[h1] Spoiler-free review [/h1] This game is the first [b]fighting game[/b] I really got into. Gameplay wise, it’s a 6 button game that you can extend to 8. These 6 buttons are [b]Light[/b] attack, [b]Medium[/b] attack, [b]Heavy[/b] attack, [b]Special[/b], [b]Meter Burn[/b] and [b]Stance[/b] Change. Combinations of those buttons can give you [b]Throw[/b], [b]Interact[/b] and [b]Super Move[/b] (Meter Burn + Stance Change). I mapped [b]Throw[/b] and [b]Interact[/b] to 2 more buttons. I played mostly using a [b]keyboard[/b]. There is [b]lots of content[/b] in this game : [list] [*] [b]Story Mode[/b] is an enjoyable experience with lots of cutscenes (I’m not a big DC Comics connoisseur but the story was really gripping and well told) [*] [b]Battle Mode [/b] lets you fight a random sequence of AI opponents with different modifiers [*] [b]S.T.A.R. Labs[/b] wants you to achieve specific goals during fights [*] There is also [b]Artwork[/b] to unlock [*]The [b]roster[/b] is also impressive [/list] Every playable character has a unique special power. They all feel different and unique. I mainly played with [b]The Flash[/b], [b]Green Lantern[/b] and [b]Solomon Grundy[/b]. I do have some [b]issues[/b] with the game : [list] [*] WBID no longer works, all multiplayer rooms are empty. [*] Some [b]sound effects[/b] could be more polished [*] Gameplay is locked at [b]60FPS[/b] (common in fighting games) but level transitions are capped at [b]30FPS[/b] [*] [b]Enemy AI[/b] in Hard Mode can be extremely unforgiving [/list] [b]Enemy AI[/b] can be really [b]frustrating[/b] (blocks, counters/punishes, reacts abnormally fast …) depending on the [b]Battle Mode[/b] selected. That said, I was able to learn some mechanics thanks to it : [b]hit confirming[/b], not playing [b]punishable/unsafe[/b] moves up close, [b]blocking[/b] various attacks, how to [b]set up transitions[/b] and [b]punishing[/b] some AI moves. [h1] Should you buy it ? [/h1] I would recommend this game on a [b]sale only[/b] in order to experience the story. It’ll be hard to find people to play with online with the matchmaking function. It's better to focus on the solo content.
