This is not the "Reborn" version of this game, and unfortunately it is completely unplayable for modern PCs. I have a good PC that runs games like The Witcher 3 at 60fps, but this game was slingshotting from 100fps to single digits every couple of seconds. It's unfortunate, because I really do like the art style and it looks fun. EDIT: The Reborn version is on the Microsoft store and it works great. This game is actually so underrated, I do recommend checking it out. Dumb as heck that it still isn't updated here lmao
I can't even play the game what's the point of even having the option to pair a ps4 controller when it doesn't even recognize it also the inputs for the controller are all wrong I just want my money back
Hey, hi, how ya been? Been taking care of yourself? I'm fine. Inferno Climber. My least favorite favorite(not a typo) Souls-like. Inferno Climber is a game published and developed by Arc System Works. You know, the same Arc System Works that developed the incredibly polished series of Blazblue and Guilty Gear games? THAT Arc System Works? Yes, the very same. Inferno Climber, to its credit, tries very hard. It tries its absolute cheeks off, and leads me to believe that ArcSys actually set an internal challenge to make a D3 Budget PS2 title long after that initiative died off. It has all the charm and rough edges of that era, when ingenuity and innovation was embraced, rather than a risk to profit margins. If this had released in 2002, on PC and PS2, for $35, it would be talked about as Demon's Souls is now. UNFORTUNATELY, This is not 2002, this is 2020, which is almost the same thing, really, same numbers and all. Either way, Inferno Climber looks, feels, and sounds dated, and while not without some creative ideas and aforementioned charm, it requires quite a bit of patience to really get to know this game, and if there's anything in short supply in the gaming community, its a lack of commitment to off-kilter flawed gems. No, I'm not talking about you, of course, I mean the other guy. But I digress; Inferno Climber is, in theory, a Souls game. It has dodging, blocking, stamina management, open level design, oppressive atmosphere, hunger system, 8 separate characters with their own stats and equipment, dog gods... Wait. Yeah, this is Inferno Climbers "thing". 8 characters, each with their own specialties, equipment, and potential to be put in the dirt. When a character dies in Inferno Climber, their soul is left where they died(and I mean RIGHT where they died), and it's up to the next godforsaken chibi meatlet to go and retrieve it with a soul contract purchased from the hub store. Once you do, you get the character back AND all their gear and items AND all their money, but if you die again, that's now two meatlets that need saving. You can see how this might get problematic if you repeatedly bite it as a result of the game's faulty controls and janky combat. And you WILL bite it, the game is engineered to make it happen because Souls=Very Hard and You Will Die And If You Keep Complaining You Are Obviously Just Not Good At The Game. It becomes an especially prevalent issue here, however, when rather than losing just souls or money, everything you've been collecting is now riding on if you can get back to the same funky spot your character died in last, and it is plenty reason to just not bother with the game. But as I mentioned, this is an unpolished gem, one that requires a bit more TLC than your average Souls-like suffering simulator. And I believe it's worth it, as like I said, it's got that quality janky-but-confident charm that I tend to fall for. I didn't quite mention the platforming or Zelda-esque dungeons, but that's just part of playing the game, right? Can't tell you everything, or else why bother playing? So, there you go, Inferno Climbers. I hope I cleared up why its my least favorite favorite Souls-like. It is a game that, in a vacuum, and also nearly two decades ago, would probably have seen limited success as a cult-classic. But I suppose that's kind of what makes it stand out. Tune in next time for when I write about, idfk, Mass Effect or something, working on that now. Just be glad you didn't pay $30 for this game.
Inferno Climber is a wild game. Yes, it looks like Dark Souls. If you're expecting combat of that depth, don't buy this. The real flavor here is in the wild survival sim mechanics that, by the end of the game, have you eating garlic chicken to boost your attack power and farming fruit from trees and eggs from your chickens to make that food, as well as an atmosphere that only becomes more and more oppressive as the game proceeds. It's cheap, it's unpolished, but it's really, really rewarding if you give it the time.
Threw a rotten egg at an enemy. It cracks open leaving its insides on the ground. Walked over it and slipped. My health potion flies out of my inventory and smashes into the ground. Absolutely brilliant.
I'm not saying that those who say the game is poorly optimized are lying, but it's running well for me. I would like to continue and finish it at least once. but it's too difficult. it was really made to be a little piece of ♥♥♥♥. its clanky yes but i'm used to it by now. but in the poison area you put roads that even if you are beaten you can't finish exploring. patrols of enemies. and even hunger. that if you don't poison yourself you die of hunger. also.. plus the worst thing is that if you die you don't just have to go and recover your character like souls like at your bedside. but you have to do it with another character with different stats without equipment. but let me reborn with mine and let me go and recover. i don't want to play with 6 other characters of which only 1 is decent because he has more vitas than the others, but what the ♥♥♥♥ idea is that? i paid 1 euro it's not a problem to drop it but what the ♥♥♥♥!! don't eat eggs put them in the sanctuary to have almost infinite chicken and egg farms
这也太糙了,吃不下去
Why did I buy this again? 2024 Pile of Shame Edition Still Working on Windows 10 out of the Box in June 2024 Specs: Xeon e3-1231 v3 3.6Ghz Asus B85M-G Mainboard RTX 2060 12GB OC Edition by ASUS 24GB DDR3 Ram All Drives SSDs Flawless 60 FPS - 1080p IC is quit nice to play, has a strong and fresh game-play loop, only hindered by lacklustre Controls and a sinister Control Scheme. This control Scheme changes the game into a Memorizer-SHMUP like Experience. You need to know whats coming next to switch your Equipment accordingly... Strange Design Choice in my Book... BUT Don't buy this Version... it's obsolete! Overall a 6/10 BECAUSE: There is a Switch Port called Inferno Climber Reborn... a much better Version. No Plans to bring IC to the Steam Store... Shame... Because of that I will Thumb down this little obscure Metroidvania / Soulslike Game...
Adorable tiny soulsy that captures the dreary feel far better than a lot of other attempts. worth a shot for the price.
