Reviews
To start, I cannot, in good faith, recommend this game to anybody. The game feels painfully unfinished, and feels like it never quite left early access. There is an extreme lack of any real depth to the game. If you bring your uncle as a companion, there is a short, somewhat disconnected story that never reached it's conclusion. The developers will never fix the gaps in the world they seemed that they'd fill. Even so, I have played Jalopy at the time of this review for 64.7 hours. I have "beat" the game many times over. At a bare minimum, I start a new playthrough and max out my car with my favorite engine parts, decals, and paint once a year. The driving is bad—worse than you might think for a car like this. Driving up hills can slow you to the point of nearly stopping, acceleration feels as though you are moving through molasses, smd the car just tends to move terribly slow in all ways. Worst of all, if you aren't careful and flip the car, there's nothing you can do. You simply have to restart back to the last time you slept, which likely will be a very long way. What matters is that beneath all that, and inside of it as well, there's a strange quality to the game. The world is largely ugly and boring, the driving both somehow too responsive and not responsive enough, but the car feels emotionally, if not realistically how things are. This may not be how this car would really handle and move, but the game captures the feelings of it perfectly. The sunrise, in all its ten seconds of glory, is somehow one of the most beautiful sunrises I've ever seen in a game. It's not particularly well made, easy to miss, and you only get an actually good view of it once in the game. That's Jalopy. A game I have a hard time recommending, but I can't stop playing. Again, and again. Because there's some undefinable characteristic about it I cannot refuse, and maybe, just maybe, you'll find that too.

Das Spiel macht spaß so für zwischendurch, und es wirkt beruhigend.
