He turned the psychedelia down to 10 for this one, as opposed to the 11 the first game was at with the literal word salad, but that's honestly a good thing cuz there's a little more substance to it now. Not that this game makes much sense beyond generally, anyway, but inventing an inexplicable meaning from the absurdity is part of the fun. Otherwise, I liked the new mechanics, the soundtrack is cool, the qol improvements compared to the first were good, and combat was more fun.
What a wonderful follow up to the first game! I really enjoy the whole package of the Hylics series. The extremely unique claymation art style and sound track really stand out in a good way. Hylics 2 is overall just more goodness from the first, better visuals, more music and more areas to explore and fights to encounter, with a runtime that seems about double the length from the first game. I was surprised when the ending came though, it did feel a little abrupt to me. I wouldn't mind even more areas to explore! The combat difficulty feels a little harsher towards the end than Hylics 1. I definitely needed to do more griding in this game then the first, but it wasn't an annoying amount. Also the enemies in an encounter can be semi random, so you can get very annoying enemy combos when you encounter fights sometimes. Such as multiple "healer" enemies (Courtier) that use Cupcakes and Graft turn after turn, which becomes frustrating . I would love if this series would add Achievements and Steam Trading Cards! I really like to make the badges for games that I enjoy!

since my last review i got 14 bones, 4 meat and 1 cupcake.
weird and cool
Everything Hylics 1 did is done better here. The weird poetic nonsense writing is better, the beautiful art by Mason Lindroth is beautifuler, the gameplay is actually good now, and the soundtrack made by Chuck Salamone is simply incredible. Possibly my favorite RPG soundtrack, definitely the one I listen to the most. Still recommend using a guide, though it's not quite as necessary here as it was with the first game. I also adore the difficult and confusing sections that don't even play like a rpg because... I don't know. Highly recommend.
loved the game, great artwork and so easy to play. the vibe is great as well as the sound. highly recommend
a thousand years of bees wouldnt even come close to this masterpiece, and at the end of the day, while it may not be the best brush, it dances with character.
i would play double for a similar experience
Haha I love to slap bugs for flesh
