This game showed so much promise but it suffers from bad rhythm game play as well as the combat and over world feeling weird and not well put together. I truly believe this game can be saved but it's gonna take a lot of fine tuning and polish.
It's not my cup of tea, but it really is super interesting! I feel like it'd be better played with a controller. My custom input for dodge also didn't stay registered for the action sequence, which was really confusing and made me mess up a bit and I don't see this being fun for me in the longrun. If you enjoy a game with fascinating mechanics, a bit of challenge, and a very distinct visual style? give this one a shot!
i don't think I've written many bad reviews but this hurt me I get to a cool looking boss fight. the only character I've met sacrifices himself i think. "GO FIND THE THING", like come on. the game tells you "press A to interact with an npc" firstly i got that from the giant a button above their head secondly Im on a duelshock 4 (their is no A button i know i'm being slightly pedantic) and thirdly it forces you to interact with every character. at the start it goes "do you like X" yes or no then "are you good at x" yes or no, but with turn based games the game doesn't let you say yes its just maybe, I'm not able to like or be good at turn based rpgs even if I wanted too. they reused the same dead robot sprite (i don't know if that's because they come alive later and I don't care to find out). "do you want to pilot the ship" No "you sure" yes I really don't "well your piloting now". also having stats linked too text options firstly, i want to go full 1 hp gonna die 1000 times till i win but to do that i have to be prick to everybody in order to do that. big dream sequence boss before the tutorial starts i avoid the attacks, I hit it, -167%. does this dream boss have like super spikes or something. the game is called infinite guitars, there are guitars everywhere, the checkpoint is a burning guitar, i hit the check point *it makes a drum sound* kinda funny but still. the bits i liked. the music is pretty good. the menus are pretty good, maybe it gets better after the first 30 minutes but looking at other reviews i doubt it. whats worst is i waited for this to come out cause i thought it looked cool only to have a really boring intro that I didn't even care to finish. not worth 16 pounds, edit: things I've remembered, the moss in the middle of the path had collision for no reason, also tl;dr there is a bunch of redundant dialog options that were more annoying than funny and the game is badly made
Fun gameplay and great music. Once you feel the vibe and get a hang of the battles, you'll see how the gameplay shines as an RPG. Smexy concept devs. Would've been even better with co-op muiltiplayer. Had to go buy the soundtrack as well after playing this..
5ish hours review While solid (kind of) theyve seemed to have stopped support for the game and i have been hard locked since. its been months now and nothing. Easy to break the game so be careful about exploring. (old review below at 1.7 hours) so far I like it. had got soft locked (steam version) when in combat. Tried to go back after confirming my character and not only would it not heal my character, my intended action, but it also wouldn't let me reselect them to go back into choosing an attack.
if you like rpgs, rythm games, and indies then look no further. its a wonderful story told with guitars and classic rpg turn based combat with world exploration
just doesn't feel good, and is EXTREMELY repetitive. same type enemies always use the same pattern to beat and each fight is maybe 1 riff not a full song.
Has the makings of a really fun game but it all just feels so messy
