Game isn't ready. -Controls are some of the worst I've ever experienced. Literally nothing makes sense, even the default key to enter the menu isn't ESC. It's tab and you can't change it. Certain functions are mapped to the same input and you can't change them individually. There's no way to change or view controls from the main menu, you can only look or change them in game. -animations are pretty bad. Some of the worst I would say. -performance is not great, I'd say playable but I have a rtx 3080 so take that with a grain of salt if you have something older or lower performing. -maps don't make sense from a spies vs mercs stand point. Everything is just jumbled together and put randomly it seems like. Nothing is really separated so there's not much thought in strategy on the merc side since there's no worries that you can't get to an objective to defend it. -i was going to keep this game and not refund it to give it a shot at a later date but that's all changed because of how the devs take feedback in their discord. criticism is responded with egotistical or condescending remarks if you don't like how a certain mechanic works or if you compare it to how a mechanic works in other games. They don't like when you bring up chaos theory and how things work in that game despite chaos theory is what inspired their game. It's always responded with "this isn't CT." They are trying the reinvent the wheel to put on the car instead of making a better car. If you are looking for a modern Chaos Theory replacement...this ain't it. Hold out hope that Ubisoft does right by the SvM community and brings back CT style multiplayer in the splinter cell remake project.
As a couple-years player in SCCT and Blacklist SvM I really hoped this game would fill the emptyness of asynchronous assault-and-defend game style. I've been waiting for this game to come out, played exacly 90 minutes and.... refunded the game. The game has big potential, really big and I have finger crossed for the developers but.... It's not ready yet. It's barely playable, a lot of bugs, a lot of balancing issues. In my opinnion it's just not yet ready for even an Early Access.
First off, I am a huge Splinter Cell fan and still play Chaos Theory SvM to this day over Radmin. I appreciate what the two guys that made this are going for but it was released way too early. Spy movement and climbing is very clunky, map design needs lots of balance work, lots of bugs so far. I was unable to map my controls unless I started a match. Video settings were not all there. Spy has no melee, Merc can't turn while sprinting. Lots of gameplay design problems in my opinion. Also there was no queue based matchmaking, you have to start a lobby and hope people join. Graphics are pretty good, though the art style is kinda weird. Sound design is actually pretty well done (I liked the footstep crunch in the snow) and there is good directional sound which is important. Overall it was released way too early. It was made by two people and it's definitely an achievement for that small of a team but I'm sorry it's not worth the price at this time. I will probably revisit it in the future once it has been worked on for some time and see how it turns out.
Don't listen to day one reviews. The game was patched almost immediately into a nearly COMPLETELY playable state. Sure, there's bugs, but they can be easily shrugged off, for what might be the best Spy VS Merc experience since Chaos Theory. Small team, but very receptive to the playerbase and extremely active in the Discord. Join us! Lets relive 2005 together. PS - Need a map with fishies
Props to only two people making this game. BUT To be frank it should be free (for now). Thats the only way you should be able to play this game in its current state. Wait a year and look at reviews to see how it has progressed then purchase. Full finished game with a player base should be worth it but right now you looking at maybe 15 people online at a time and if your new to the game you don't stand a chance. Dont buy due to: -No 100% controller support -No way train (either play by yourself or with the 13 nerds that are testing the game) -32 gig download every patch (at least they patch though) -Settings dont save -Low frames still (have 3090ti and can barely get 80 on few maps) Try it if they make it free, otherwise wait. FYI they have a discord that you can join. But prepare to get ridiculed by the SPECTRE groupees if you give them feedback and they dont like it.
This game as it is right now is a asset flip that runs poorly on even the highest of rigs, controls are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ half the time, i had to alt+F4 to leave the game because for some reason the pause screen was broken and didn't show up so that I could properly leave the game AND the playerbase is dead, no servers to join, no matches, not even a damn tutorial . The game has a great vision and I'm considering not refunding if I see they might stick around but that's just me, 22 euros to me isn't a lot so I can take the hit but I can't in good heart recomend this. I hope some day I come back to delete this review
Bought the game on a whim because I loved Splinter Cell. The game is however dead. No games are running and any games you run will be only you. This kind of game shouldn't even be allowed to be on this platform at this point.
Right off the bat I noticed NONE of the menu settings besides graphics quality will save. Performance is abysmal for no reason with an RTX 2070/i7 8700 like sub 30 FPS bad. Movement is clunky as hell on both sides. The controls feel terrible also there is pretty much nobody playing this game and seems DOA. As a CT:SvM fan this feels very similar but feels like a pre alpha/proof of concept instead of a game that's ready to be sold for $25 even for early access. Wait on this one to see if it even gets to a playable state or not.
sadly i wise i could even play this game but it has latterly no player base when i sadly tried looking for a server along with that i feel like for what it is it still feels a little to expensive so i will be sadly be asking for a refund and cant recommend a game you cant even play
Yes, this game has bugs and is not finished. However, if ironed out this can fill the void of Spy VS Merc that everyone misses. The dev. team is very receptive to feedback and will fix reported bugs. If you want a ironed out game, wait a few weeks. I will support to development team on this journey of reviving on of the best 2v2 multiplayer modes that exists. If you buy and you are not happy, talk to the development team about your experience. They will be receptive to constructive feedback and bug reports.
