Hunted is a fun coffee-break card game about rescuing your wife from the hands of terrorists atop Kobayashi Tower. Took me an hour from first run to first success and you will see everything there is to see the first time through, but the style is great and the cards synergize well for casual strategy. If you're a fan of short-form card games, this is a fun one to pick up and for the price, I'd recommend giving it a shot.
A 1 to 1 implementation of the board/card game. A fun lunch-break diversion. Would love to see this expanded with more cards, scenarios, and mechanics that don't appear in the paper version. But what's here is good.
My Experience Although it could be tricky to actually succeed and rescue my wife, I very much enjoyed my time in Kobayashi Tower. Even though the journey is represented only by cards, I personally felt as though I was really ascending a tower and encountering more and more resistance along the way. Through my failures, I began to make better and better choices and use my resources more effectively. I only succeeded once, but I regret none of the time I spent with the game and was always motivated for just one more run.
"Come out to the coast, we'll get together, have a few laughs" Hunted: Kobayasi Tower is an excellent digital 1 to 1 version of the physical board game. Since the board game already was a solo game, It is easy to go to digital,as the comptuer will handle all the rules, the card draws and dice rolls, making the flow of the game go smoother. It overall is somewhat similar to chainsaw warrior, in that the main premise is the same. It is a solitaire esque game in which you have limited time to reach the main bad guy, and events on cards and outcomes from rolling dice, can either increase the time or decrease it, or that you run out of health and die. However, compared to chainsaw warrior, instead of just hoping to draw the boss fight, you have to progress through 12-14 locations in order to reach the boss. The cards comes in a few categories: - Room cards: That requires a specific set of tokens to unlock which will then progress you further towards reaching the end boss, each room will have 1-2 options that you may select or simply decline to select any, but still progressing regardless of your choice, so you're closer to the end boss - Mob cards: Are the enemies in the game, that can range from 1-3 enemies in a card, the enemy will also have a specific dice requirement to be dealt with, for example "a card with 2 enemies has a target of 2 and 5, so you need to roll your dice and get a 2 and a 5 to kill them, thus removing the card" each time you don't hit the required dice roll, you lose health and time. -Equipment/gear cards: That gives you either weapons or items that can be used once to do a specific action like "discard X amount of enemy cards from the deck" or "reroll a dice", the equipment are weapons that each will have a specific stat, both for how many dice they provide, but also what type of dice. Your starting gun has 4 dice that you can pick and choose how many of them you roll in a fight. Each time you reload the gun, you get the 4 dice back, but you also lose 1 time. -Hostages That can be flipped to help you in a number of ways, like "gaining an item from the deck or rerolling a dice in combat or event" The hostages, room cards and equipment cards, all come with tokens you get if you discard them, and a token requirement to obtain them, in order to obtain an item, hostage or enter a room, you need to discard cards with the coresponding token. However, you can't just keep discarding cards and save up tokens that way, whenever an action happends, any tokens left are discarded, except in rare instances with a specific card. You can draw a mob card without anything happening, however, the card will activate if you draw another mob card, and the one with the highest amount of enemies will activate and you have to fight it, another way is if you draw 2 cards with alarm icons. when a fight ends, all the cards on the board are discarded and you have to draw new cards from the deck again. So it's a risk vs reward state if you can manage to assemble the tokens you need to progress or aquire a card, before having to fight an enemy All this adds to a "risk vs reward" style of gameplay that fits this game greatly. Granted considering it's both relying on a solitair esquce card draw and dice roll, there's a lot of RNG in the game as well, and if you're not a fan of that, i wouldn't recommend the game to you. It's a "play on the go" type of game, as 1 playthrough of it is quite shorter than the physical version, because of all the help the computer does, but also just in general because of the game itself. That not a bad thing, but if you enjoy the feel of rolling dice and playing cards, you're gonna miss out on that in the digital version. It also just sorta ends, without no flair, just a "congrats, you've won" screen. Still, it is still a fun digital version of the board game.
Fun solitaire card game. It's hard to win, but that just makes it more satisfying when you pull it off!
a Very cool DieHard cardgame that's Very well made. Once you get the hang of it, you feel the energy of a badass dude rushing up to the top to save you WAIFU!!! ain't nothin gonna stop YA!!!
Welcome to the party, pal! Ever wanted to be John McClane? Well, here's your chance! In this card game, you have to succeed in saving your wife from the terrorists that have seized Kobayashi Tower. Have fun!
Like Chainsaw Warrior, it's a RNG-bulls*** deck adventure/management game, which I personally love as a little solo experience on occasion. I really like it! Could benefit from some UI scaling options. Love the music and art.
Its a great game, and this Digital adaptation is also great. Also runs great on Steam Deck, but it requires the Mouse Controls. I hope to see Hunted: Mining Colony 415 made into a digital version someday.
