I've loved every second of this game so far however, even though I've thoroughly enjoyed my time so far with the game there are some criticisms I would like to offer
difficulty
This one definitely matters the least of the points here but I think it should still be brought up. I've been playing through the game with every option set to hard but have still been breezing through it. Both the Action combat and the RPG combat are too easy and the latter rewards you way too much. Why would i care about being hit in the over world when I'm able to just get into combat and be healed for little to no effort? Sure you have to take turns to get charges if you don't have any to be able to heal but, they're very easy to earn by just hitting above 80% on a basic ability and can also be earned through ticks during enemy turn. Not to mention charges can also be found in the over world, they're overall just way too abundant.
rhythm gaming !!
Playing a rhythm game in combat was pulled off greatly here and is super fun to play but the risk reward for it is broken. Making a chart for 3 key can be tough to be made difficult and fair at the same time however, when playing these sections you basically NEVER get punished. For example, there isn't a punishment for ghost tapping so you can always just key smash, hope for the best, and still get a decent sync%. I know this mechanic can be pushed farther than it has been and hope the team is able to improve it. WILL STILL KEEP CHOOSING TO DO THEM THOUGH BECAUSE I LOVE THE MUSIC SO MUCH.
visual clarity
Now this might be more of a me thing but, I have had issues with clarity of the game when it comes to knowing what you're able to walk on and what you aren't able to walk on. It felt like in every section there was an obstacle that would just barely be off the ground or be in an odd shape and I would catch myself on it, often feeling like their hit-boxes are larger than they should be. Overall the good 10000000000% outweighs the bad when it comes to the game. The beautiful art, THE AMAZING MUSIC, and the engaging story makes this a purchase I know I won't ever regret. Would buy again even I think. I love FLCL
I received this game key for free from Disobey and PlayHumbleGames on Twitter. I wanted to like this game, I REALLY DID. It's a meld of genres I love, and I really enjoy the fact that you can change the difficulty on the rhythm portion and the RPG portion. But my god, this game fell completely flat. Between the bugs in the rhythm portion, the wasted chapters of 6-11 where it just wasted my time and didn't add anything of substance, and the plot just not completely there??? It was a big waste of time. I enjoyed this game up to Chapter 5, fought every enemy, loved it. Then chapter 6 came, and the enemies were 10 levels above me, and each enemy gave me such a large amount of exp for ONLY ONE LEVEL (any extra exp was wasted), and even at the end I was 20 levels below the final boss?? Here's another thing: I had SO much scrap (the money) at the end of the game, and the only thing I could buy were DEF items. And I could only have one item on each character. What am I supposed to do with all this? It would've made sense to put in a system to exchange scrap for the ACTUAL important item, the Infinite Core (which was hard to find in the game and I could not fully upgrade anyone's weapons), but nah. It's fine. The characters themselves as a group made sense and grew together in a way that made sense, but individually all the plot just kinda flopped. In fact, the plot, the lore building, the world building? It just completely fell flat. Again, I really wanted to enjoy this game, but after finishing this game there's so many negatives and wasted time that I'm glad to be finished.
love it
After nearly 100% this game (23/24 achivements) i'd defintly recommend this game. Infinite guitars has an intresting gameplay loop that's beyond fun, a pretty ingaging story with you not being spoon feed the lore, having you to actually piece together whats happening, and an amazing soundtrack. if you're a fan of turn based RPG game or a fan of rythem games, then you'll probobly love this game. i'll admit this game is fairly glitchy from time to time but nothing game breaking or bad, in fact i think the bugs add to the charm, for example you can easily use the shops to farm levels and weapon upgrades using a bug that keeps the money you spent. just trust me, it's worth your time and money to buy this game.
Despite being rough around the edges, I really do love this game. It's not as in depth as most RPGs, but it does what it needs while it focuses more on what makes the game it's own with the Rhythm Game elements and it does that great (besides maybe the overhead overworld mechanics, though really I think making the dodge roll and collision more accurate would fix it). The OST is amazing, and I would recommend it to everyone!
Questa è un'esperienza che ognuno dovrebbe provare una volta nella vita. Non abbiate timore. Giocatelo, e godetevelo.
This is arguably one of the most unique RPGs I've played with elements of a rhythm game that don't feel out-of-place or annoying. It's a short game but it's an absolute delight to play. I absolutely recommend it.
This game showed so much promise but it suffers from bad rhythm game play as well as the combat and over world feeling weird and not well put together. I truly believe this game can be saved but it's gonna take a lot of fine tuning and polish.
