About
Greetings Enforcer, and thank you for enlisting in the Hypnospace Patrol Department! As the corporatocracy sleeps, outlaws are out there committing terrible transgressions all across our beloved Hypnospace, and these virtual streets aren't going to police themselves!
Hypnospace Outlaw is a '90s internet simulator in which you scour Hypnospace's wide variety of weird and wonderful websites to hunt down wrongdoers, while also keeping an eye on your inbox, avoiding viruses and adware, and downloading a plethora of apps that may or may not be useful.
As part of your job as a Hypnospace Enforcer, you'll be watching out for copyright infringement, internet bullying and more, with reports and rewards coming direct from the Hypnospace Patrol Department to your inbox. In your spare time, you can customize your HypnOS desktop however you see fit, with a variety of downloads, wallpapers, screen savers and helper bots to keep you company.
So slip on your Hypnospace Headband™, and keep these key directives in mind:
Crawl through Cyberspace: Scour the darkest corners of the Web for scumbag users who violate Hypnospace law!
Dangers and delights: Download groovy GIFS and MIDI files, but watch out for adware, toolbars and hackers!
Treasure hunting: Do your job to earn Hypnocoins, or ignore your inbox and go hunting for hidden pages, downloads and secrets!
Relive your childhood: Equip obnoxious screensavers and skins for your desktop, and wiggle your mouse pointer around to make pages load faster!

Stylish, dripping with personality. Feels a lot slower to play then it actually is, probably because of how much personality is there. Fun, in a whimsical sort of way
its very good
sooo good
One of the most unique projects in gaming. Worth a playthrough. Also just really fun and charming. I do have some gripes with certain aspects of the story progression that I feel were unclear, but overall it's a really great project.
Hypnospace Outlaw is another computer simulation game I've finished in my question to play retro sims with stories. In this game, you play an internet moderator and regulate the submission of users who access the Hynopspace software. Through four different time periods, learn about the users of Hynospace and what they're passionate about. Particularly touching are the memorial pages. It reminds me so much of Ye Olde Internet of the 2000s and I had a blast looking at all the old goofy graphics and images, the flash animation, animated gifs and ADOPTABLES, my god, what a throwback to forum culture! It's a decently tough game with lots of pages to search through and read and so many things you can download and interact with. I messed up one of the achievements so I'm definitely going to go back and give it a go. Do not look past this game, it's truly a wonder.
Brings you back with an impeccable retro internet sense of humor <3
The story is amazing and the charm of this game is unparalleled. I completely bet you can play this game and forget you're playing a game. Every single character FEELS like a different person, it's kind of awesome. The lore of the game is equally charming, as well as the music, which is emphasized by the sheer amount of different early 2000s styles it emulates lovingly. There's entire videos hours long where people document the different music genres in-game and link them up to real actual genres now, it's wonderful actually. The concept of being a moderator on this platform instead of a simple user gives a lot of depth to the world, and lets you be much more immersed in the realistic ways you can't really interact with the "people." The fact that this game has a built in modding section is really wonderful, despite the fanbase being rather small for the quality you get in the game. Of its many positives, the negatives are as follow: The quests get repetitive. There's only like really 3 different ways you can solve a problem here, which is kind of sad for a game involving an entire wide web. Also the end-game sort of section has a lot of flashing lights, fair warning for people with sensitivity to light/epilepsy.
perfectly emulates the feeling of falling down internet rabbit holes, with the aesthetic of an era of internet with a lot more personality and charm
Great game, must play for anyone looking for a nostalgia trip of the early internet era.
