Soviet City is a game made up of quick game plays, where building and control is essential. We take a lot from classic city builders. The player takes the role of mayor of the city. Soviet law and economy have their own laws. Every building influences a terror bar. Be careful, because excessive terror level leads to a rebellion.

TL;DR Game is not developed anymore and is far from finished. The short time I took to check the current state of the game was enough to decide it does not have enough content and is too buggy to get into right now. Sadly I missed the 14 days refund window. I was looking forward to this title but just as many other Early Access games the development has stopped way before the game could be described as finished. This title had two updates in April and one in May. Since then, the author fell silent in the forums and his online presence ceased to exist. Nothing happened for over 4 months. Since this game is not finished and is lacking in both mechanics and content I can't write a positive review. In fact I won't be getting into repetitive gameplay or the great soundtrack - I could write a proper review once I know the game is being worked on. The fact that is not completely disqualifies it for me and I leave this as a warning sign for anyone else.
EARLY ACCESS REVIEW: TO BE EDITIED ON FULL RELEASE I am surprised at the fuctionality of the game at its current point. I encountered no errors, and load times were a little long, but by no means unbearable. The art and design are very nice, and the score is very appealing, almost soothing in a brain-washing sort of way, which I can only imagine was intentional. The controls are easy enough to learn, though it may take some time to get used to the menus. One criticism of the menus is that they are not always labeled as what you may expect them to be labeled with, but that is easily overlooked once you learn the layout, which the current tutorial does a fine job of. The biggest issue I've had is a few grammatical issues with tutorial text and loading screens, but they are easily fixed, and easily forgiven. Even at its current state, I would recommend this game to someone who enjoys city sims, as well as one that likes puzzle type games.
How could I not adore this game? I can build an economy based on slaves and human body parts! What more can you ask for? This also arguably has the best soundtrack of any game I have ever played. The game still has some work to be done, at this point it's an extremely challenging game, and there is a time limit on nearly every mission. While I understand the need to stick to the Soviet Planned Economiies "5 Year Plans" it would be nice to have a sandbox mode where I am not timed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qj_6ohWDX34 GLORY TO THE GREAT SOVIET PEOPLES!
Promising game full of bugs sold on sale and then followed by... nothing. 4 months (!) passed since last update[3] and I get this familiar feeling of getting ripped off by a dev. DO NOT BUY unless you enjoy unfinished piles of lies.
Hi Community, as a little update I need to highlight, that the developer didn't do any process with this game since May, which is much too long for an early access. I still love the idea of this game, but please avoid to pay for it. Seems that the developer spended more time in creating a movie about the game than in the game itself. The status right now is still between alpha/beta and there is no general reaction to discussion posts or announcement for further process. This kind of developers destroying the idea of early access and this is very sad! Please find my original Post below. Best Regards ------------------------------------- This is the game I was waiting for! I like to play all kind of city building simulations. This one takes you into a freaky & funny kind of communism. Pro's

design concept
music (even if I would never listen to it outside this game - it just fits perfectly)
whole atmosphere
idea
a lot of stupid jokes - spoiler:
Mao looking at things Technology :-D

Con's (early access)

of course - need to become more stable
some bugs of course (overlapping buildings, balancing)
very little content so far - I would really appreciate much more buildings
missing sandbox mode
missing workshop support
Overall: Very recommendable At this state it looks very good; really hope that developer don't loose mood at any time and make a "still uncomplete game" release as you see in some other early access.
Dev abandoned the game. :(
ORIGINAL: abandoned nowhere near complete. EDIT: There has been an update recently, the game is still nowhere near complete but that's to be expected of early access. If it gets updated regularly until nearing completion it's certainly a game worthy of consideration but will need more than just one update to prove it's not been abandoned. Stay tuned, folks.
Stay away from this bugged abandonware!
