this is the worst steam port i have ever seen half the time the sprites just disappear (have you ever had to psychically intuit taos location) the music is completely bugged in the vn sections and you cant edit the files to fix it on the steam ver (you can only do it on gog which doesnt have file checks) no online (thanks gfwl)
只能买来收藏,看剧情第二部还是第三部全部都包含这一部的内容,如果是打格斗那就一点都打不了,手感很烂,0日活,完全没人,跟朋友也只能本地玩。
Desperately needs a compatibility update. For most users the game requires heavy modding to get anywhere near its native 60FPS. Online multiplayer remains disabled, unlike previous PC releases of BBCT, and was never marketed as a feature of the Steam version. Everything else works fine but this miles and miles away from being the ideal version of Calamity Trigger. Will change to a thumbs up if anything improves for this bad PC port.
I don't really like reviewing modern fighters too much because there's two ways to review them: as a game and as a competitive product. And the latter takes a few years to really iron out. And even then, it's superseded by another update of the game, so what you're reviewing gets outdated quickly. Unless it's a general overview of the base systems that carry over, the product always changes. Thankfully (ironically) older fighting games didn't get patches or DLC to balance out the game. They got a brand new iteration on store shelves. So it's pretty easy to review CT as a competitive game. The short of it is that it's busted. Carl has a loop that can be used an infinite amount of times until he wins. The top tiers are extremely powerful, and either bypass or abuse (or both) the system mechanics. Nu-13 is an absurd zoner that was so badly balanced she was outright replaced altogether in the following game. Well..kind of. It's basically a palette swap, but one with monumental nerfs. Guard Libra, a key system mechanic, is so badly implemented that it would be eliminated in future releases. It's a shared guard crush bar that shifts to the left or right depending on who's blocking more hits. If it fills up all the way you're guard is crushed and you're stunned momentarily. Characters like Nu and Arakune abuse the hell out of this system with multi hitting moves that keep you guarding so many hits it eventually breaks and you lose the round to a 50% or more combo. To be fair to the Blaz Blue team, it takes time to iron out a game and get it properly balanced. By CT's release we were up to Accent Core in the Guilty Gear series. Which was better balanced than any previous version and lacked some of the prior bugs. 8 years after CT we would be in a better position balance wise. And, really, a game with bad balance doesn't make it bad by default. MvsC2, SF3, GGX- all games with balancing issues. All games looked back on fondly. So the second (more important) question is: is it any fun? Subjective, but I'd say so. It's basically an easier Guilty Gear. It's a 4 button fighter rather than 5, with the 4th button being the 'Drive' button. Which acts differently depending on the character, and provides them with a unique ability. Hakumen parries. Rachel moves both players left or right via wind. Nu summons all of her swords from afar. It manages to be simpler due to fewer normals, but project a unique flair nonetheless. A lot of the characters are just based on GG character arche-types. Carl is Zato (puppet character). Ragna is an easier, braindead version of Sol. Jin is heavily based around Ky. And if we left it there I'd say the game is very 'so-so'. You can just play GG at this point. But you also have characters like Hakumen and Nu, which are very unique. I won't go into every character, just know that CT tries some ideas that were unique enough to set it apart as more than 'just a simpler GG'. Given the complexity that comes with successive iterations in a game, I think CT is a good starting point that gives a brief overview of the characters. It doesn't bog you down with the complexities of later games. It's outdated, but it's also training wheels. The second (primary) reason to play this is the story. Yeah yeah I know. No one plays fighters for the story. Especially not anime fighters and their unnecessarily convoluted story-lines. One of the reasons SF2 worked so well was because it was simple. But hear me out: Blaz Blue has a story mode. One that was unique for its time. The story is told via visual novel format, as opposed to the typical 'arcade mode with an ending' method. Characters have an epilogue, a prologue, multiple endings, and run into certain characters with certain reasons for their fights. Terminology is dropped here and there, but I didn't find it too complicated. And it comes together better as you play the other storylines. I know it gets into ridiculous territory later on, but what we have here is interesting (and comprehensible) enough that I played through all the storylines. And will play the follow-up primarily to see what happens. I didn't get to fit this anywhere else in the review but I do want to note: this game was gorgeous on release. 720P native sprites? That was a big deal. Up until Skullgirls, BlazBlue had the largest sprites of any fighter on the market. I remember the threads dedicated specifically to dumping the sprites. Xrd went on to show us how 3D models can look as good as sprites, but this still looks good. Anyway, all told I think CT is worth playing for the story if you're into that sort of thing. Or as a soft 'intro' into some of the characters. Just beware that it's an old game and buggy on Windows for some.
This game needs a new port or remaster or something this game is broken. PC port is trash don't bother.
Unless you can find a way to finagle this game into running properly, it refuses to cooperate on modern hardware. The game itself is great, there's a reason this franchise is beloved in the FGC, but there's also a reason that everyone refuses to play a fighting game at anything less than 60fps and this game refuses to go above 31 for whatever reason. I've tried to run the game in compatibility mode like Reddit suggested, turned off v-sync, lowered the game resolution all the way. Nothing worked I suggest either tracking down a copy of the console version or sailing the high seas cause this game is almost old enough to graduate high school at the time of this review and the authorities have bigger fish to fry
Weird port, Great Game There is no Online, The Character portraits are very glitchy during cutscenes, and the game keeps locking itself to 30FPS Those issues aside, I've had a lot of fun playing this game! I just think the gameplay is a bit stiff, but that's probably just me (I got used to Cross Tag Battle Lol) Soundtrack is great! The menus are a bit confusing when playing with a controller The Wheel of Fate is Turning!
