Six Sides of the World is simple in design yet complexly brilliant as the stakes always change in small ways. The game introduces a surprisingly large variation of challenges that never become too complex to frustrate, nor do they ever get dull or stale. As you progress, new features are added, modified, and the scale grows, multiplying the amount of planets to explore while the style and shape of these tiny worlds also change. The game certainly keeps things fresh for a long duration and does a good job at bringing in new elements to further the challenge. The only thing to note is that the game can be a slight pain when levels become bigger. Yet there are factors to help with this, such as color coordinated portals, and being able to freely rotate the screen around the planet you’re on helps to reduce confusion. The game can be a rather enjoyable experience whether you’re playing for few minutes or over an hour or two.
An abstract art Puzzler with poetic narrative, Six Sides of the World uses a planetary theme to create a linear flow of gameplay in an abstract world.
For those who enjoy a mind-numbing grueling challenge, the Devs at Cybernetik Design have created a Rubik’s Cube type of Spatial Logic challenge. Game Mechanics: The first star system is a lighter challenge to help you “figure out” what in this world (or maybe out of this world) you are doing. You begin with a heavy sense of cognitive dissonance, because there are only buttons, triggers, timers, and switches… along with lasers and other hazards, on a cube floating in space. You are in a little fish ship, and at first you just explore your surroundings. Randomly standing on different switches transports you to one other of the 6 sides of this floating cube. Soon, you start to draw conclusions about how things work. Before you know it, you’ve completed all the planets in this first star system, and are on to the next system. There is no scoring system. You win by simply completing all the planets, some in more than one way. The achievements fall rapidly. I achieved the first 6 in an hour and a half. But, the difficulty ramps up quickly, after that. This will not be a game you will finish quickly, so you will definitely get your money’s worth on time in game. The game is played with simple clicks of the mouse to move around the cube. You can rotate the cube with a click and drag of either mouse button. The electronic gadgets, doors, and switches remind me of Stealth, Inc, where you use mechanics to complete levels in a similar fashion. Narrative and Graphics: With an abstract poetry and art, between levels you capture bits and pieces of the story of the mysterious Maigo the Puzzle Lord’s journey; the creator of these cubic planets. The story is intriguing, but exists mainly as a backdrop to the challenging puzzles. With the space theme and electronic music, the game can be compared to Energy Balance, another sadistic puzzler with abstract poetry set in space. But, where Energy Balance will fry your brains with spatial equations, Six Sides of the World will have you as confused as a session of yoga, where you’ve made so many twists and turns that when the master calls for you to bring your left foot forward over your right shoulder to touch your nose, you have to pause to think, “Now, where did I last have my left foot?” I don’t have a lot of time in game yet, but it’s been taken in several short sessions because of the heavy challenge. So, because I’m sure there are those out there who may be able to whizz past me, I thought I’d go ahead and give you a heads up to this incredible puzzler. But, beware… it is not for the timid. Pros: *Calming and analytical *No reading required/ poetry is parallel to the puzzle worlds *Graphics are eye pleasing and poetry is lovely *Bracing challenge, no hand-holding Cons: *No drawbacks that I can see/ but it is a tough game
Six Sides of the World will have you zipping around a cubic galaxy to the tune of electronic beats and poetry. If you enjoyed mechanical games like Stealth, Inc or Vessel, then this puzzler is for you.
Very nice Puzzle Game, except for Tau ceti (Because that solar system i just like a tutorial of course) the game is a real Mind Blowing, as soon as you open the second solar system the puzzles become hard and as long as you keep going they become even harder and that for me is the BEST. Gonna try complete all 50 level and post on youtube, I hope you like it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EX63HPPghw&index=1&list=PL6aJwtvTFqdXWSCvuH5U62hLZoNrkPX9y
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live life on a planet that was in the shape of a cube rather than the Earth’s globe? Well you’re not quite going to get that with Cybernetik Design’s debut Steam title, Six Sides of the World, but what you will get is a rock solid adventure-puzzle game that fits those dimensions. Cybernetik Design is yet another one man studio with that developer being Emilio José L. Joyera, from Barcelona, Spain. Joyera also works for Abylight another indie game studio who have made games for Nintendo consoles and hand held consoles, Java and iOS. Josara has previously designed games for The Games Kitchen. However, he also has passion for other projects and thus Cybernetik Design was born as an avenue for him to create his own games. I believe that in Six Sides of the World that Joyera has gotten a lot right on debut. I truly appreciate that he took advantage of the Steam Achievement and Steam Trading Card features. It demonstrates that he is aware of some of the more extrinsic things that Steam users like to have in their games. But having those things is never enough. It’s what is under the hood that counts most. By that we’re talking game concept, playability, presentation, etc. In this case I believe that there is much to like here. The concept of the game is that you must guide Maigo throughout each level to gain the key (or what I would consider to be keys) while traversing colored portals that will transport you around the cube and enemies who will attempt to gun you down. When traversing throughout the game with the portals you will have to keep in mind that many of them are positioned in order to stump you. Will you pick the right path or will you allow the cheeky design of the transformers keep you running in circles or worse, lead you to your demise? The gameplay mechanics have been very well designed. It starts off easy enough as you learn the basics but before you know it you will be riddled, stumped and mystified. For those who succeed achievements can come quickly and feel rewarding and levels can be over quickly. However, for those who struggle between levels you’ll find yourselves spending upwards of several minutes on the levels you find challenging. The graphics more than suffice as they are everything you would need to immerse yourself into the game without being irritating. It’s not award winning but then again they absolutely don’t have to be. The sound is cute and charming but has a tendency of becoming repetitive. The overall presentation has been well executed. There isn’t much to criticize here. Six Sides of the World is a well executed and clever little puzzle game that is an absolutely delightful way of spending several hours. If you’re a puzzle fan then this is a recently released game that you should be purchasing. For similar reviews and our popular daily giveaways please visit http://www.steamified.com/
I found so much of this frustrating: more time in load screens than playing; having to redo an entire level after bumbling into death; the story text (also padding the time between levels/loading) not feeling like it's part of the same game you're playing. It just didn't fit me at all.
This game spends more time loading that you spend playing it. Every single transition leaves you with a 10-15 seconds black screen, or a 10-15 second frozen loading screen. I have a GTX1080 i7 7700k 32gb DDR4 @3200mz My hardware is not the issue. The game is the issue.
