The Gist
One Piece: World Seeker is the only time I’ve ever not had fun with One Piece. It’s also one of the few times I’ve felt the need to drop a game without even getting halfway because of how miserable it was to play. To add insult to injury, I bought all the DLC in advance because I swore I’d love the game, and now I’ll never play that either.
What I Liked
✪ I genuinely do not think the bar can get any lower than this for One Piece games. ✪ Authentic Straw Hat moments that brought a smile to my face and reminded me why I kept trying to like the game. ✪ The world is visually appealing most of the time and was kind of fun to explore; especially once I unlocked more traversal abilities.
What I Didn't Like
✘ It’s a shame how empty the game feels, especially since One Piece is an IP that is overflowing with life. The depressingly low amount of NPCs, limited enemy counts, the immense amount of empty space; it constantly had me feeling like this was little more than a proof of concept. Especially since it released in 2019, which was a year full of fantastic games that pushed the envelope and still hold up to this day. ✘ Combat is way too clunky, slow and unsatisfying for me to feel like I was playing as Monkey D. Luffy. Even when you unlock more skills for your kit, the way this game plays had me feeling more like Demalo Black. ✘ While using a controller, my mouse cursor appeared in the middle of the screen every time I open a menu. The only way to get rid of it was by using third-party software [Special K, which I needed to use anyways to get PlayStation button prompts]. ✘ There’s a crosshair on the screen for the entire game that can’t be edited and is way too big for my liking. What’s worse is that this is what control’s Luffy’s locomotion direction. Trying to move Luffy in any other direction besides the one the crosshair is facing is like trying to strafe in quicksand. ✘ At first, I thought the game was just taking a classic approach to quests by giving you vague instructions and hoping you were paying attention to figure it out. It was nice for the first hour or so, but then I realized that the game is just awful at setting up what to do next. One of the worst examples is a quest where you have to find Jeanne in the graveyard. Would you believe me if I told you she isn’t even there? ✘ The vertical camera sensitivity is 25% higher than the horizontal sensitivity. There’s no way to make them the same in-game, so you have to make adjustments elsewhere. Steam’s controller editing feature saved the day by allowing me to change the vertical look sensitivity to 75% ✘ Background music doesn’t loop when you’re exploring the world, so after the area’s song ends you’re just running around in silence until you enter combat. Once the fight’s over, the area’s music doesn’t start again. It’s just gone until you re-enter the area by fast traveling or loading a recent save. What’s even more annoying about this is that other music -does- loop, like the music that plays during conversations and when you’re riding Karoo. ✘ There’s a feature called Tone Dial, which lets you create a playlist of songs within the game. You can even shuffle them, and they’ll loop. Unfortunately, it sucks. Playing music through the Tone Dial disables all other music in the game, so if you enter combat while you’re listening to the Dial, your Dial’s track is all you’ll hear.
Nitpicks
• I yearn for a One Piece game that has English dubs, and can’t believe we’ve only ever had three. The last was almost 20 years ago, man. • No ultrawide support, and no mods even after all this time. • Making us hold down the activation button to open chests is really dumb, but requiring Skill Points to make opening chests faster is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen in a video game. • Luffy gets a stealth mechanic, which is actually kind of funny at first. Then you’re forced to stealth, which works just as well as everything else does in this game.
Overall
One Piece: World Seeker is such a bad game that I genuinely think it’s a psyop by the World Government to make people dislike the franchise. If there is ever a modern One Piece game worse than this, I will stand in the middle of a crowded movie theater, mid-screening, and laugh like Gecko Moria until security escorts me out.
The best game ive played so far it even runs one my trash computer lol though it gets a little slower when i look at like a city but its still playable i bought it for 5 bucks cause on sale, but if you have a good pc its worth the 60 and if you have a trash pc its still worth 5
unexpectedly amazing game, high quality design, graphics, gameplay, rpg, levelling and story, could not ask for more, and its one piece, my days!!! Highly recommended, as they sure have put a lot of effort into making this a solid smooth gameplaying experience
I really enjoyed this game. It was fun from start to finish, and it genuinely made me feel happy and put a smile on my face. I also played all three DLCs and had a great time with them. They were a nice addition to the main game. Sabo's DLC is my favorite and it was also the hardest. Law's DLC was the easiest and felt a bit short. I couldn't help but laugh while playing Zoro's DLC when I saw the map... and then again when I saw the most expensive skill. 🗺️🤣 Overall, I really enjoyed this One Piece game, and I 100% recommend it to One Piece fans! The One Piece is real! 🏴☠️
Finger weg. Und DAS SOLL 50€ kosten haha
