I'm afraid that I cannot really recommend this game. In general - it provides almost no unique or interesting content, just generic resource management. Not really replayable, not really challenging. I guess it can be somewhat atmospheric thanks to snow effects and sounds, if you are looking for that kind of stuff, but it also quickly evaporates because you're constantly busy trying not to lose. The game's name doesn't really mean anything either, there is no social factor, as you directly control all of your characters. Most "madness effects" merely handicap your vision as a player, or give your characters the ability to screw up certain actions. For co-op seekers - the game is absurdly laggy when playing online. Disconnects, freezes when interacting with anything in inventory, bugged enemies, problems with reconnecting, etc. Maybe the severity of these issues depends on your standards, but mine are quite generous, and yet playing in co-op was mostly frustrating. In terms of achievements - pure grind with a cherry-on-top in the form of an unobtainable achievement in the current patch of the game, requiring you to download the old one, which is even messier in its technical state. Also, the old version doesn't allow you to unlock achievements in co-op. Not to say that I didn't enjoy this game at all, of course. One or two playthroughs were nice for a lazy evening. But considering everything I said above, I've decided to at least warn people about what to expect. Cheers.
If you ever watched John Carpenter’s "The Thing" and thought, "I could definitely survive that," this game is here to prove you wrong. The Vibe: Distrust nails the claustrophobic, paranoid atmosphere of an Arctic research station. The art style is gritty, the vision-blurring mechanics when your characters get tired are genuinely stressful, and the "Anomalies" are creepy enough to make you double-check every shadow. Steam Community Steam Community +1 The Gameplay: It’s a top-down survival roguelike. You manage a small team, scavenge for supplies, fix generators, and try not to freeze to death. The twist? You have to stay awake. But the longer you go without sleep, the more your characters start hallucinating. Is that a monster in the corner, or is your pilot just losing his mind? You never quite know. What’s Cool: Atmosphere: 10/10. It feels cold just looking at the screen. Challenge: It’s tough. You will fail, and you will learn. Replayability: Randomized maps and different character combos keep it fresh. Co-op: Playing with a friend makes resource management even more chaotic (in a good way). What Sucks: RNG: Sometimes the game just decides you aren't getting any food or fuel this run. It can feel a bit unfair. UI: It’s a little clunky at times, especially when things get frantic. Verdict: It’s a solid, tense survival experience. If you like resource management and don't mind a steep difficulty curve, it's a steal—especially on sale. Just remember: coffee is more valuable than gold here. Score: 7.5/10 Would go insane in the snow again.
overall alright. the price of this game is to high recommend it to buy it for about -50% offer.
Cool idea, poor execution I was genuienly surprised to see a game that is more unstable than Payday 2. This is mostly related to coop. The amount of disconnects is insane (and reconnecting is also borderline impossible), the game also freezes heavily during basically any inventory interaction. Solo experience sure is better perfomance-wise, but suffers a lot from lack of replayability and rng in some sense. There is really nothing interesting going on after one completion and the difficulty of your run solely revolves around the amount of toolboxes you're getting. Even if you get just 1, it's still winnable, but not even remotely fun. And last, but not least, developers somehow were brain damaged enough to create an achievement that is only obtainable in the older version of the game. Even if you downpatch your game, the achievement itself requires: 1) a guide 2) absurd amount of luck Other achievements are not much better to be honest, either luck-based or too grindy for no reason
