About

While Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison earned her codename defusing bombs for the Global Defense Force, when evil transhumanist mastermind Dr. Jadus Heskel unleashes the members of his cybernetic cult onto the streets of Neo D.C., she knows it's time to start causing explosions instead of preventing them.
Her quest to slay Heskel leaves a trail of carnage throughout huge, multi-path levels filled with gigantic explosions, more secret areas than we can count, and inhuman foes behind every corner. There's no regenerating health here; stop taking cover and start running and gunning.
Shelly's crusade to take down Heskel's army will see her leave destruction in her wake with a wide arsenal of weapons, complete with alternate fire modes and different ammo types. Her signature revolver, the tri-barreled Loverboy, brings enemies pain and players pleasure with both single shots and Old West-style hammer fanning action. Who needs a regular shotgun when you can load buckshot into your grenade launcher? Violent, over-the-top Bowling Bombs rip enemies apart with ease.
Ion Fury laughs at the idea of mandatory checkpoints and straight paths through shooting galleries. But, just because this is a true old-school first-person shooter doesn't mean we've ignored all the good new stuff the last two decades have brought. Headshots? Hell yeah. More physics and interactivity? You betcha. Widescreen, controller support, and auto saves? 3D Realms and Voidpoint have taken the best of both worlds and cooked it all into a bloody stew.

**Ion Fury – A Triumphant Return to Classic FPS Glory** Ion Fury is a thrilling homage to the retro first-person shooters of the 90s, successfully capturing the essence of what made those games so beloved while introducing modern elements that enhance the experience. Developed by Voidpoint, this game stands out as a refreshing throwback that not only appeals to nostalgic players but also engages a new generation of gamers. One of the most striking aspects of Ion Fury is its art style. The game employs a beautifully crafted retro aesthetic, utilizing a 2.5D engine that harkens back to classics like Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior. The combination of linear and open-ended areas ensures that players can approach challenges in various ways, adding to the game's replayability. Ion Fury also excels in its nostalgic references and humor. The game is packed with clever nods to classic FPS tropes, making it a treat for fans of the genre. The witty dialogue and over-the-top scenarios evoke the spirit of the games that inspired it, creating a delightful sense of familiarity while maintaining its own identity. For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 22 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,513 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I love the Build Engine. There's a certain charm to Duke3D and Blood, so having a brand new game built on an upgraded version of that engine is something I was bound to be very happy about. This game is fun, and I aim to return to play the AfterShock DLC at some point.
every single thing about this game is absolute perfection

This is like Half Life + Doom, it's amazing Ion Fury should be overwhelmingly positive review
First 3 Zones are 10/10, great level designs, environments and bossfights. Later it still has ok level design, but gets extremely repetitive and monotonous. The game could use more enemy and environment variety. There are stand outs, like the "Heskel's House of Horrors" level which brought back the feeling of early levels by its unique setting and design, but its just not enough. The last two levels (single last Zone) soured my whole experience, both throwing previous bosses at the player and spawning enemies in a lazy, senseless manner.
genuinely one of the greatest FPS games out there. Period. More than just an homage to the classics, full of personality, amazing gameplay, sound design, voice work, everything- and full of surprises, I dont even understand how they managed some of this stuff in the build engine. shelley is the baddest mf. wish they were able to keep the old name! scr*w iron maiden's suits lmao
It's like they made an expansion to Duke Nukem 3D and threw in Bombshell and made her very angry at everything (she was actually suppose to be in Duke Forever before they ruined it and now she was reused as the protagonist in her own game) and then just laced the entire game with crack... and then made all kinds of weird interesting weapons and laced THOSE with crack!
Ion Fury is a fantastic shooter that really delivers on its goals. Pros: -Great gunplay, weapons are punchy and every one stays useful 'til the end (except the stupid stun baton) -fantastic visuals -impressive amount of environment interaction and detail. really can't stress enough how much of a difference this makes in a shooter. This is the first time I've ever gotten zapped by touching a wall outlet in a game. -really cool voxel-based models for guns/health/interactables/etc. -plays like a dream on gamepad, bullet magnetism is nice -perfect length, 10 or 12 hours. -great sense of humor -soundtrack is good -exploration is a blast, hidden/secret areas are top notch! -perfectly nails the late 90s PC FPS vibe, channels that classic shooter feel Cons: -levels are VERY long and can be taxing to navigate. Lots of time spent on "where is the door/key/where do i go, wait i'm all the way back at the start of the level" -based on my experience, CLOUD SAVES DO NOT FUNCTION although this feature is listed on the steam page. saves did not transfer to another PC or to my steam deck. -SFX (particular enemy noises) are extremely repetitive and uninspired, a real shame -some poorly communicated mechanics or controls. This would've been a non-issue with the mere inclusion of input glyphs (button icons) on the HUD. -although it's a modern feature, would benefit greatly from a weapon wheel or cross menu for weapon selection. -levels feel a tad interchangeable in the game's progression, new enemies are slow to be introduced and largely the increase in intensity/difficulty is not very noticeable. -sort of comes with the territory, but sprite-based enemies become very difficult to see/hit when you are directly above/below them. Due to the verticality of Ion Fury, this becomes an issue a bit too often. These cons are mostly just minor flaws. All that said, I definitely recommend Ion Fury, It is vastly superior to many of its boomer-shoot counterparts, and delivers a smooth, detailed experience. It's fun, it's polished, it's worth your time and money. 9/10
