Good game, Setting up the controls was a ball ache. With everything on offer the DLC isn't too badly priced for 12 years of DLC content. Runs very well even in VR with my rig, only occasional stutter as big formations of aircraft load in. As people have pointed out you always need a online connection which isn't good for the games longevity, or you being able to play in future
As a game, it is definitley not worth the price at full price. And the DLCs DEFINITLEY not. As a game it's subpar. The missions are terrible without the PWCG, timescale only goes up to 8x instead of 16x like in RoF and the career mode is mid at best. This game might surpass war thunder in how touchy the planes are. You can touch the ground for a zeptosecond and your plane explodes for no reason However, as a tech demo kind of person, I love the flight physics and damage model. The damage model especially is 100% the best in the genre (it's not perfect though). Tl;dr: Do not play the game for a career or campaign but if you enjoy the planes, then sure I would recommend it. It's alright I suppose 🙂
Look I love the videos made on the game and it looks pretty cool at times but the AI is very basic and everything is very dead feeling. Maps are 30-1hr of flying in an empty map with little to no flak or anything to do, all just to fight 1-2 enemy aircraft that just turn left forever. I love how aircraft look and sometimes its nice to fly them but for the most part it just feels like you're ONLY turnfighting. I hope IL-2 Korea has more interactivity or just...things in the world to look at or shoot at. Overall I wouldn't pay for this at all unless you can get it on a very very high (~80%) Discount when its only 1 or two bucks for things and then just play with a 3rd party mission generator as those have more assets placed in the maps then the dev made missions. All of this is really to say that 1946 (A game from 2006) Does everything better in its vanilla state then this game. (Except visuals of course, but looking pretty doesn't make it fun) I do 100% recommend 1946 as its simply better in almost every way and the modding scene fills in anything else you'd want in a flight sim. (Visuals included) Gonna wait a long long time before touching IL-2 Korea thats for sure.
