RNG can be. . .unreliable. But it is still a pretty great game. I knew this was procedural content going into it, but there needs to be something to keep the game from just totally wasting your time -especially given the length of the game,
Como on ,Keep updating
rough around the edges but fun
This game is amazing. From the sheer amount of unique and different cards, to the chill and relaxing soundtrack that is quite well done, to the insane power level some of your cards will attain, this is hands down the best deck builder I've played. I was a disenfranchised former M:tG player that was looking for something to scratch that same deck building power fantasy itch, and this just hits all the right spots in my brain. It's a very ambitious game for a solo dev, and he absolutely nailed it. He's also very active on the discord, and very open in his discussions and thought processes for future updates.
Let's get the bad stuff out of the way: there's zero story or lore here, the art is obviously AI and I turned the music off within 45 minutes. The procedurally generated cards have unimmersive names like "Human", "Beast" and "Spell". Having said that, the deckbuilding is extremely compelling and well-done. The way you can keep cards in reserve without deleting them means you can be flexible, and the expanding minimum deck size as you move through the acts makes deciding what to duplicate and what to upgrade really interesting. There's zero RNG in the combat, the only thing you can't predict is which cards you will draw. It's more like Hearthstone than MTG as there's no instant-speed interaction or blocking and units don't heal each turn. I think this is a gem if you can get past the bland aesthetics. My main complaints are lack of variety of enemy encounters, too many 7/8/9 costed cards, and having to click through your wombo-combo because they AI won't concede obviously losing positions. But overall I'm super satisfied.
