. Scene 1 completely decorated room was marked 81%, It needs more work. Completed scene 1 and enjoyed it between crashes. I've played all of the other games by this publisher and they are fun to play and seem to be working just fine.
Okay, so this is the second game... But there is no first... Which means I can't make a comparison between the two. Very well. Jewel Match Winter Wonderland 2 has far more stuff to be upgraded than Jewel Match Twilight 1-3! That's better. It even has a scenic town (two actually) you can upgrade and the image scrolls! All of this instead of the usual 5 empty spots you build upon. Stuff matches the theme. I still freaking hate those godbeeping snails!!! And ah... There are 200 levels... With lots of powers ups to acquire. Overall: You know what these games are for and why we buy and play 'em... So that's all you get. But hmm... Here is a little thing...: Is there any way you can create a "Void" power up... That sucks ALL the GOLDEN SNAILS into it? Like from every single level and ALL the games you have in existence? No? Oh well. Guess I gotta bash them with a hammer as usual... Or blow 'em up. >........> Still like your games! Keep up the good work!!! :D :>
Cute game. Enjoy the Jewel match and the scenes. Recommend for casual gaming.
