Hyper Light Breaker -------------------------------- a vibrant roguelike that throws you into a neon-soaked world full of danger and mystery. As a Breaker, you're tasked with taking down the Abyss King and his Crowns in a procedurally generated 3D landscape. The game's combat is a mix of melee and ranged attacks, offering a satisfying challenge once you get the hang of it. Traversal is enhanced by hoverboards and gliders, making exploration a thrill. The latest update has significantly improved performance and added much-needed tutorials, making the early game more accessible. While the game still has some rough edges, like repetitive environments and a steep learning curve, the core gameplay loop is engaging and rewarding. The art style and soundtrack are top-notch, creating an immersive atmosphere. Co-op play adds another layer of fun, allowing you to team up with friends to tackle the Overgrowth together. If you're a fan of challenging roguelikes with a unique aesthetic, Hyper Light Breaker is worth checking out. Enjoy the game!

Dead game
This is one of those cases where I can only recommend if some changes are made to core gameplay. Pros: - The movement feels really flud, your jumps and dashes flow really nicely into eachother and moving around feels pretty seamless. - The weapons movesets feel really good to use. I found myself gravitating towards one or two weapons more than others. But even the weapons I didn`t enjoy at all had really well designed kits. - The sountrack is really really good a lot of synths and gltched out electronic music, it really fits the overall vibe they are going with this game. - The art design is really nice, I enjoy the artstyle from HLD and it really translates pretty well to 3D, the playable characters look interesting and cool. Cons: - Having weapons be a randomized drop really needs to be changed, why not have them as a permanent unlockable? Right now it feels really detrimental to the long term enjoyment of the game to rely on luck to get a weapon you enjoy using. I get devs want players to experiment with different gear each run, but having weapons be something you lose every run you fail really makes the game frustrating and dull in the long run, because there is a higher chance in the next run you will get a weapon you don`t enjoy, and you will have to pray to RNGsus for something that is fun to the player to drop from enemies. I feel like having weapons as permanent unlockables fixes this by letting players customize their loadouts to their liking, if you really want to encourage experimentation give players an incentive to use different weapons each run. Randomized drops is the worst way to do this, especially since you lose them if you die. - There are no real long term unlockables to work towards. Most of your unlockables are usually for RNG manipulation and incremental increase to stats, the more significant unlockables are the characters, but they honestly play so similar to one another that it never feels like it changes the game in any meaningful way besides their stats. The game needs more long term goals and unlocks. Right now besides fighting the main boss I have no idea why I should do runs the rewards just feel...unrewarding? Having nothing that makes the gameplay fun or encourages any experimentation as an unlockable really sours the experience in general. - What is the real vision for this game? What are devs attempting here? There is absolutely a way to make Extraction gameplay function in a Singleplayer/Co-op setting just look at Witchfire they did an excelent job with that. But as it is I have no idea what devs want this game to be. There are no real rewards besides stat upgrades, runs feel intense in the worst way possible because you lose your entire loadout if you die, and even if you succeed you get rewarded with currency that goes towards more stat increases. - The game needs an extra optimization pass, especially in the main hub. (Devs are already on it which is awesome BTW! optimization should always be praised especially nowadays!) As it stands I would wait and see how the game evolves over time before buying it. This game has a lot of potential but its held back by bad Extraction/Roguelite design. I think devs really need to go back to the drawing board a bit and re-think how they want the general gameflow to go because right now the long term vision really shows a game that plays great, game-feel wise but is not very fun and rewarding to play in terms of its systems.
This game has HUGE potential. Not enough people playing for multiplayer just yet but the few times I've had parties they were great. If it wasn't so expensive more people would buy it.
Not worth playing until they make the game fun and playable for singleplayer-only gamers too. Development for the game has been suspended indefinately. Assume it's a dead game.
I will try to keep this short since its in early access for those debating to buy: + Do not treat it like a souls game; though heavily influenced by its base combat mechanics, in Breaker combat is more about strategy and positioning than twitch + The reason why: Souls games are much more particular about resource usage and reactions; in breaker dodging is split by a multiple of individual charges, meaning you have to choose your placement to make sure you have the dodges to get out of the way ahead of time. This is because healing items are limited to 1 at a time until (somewhat expensive meta progression) perks that max them at 3, and replenishing them is expensive. Putting more effort into defensive placement to avoid damage matters far more than raw aggression to kill enemies to last an entire run + If you are used to souls combat; it may feel awkward at first, but you will get used to it + Starts off a little easy, but it gets fun difficult once it gets rolling + Developers listen to the community and are actually dedicated to their games unlike some other EA releases + Awesome and unique visuals For the Dev - Bosses start out far too slow; they should be intense right off the bat and get even more so throughout but have less health. A shorter, but more intense fight is definitely preferred to the first phase sponge that does not need to be there. If you are trying to leave time for the players to discover the move set, which I get since they cannot be immediately challenged again like in a souls game, have them take off less but attack more frequently

i luv dis gme
Truly breaks my heart that they had to ruin the HLD name with this one. Im just gonna pretend this game doesnt exist... Played for a few hours when they released early access, played for a few more once it started getting updates. Its bad. Layoffs happening, so the game isnt being developed anymore. Truly sad.
