About

Ever wondered what the love child of a Roguelike Deckbuilder and a Tabletop Boardgame would look like? Here’s the answer: Into The Grid features action-packed card battles and deeply tactical map exploration with resource management.

We designed a unique dual-resource system where each card is played for its effect while simultaneously generating Virtual Memory (VIM), which allows the player to take advantage of even the most suboptimal hands. Use your VIM to activate your Commands during battle and obliterate your enemies’ defenses!

Exploit the Commands - powerful unlockable skills that can be the difference between victory and defeat. Choose them wisely, sync them with your deck, and strategically deploy them for knockout wins.

The Grid is the infinite digital landscape where information lives. Full of riches and dangers, it’s a place where only the sharpest minds can thrive. Experience a layer of depth never seen before in the genre; consider every move as if it were your last because it might be. Fight or flee? Visit this area now or later? Cash in a reward immediately, or hold on to it for an even bigger payoff? The choice is yours, as well as the punishment and the profit.

The Repo is your arsenal, and its program cards, your weapons. Get new Programs as you explore, upgrade your favorites and remove your less effective ones to optimize you combat abilities.
As a hacker, your Console is an extension of your mind and body. Customize it to match your playstyle by unlocking hardware mods and perks. The more you hone your skills, the more options you’ll discover!

Into The Grid includes different characters, each with its own gameplay mechanics, art, and story arcs (single player campaigns available at full launch).

Short version: Slow Cyberpunk-Skinned Slay the Spire. I'll give props where they're due -- the enemy visual design is top notch. The map, much less so. This is not a hacking game, it's a dungeon crawl with a hacking motif. I play a ton of sneaky games; I like being rewarded for finding a clever solution around blockers. Here, there are no clever solutions, just pummeling enemies until the way opens. Even when the advancement condition isn't "eliminate all enemies", surely enough, there will be an enemy in front of every door and most interesting objects. This, coupled with nearly every action advancing the detection meter takes away any feeling of being a stealthy infiltrator. When the detection meter advances to the next level, what is the response? Simply spawn more enemies to smash through. Maybe I've played it too early. Maybe I'm not actually their target audience. I was hoping for flavors of Invisible Inc, CyberKnights, Shadowrun... this holds an a similar appearance, but nothing beyond. I only did the tutorial and one Easy level and I can't see myself spending the time to do so again, much less an advanced level which just piles on more of the same. There was no sense of accomplishment at finishing the level, just relief that the slog was over. The boredom wasn't bad enough to make me quit outright, but continuing left me disappointed. Finishing the level gave a brief stats screen -- no story, no roguelite-style advancement, and no ability to even view the run stats after being dumped back to the start screen. Don't get me wrong; I hope this review ages like milk. I hope this game grows into something interesting. Right now though, it's a flashy deck-builder that's still raw in the center. If my first line is not exactly your cup of tea, check back on full release.
The game has potential but I recommend not playing until it releases. In its current state there is no meta-progression and balance is all over the place. Despite the "many playstyles" available to the two available characters, only one or two are really viable at any difficulty above easy. The overall experience feels very random, and there are unwinnable seeds.
As always, ignore my playtime, im using GameHub, which doesnt track it. This is an excellent and ambitious take on the Roguelike-CCG genre, that combines the known formula with a great UI, a high amount of freedom and control, complex yet intuitive mechanics, 3 permanent (out of 12 changeable) combat-skills per hero, "overworld" skills that let you alter your environment, and individual and interesting card-upgrades. And even though i personally am no friend of the "sterile", futuristic design (i prefer fantasy and colorful 😊), it really is just a personal preference. From all roguelike-CCGs i have played, which means pretty much all of them, this might be my favourite, and it surely is the most promising one, with lots of amazing stuff still to be coming! But, even in its current state, it easily beats the big dogs (MT2, STS2) for me, and compared to those overhyped (again, my personal oppinion) games, the current reviews really dont do ITG justice. I mean: downvoting it because this hasnt Shadowrun-like hacking mechanics? Because the balance is not perfect in EA? Because cards are "hard to obtain" and "boring" (which they truly are not)? That doesnt reflect the game's quality, and is not fair for a game in full-steam development, especially when comparing to those popular sequels, that basically just added a fresh coat of paint to existing products, and still got an overwhelmingly positive reception. While Into the Grid doesnt try to copy, but to evolve the dusty formula: Its innovative, its complex, its deep, its comfortable, and it is developed by a team of greatly passionate people, who want their product to become as good as anyhow possible, AND have the skill to make it reality...
A unique solid roguelike deckbuilder. Enjoying it so far. The metaprogression could use some improvements (ability to see which cards are in which card packs, ability to progress starting cards, etc.) and the UI could use some improvement (better readability of how intents will resolve/affect your health/enemy health) but overall solid. Looking forward to this continuing to improve.
Pretty good game for something in EA. Aesthetic is cool, UI is cool, the way it handles the map is cool, cards are interesting, enemies are cool (though not that many of them). Little to artificially hard at the start after the meta progression update because of ridiculously low starting health, but a little too easy once you get the unlocks and figure the game out. Looking forward to some more difficulty options, would also like some more randomness, events, enemies, something to break up the same-ness right now. Definitely fun though.
A deck-building rogue-like dungeon crawler inspired by Netrunners (a la Cyberpunk) & Dream Quest. A hard genre itch to scratch when you can't get a referee to run a game for you on the table top, or you can't find a solid opponent to match against in the Netrunner card game. This review is Early Access. The game currently lacks a much needed campaign mode. I would love to see a more open-ended campaign map than Slay the Spire -- which this game emulates -- based on a cybernet envisioned by William Gibson and Mike Pondsmith.
Spent nearly an hour just on a run to finally get some new cards and upgrades near the end. One, ONE playable stage, with different difficulties. And it's gets old very quickly. Game is very pretty but honestly isn't worth it.
